why is everyone saying taekwondo is useless in a street fight omg... I don't do taekwondo because I want to fight effectively on the streets. The people who do taekwondo shouldn't even get to the situation where you have to defend yourself.
things from tkd shown here are not effective in a street fight, this is just above average fancy kicking with moderate power. nevertheless if trained correctly and hard, tkd is effective through superior technique, variety and speed, outpacing many other styles!
sounds like some of you haven't been paying attention to your poomse... if you had, you'd notice that tae kwon do uses similar if not the same style punches as many other martial arts. you just haven't been practicing them along with your kicking and so now u have to keep the opponent at bay with kicks... work on your punches and in case of a close quarters situation, you'll be fine. trying other styles is helpful tho...
iv done taekwando for 4 years and im a black belt i think that he should practice balencing b4 he does a video especially hes spinning hook kick and common kicks r the best but no elbow or knee or arm strikes..>
Taekwondo is fun. ^_^ While fancy kicks are all well and good, we practitioners of Taekwondo should aim to use basic turning aka roundhouse and side thrust kicks to good effect. Those are the ones that deal damage. Knee attacks to the solar plexus are stunning, if not deadly. Taekwondo exponents can deal powerful kicks, but we really have to work on punching, chopping and elbow attacks.
It's korean, and if you want to understand, just read the book they should have sold to your son. And isn't there an age-limit as to how old you have to be to start??
uh he isnt landing right , hes loosing balance all teh time if he was any good hed center it and land like evryone else i can also kick 3 times higher lol

I think what you need to do is first work on the spin, then slowly work on getting your leg up.

He does two rotations, whether one is in the air or not, it is still a 720. It is a jump spin hook, not just a hook.
