Man I am so jealous, we have NOTHING Like this in the US, how on earth would you even plan a trip to Europe to see stuff like this, if there is a way, I'd like to do it!!
@duanescot I think it does take a bit of knowledge to know what you are looking for however these days it is so much easier because of the internet and you can work out where you want to be before you go - and possibly also get your smart phone to direct you once you are there!
@alanheath3 well thanks for posting and keep them coming, its not possible for all of us to go to all of these places, but its VERY interesting to see some film of these historic places...
who cares or what does it matter about himmlers access to hitler,Hitler purposesly limited access to all because it was so repititive and agonizing dealing with the same people for years on end. He most likely hated the very sight of Himmler.
@germaniajim Hitler may have denied access or Borrman may have done it for him. It is no way to run a country or a war and just further evidence of how Hitler tried to shut himself out of reality.
@alanheath I thank you for the video! If you have any more of the ww2 or nazi sites i am a history and adventure buff! So keep up the great vids and germaniajim is a wanker
All the big wigs wanted to be close to Adolf. This was a court and Adolf wielded power. Not being close to Adolf could mean loss of that power.
Himmler was a coward - even his own brother said so. The construction of a complex like this (as also at Rastenburg) well out of range of Allied bombers took resources away from German civilians who were being bombed. But then in the Nazi eyes they did not matter.
@rampking1 Thanks for your comments. I do not think that Himmler had restricted access to Hitler but the protective wall around Hitler is something we read much about in the writings of Speer inter al.
Bormann needed some time and access to Hitler became more difficult from mid 1943 on. I do not think that there is any doubt that Himmler had full access to Hitler when the decision to kill the Jews happened and most killing was in 1942.

Greetings from NYC. Thank you so much for these Remagen videos. I know very little about this battle but I'm quite certain I read about the pontoon bridge featured at 1:04. It was apparently a remarkable acheivement by our U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and something they trained years for when the time came to finally cross the Rhine. I've always wondered what it looked like and I'm in awe. It's makeshift but it supported the whole damn army. My Yankee heart swells with pride. Thank you Alan.
This place is so well hidden that Himmler might just as well have set up a picnic table and had his meetings outdoors. This lump of concrete is a monument to the obsessive fear and paranoia that the top nazis harboured within themselves. These were not mentally well people.
They were just as scared of the German people as much as anyone else. Compare this to where Chuchill lived - well within Nazi bombing range throughout the war. This was only within Allied bombing range towards the end of the war and presented too small a target to be effective.
Also consider the resources put into this - which could have been used to protect German civilians in Cologne, Hamburg etc.
Yes I have family all over Poland, they take me to any WW2 areas of interest, The Mazurian lakes district is beutiful & I'm an avid WW2 fanatic too, What hope did I have not to be as my parents were there and dad was shot in the head by the Germans, its all i ever heard about as a child.
It is not easy to find at all. This is now from memory so mistakes possible!
Drive through Pozezdrze, park at the cemetary at the end of the village on the north western side of the road. Cross road and walk into forest following the trail. Pass a clearing then continue forward. After around 500 metres there is a narrow trail to your left. Follow it for around 200 metres and you will come to the first bunker. You will find the others easily from there!
Alan, regarding the choice of camera, I hope that you will stay with video. The content is more important to me than quality. Your video on the Shoah is especially good and you do a nice job of reporting it. I have learned a fair amount from these. Thanks for filming.
For those that like to complain about the poor quality of my films this is your chance to have some input.
My Sony Cybershot - used for all films here but one - has given up on me. I do not want to buy a video camera - just a compact camera which I can carry around in my pocket.
Yeah bring some dancing girls to make the video clips more fun and also overlay a "late night" love song to make it more touchy-feely ha ha ha! No, i like them as they are, they are poignant without being lecturing - your doing a dam good ol' job man! Regarding bombs, why does no one ever consider the fact that the Russians also had bombers?
The Russians did not use strategic bombers in any force at all throughtout the war and did not have the equipment to do so. Whereas there was the chance of a very lucky hit from a tactical weapon, this possibility was remote. Had I been in Himmler's position I would have a chosen a nice house with an air raid shelter and not some pyradmidal monstrosity which must have been terribly unpleasant.
I really like the way you can hear David Irving rumbling away sotto voce in the background the whole time!
Your films are always interesting, Alan, but you could sex them up a bit! So next time, why not take along some LADIES? (And make sure you get 'em in the frame!!)
I bet they're connected underground

Facsinating, but begs for more questions.
Adolf was micro-managing the Ost-front war from nearby but what is the point be of Himmler also having a bunker complex like this?
Himmler was a master at genocide, he sure as hell wasn't the man that made the Waffen SS the kick-ass fighting machine that it was.
Perhaps he became a scared little man after Heydrich got assassinated?
rampking1 1 year ago
@rampking1 Good questions!

alanheath 1 year ago
@alanheath From what I know, after Martin Bormann took over from Hess, little be little.. access to Hitler was limited to all.
Including Himmler.
I don't know if your theory of staying close to Adolf is true but it makes good sense.
I just know in my heart and mind there are pieces missing from the Hitler puzzle that are either missing or do not fit.
I am no Holocaust denier so please don't snap to a conclusion about me.
Btw, thanks for posting this and replying to my comment.

Hitler had another HQ in Russia, where he spent a good bit of time--Vinittsa. Any footage on that one?
vinegaroon1 2 years ago 5
Vinnitsa is in the Ukraine but I have no films from that country at all.
Of course I will film it if I ever get there!
On the other hand I do have a lot from battlefields such as Seelow Heights and Remagen as well as film of Nazi death camps.
