LOVE the jetmobile! always wished they would release some die cast versions of these with Steve, Venus and Matt on them..I'm sure they'd sell loads! I'd buy em, been after a jetmobile for years.
Glad you like it. I always loved the concept of a hover-motorbike, and wanted (want!) one for real. I made Steve's Jetmobile mainly from rigid modelling foam (although the foam panels that builders use on top of concrete floors before they put down chipboard flooring would do just as well, and would be much cheaper - free if you skip-dive!). I also used balsa wood, alloy tubing, metal kebab skewers (for the canard wings aerials) and other bits and pieces.
Thanks for your appreciation, I'm just sorry that the video isn't better quality. My love of Gerry Anderson's Supermarionation shows goes back to the first run of Fireball XL5 in the UK in 1962, and I can just about remember Supercar, Torchy, and Twizzle before it. I think people will love those old shows as long as TV and video exists because they are made with such love and attention to detail. In short they are pure quality.
Hey, you wouldn't happen to know how to MAKE these, would you? Supermarionation is something I've been looking at a lot lately, and I thought it'd be something fun to experiment.
You buy the resin casts from eBay sellers Dazscarlet, Powerlee, or theearlofcamden, paint them, drill out the eye sockets and add doll's eyes, stick on mohair for the hair and eyebrows, add doll's eyelashes, then make the costumes and props from scratch. SIMPLE - each one only takes a few months of work! :)
The resin casts of the puppet heads and bodies can be bought on eBay - check out the following sellers: powerlee, dazscarlet and theearlofcamden. You then have to get mohair for the hair and eyebrows, doll's eyes and eyelashes - all available from specialist dollmaking outlets. The costumes and props are all scratch-built.
Hi MrJim, thanks for your kind comments. I just got my Pachislo last Friday and I love it. However, I'm not convinced that it's a game of skill as every time I think I've detected a pattern to the result of a particular sequence of button-pushing at a given point in the game it seems to change! What's the Thunderbirds Pachinko machine like?
I've never fully worked out what level of skill is required for the Pachislo. It depends on your payout settings swith inside the cabinet. I just keep playing it until it pays out. It fun to play though isn't it :) As for the Pachinko, it is amazing, the LCD display has some nice animtion on it & you get more audio on it. Fully recomend in getting it if you find one. Pachitalk com is really helpful for tips etc.
Hi Mr Jim, I just got my own Thunderbirds Pachinko, and I LOVE IT! It's completely mad, totally unfathomable, but great fun late at night after a couple of drinks and with the lights turned low - just like most women I have known! :)
