God I hate you, you’re so right. Well I mean of course you do, of course you hate me. You make me retch! I know I do! Well that’s it you see, the sight of you makes my skin fall off. Yes, yes that’s it! You’ve got it! God I want to kill you! I know, I know. Still, Still, Anyway, Anyway, Well, there you are you see, Well, that’s it I know Right Yeah
Well of course I’d go there, where else would I go? Well that’s it I mean where else? Well yes, but I mean where? I mean shut up! That’s it! I mean sot right off with that, I’m sure it is! Go and slice little bits off yourself and eat them, of course you’re right, that’s it! Then just quite simply shut up and never speak again, of course I am! That’s it you see! I know! Oh please, please be quiet! Oh, drink sick, you are so, so right! Aaaaaaaaah! I’m right! You are so, so, so right! I know!
Oh, God I know. I know, I know. Oooh, well I mean of course you do, of course you know. Oh, well that’s right isn’t it. Of course it is, of course it is. Yes, yes, oh yes, that’s it! Oh yes! Yes! Still… mind you… Well, anyway. Of course you mean anyway. I mean what Of course you do. There you go you see.
Well, I mean you can’t give up, No. You can’t eat money, I always say. I say that! I always say that! I know! Me too! Still, still. Well I mean the nerve. That’s it. Well for goodness sakes of course it is. Well I mean it’s absolutely bound and certain to be That’s it, I know! Well as if it could be anything else other than it. That’s it! That’s completely and totally the whole point! You’re right! I know! So right!
Script for You’re so right – A Bit of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie Well I mean you’ve been through enough haven’t you I know Well that’s right, Mind you, my life hasn’t been easy either Not easy, no, no. I hate it when things go wrong, don’t you Oh I hate it I know I hate it. Mind you of course, sometimes things go right, don’t they, and I like that I like that! Yes. It’s better than when things go wrong. Well I mean of course it is, of course it is Yeah, still, I know.
honestly this sketch just makes me really sad... it's probably supposed to be funny but i'm just sad. i've had a bit to drink but even before this sketch has made me sad. i'll read romeo or juliet! this is such a sad sketch. i just want to weep.
I want to show my English teacher this sketch, because she's about to teach the Freshman Romeo and Juliet. Of course, they would NEVER not talk I know them. I've also been the one who knows the answer in this classroom and raises their and, and my teach goes' does anyone else know? Anyone? Alright, answer" Also- as an (amateur) actor, I was like 'Hugh! Quit breaking character! I'm gonna slap you in the face!' I wouldn't but...you know....I had a bad rehearsal today- that kept happening happening
That's exectly how it goes in our classes. One class worse then the other. I think they gave us the worst teachers ever, I feel a bit sorry for them, but on the other hand, it's funny to see a teacher talking to himself.
He's perfectly portrayed a British version of my poor English teacher in high school. I think I was one of the only people who actually listened to him!
Perfect performance by Hugh in many senses, like in the sense of doing a remarkable rendering of a nervous teacher, trying painfully and desperately to live out his ambitions.
2:43 lmao - "Aha! That's interesting...So we don't think it's relevant, we don't think it's irrelevant either!" Pretty much sums up all of ABOFL! Relevant in it's irrelevance! tee hee! I'm glad there are so many new skits posted up since I checked last year... yay!
@Arrested101 yes there are, that mitchell and webb look being a prime example. armstrong and miller show is worth a look too. dont let nostalgia get in the way of appreciating modern comics
The audience is excatly like my french-class. We're just sitting there, and our french-teacher looks dejected. No one dares to break the silence - it's quite pathetic really.
Our substitute gets so nervous and starts dropping pencil and trying to get our attention. Everybody just keeps talking like she's not there, though. I almost feel sorry for her... like I feel sorry for Hugh's character here.
I actually checked your profile to see if it's possible that you go to my school, b.c my French class is exactly the same way :-) it's quite sad, really, poor teachers....
Haha. Yes, I really feel sorry for all the French teachers I've had by this time. And even though I don't insult them, they seem inclined to think that every student is against him/her - which is quite logical outcome, bearing in mind how the vast part of my class acts. Hugh Laurie's genius. Based on a real life teacher, probably.
L: No,No that's not it either sorry its coming up honestly!
F: Then what are you doing-?
L: THIS IS IT!! THIS IS THE ONE!!!!
F: Then what are you doing here sitting in my office?
L: *cracks up* then what are you-hahaha-that is,oh dear,oh dear,uh... actually he didn't do it very well that time - He has done it better than that honestly...
LOL the footprints going up the chalkboard! A priest I know pulled this prank on some kids in this remote village while he was doing missionary work, and all the kids screamed, thinking they were evil faeries.
This is so Libby when she's reading Mists of Avalon: "oh yes! Here comes my favorite part! ...yes, the best part! Wait no, it's coming up- no, that's not it either..."
This is just like one of my college classes haha.

"Just quite simply shut up and never speak again, of COURSE I am!"
Ow, I think I just gave myself a hernia from laughing. Also, I've always loved the way Stephen says, "Of course it 'tis, of course it 'tis." :D
