US was the "leader" in MAGLIFT tech in the late 60s into the mid 70s. There was an article in SCI AMER (early 70s [72/'] discussing & showing a model built by a Univ back East. Also O'Neill (Princeton) was looking into prin of maglift for getting lunar mat off the moon & space-based engines. Studies were done to build an underground maglift; ~300' underground from West to East Coast (vacumn in tube). Mag train could be in East Coast ~40mins! US GOV'T-"Buses better"---no dreams left in US!
@DIMATIF I do have a sense of humor that is why I LOL when u posted your claim about how fast u had gone in a "UFO"! If as u stated; "travellled 38,293,772 LYS" u would be in EARTH'S PAST---
@DIMATIF Wow u went to Mars School, then had to come back to this "mud puddle" we call "earth" man that sucks! For me I really do not like living on a planet for ONE Earth (and for most planets) they SUCK, 'cause they got gravity and gravity is such a drag (ask any matter going toward a black hole---suspect they feel the same way).
For me just hangin' in the "cosmos" lookin' at all the pretty colored points of light and not twilinking is sooooo cool! Keep the faith Bro!
@16989473 May as well we are "dissin'" ourselves! No more manned missions to the moon---make work projects for NASA for the Union members..America is turning into The United Socialist's Worker's State of America or The Fund Religious State of Non-Thinkers!
@WaiLoungChan At the "earth's equator" ~1,000mph (rotation) around the sun ~62,000-64,000mph and the solar system around the galaxy ~800,000 to 1.2 million miles per hr...
yes these are all fast and humans can use them XD but the fastest flying machine ever creadted by man was the heios 1 and 2 which mannaged over 170,000 mph which is about 280,000 km/ph
Ya um not to burst ur bubble but the space shuttle is not a self powered vehicle. Earths gravity gives it its speed so technicly it has no definate speed. Max speed so far is a little more than 17,500 miles per hour, which is known as Mach 25. It achieves this speed when it separates from the external fuel tank, at the end of the burn of its main engines when it sets up for orbital insertion. I live at Cape Canaveral so I would know this stuff :D
one has not to reach 11 km/s in the case of the space shuttle since the shuttle does not leave the gravity of earth fully. it orbits around earth. also, for the shuttle, 27000 km/h is the actual number, it's correct.
I read somewhere that the magLev trains in operation now are out dated and that current test models have reached up to 4000 miles an hour! is this true? The MagLev train in Japan goes 581km an hour and uses 1/5 of the energy! Can we have them everywhere? :-)
I think the current maglev in Shanghai is the latest technology, created by German. The one that can travel faster than an airplane is using the same technology using maglev, except that it has to be run inside vacuum tunnel (air has to be completely sucked out of the tunnel), so that there will be totally no air friction when it travels. However, the cost to build that kind of tunnel will be more expensive.
It also need to have some small modification on the shape of the train, like sharper nose shape and pipe shape body, to prevent the body from overheated when it travels. I think the current German maglev can travel faster than the current 431 km/hr if the distance is longer, in open space.
the sr-71 is a recon aircraft , not a jet fighter you noob :D
