I really like Michele Lee, but this scene RUINED the movie. The comic point of Finch's singing of this song later in the production was that he sang it to HIMSELF! As a result of her singing it to him first, it makes that great moment seem like he is only remembering HER evaluation of him. It takes all the zip out of the number.
@chinzebo I agree. You know, in terms of really understanding the day to day human condition and needs I wonder if there has ever been a greater songwriter than Frank Loesser. I am in eternal awe at his lyrics, both humorous and romantic, coupled with his incredible melodies and harmonies...My Time Of Day would have made Ravel or Debussy proud and My Heart Is So Full Of You is the joint greatest love duet alonside Bess You Is My Woman Now.
@julbim You've said a mouthful and all that you said made me smile. I think that Mercer and Carmichael are great but NO one makes my heart go pitter-patter like Loesser. All day I've been singing his songs. I just LOVE this guy! Thanks for YOUR comment!
I think this incredible movie has been never shown in Spain in the cinemas and it is not available still on DVD , I can´t believe it! i have never seen it but lucky I was that I could buy the soundtrack, txs to you i can see some scenes by youtube
I saw this movie for the very first time in 1986. My relatives & I visited my grandfather at his apartment one saturday. This movie popped up on tv and we sat around to watch it. When there was still a half hour left to go in the movie, it came time to go out to eat. I wanted to stay and watch the rest of the movie, but I had to go out with the rest of them. So I missed how it ended. About 12 years later I buy a used VHS copy of this movie on eBay & FINALLY got to see the movie in its entirety
you can tell , Morse's great acting here. He stays VERY understated or whatever the word is. He lets her sing and makes us the audience really believe.. He DOES NOT upstage. God i want to see in TRU. Has that been filmed? His Tony award stage one-act thingy of Truman Capote?? God I would LOVE to see thAT
I love this movie...! Great Loesser tune! I like the strings... I think the funniest part is "Rosemary, that gives me an idea!" !!! LoL

ML appeared in a trainwreck at the Ogunquit Playhouse ("Summer of Love") Maine in late June 2011.
Why she consented to be in that bomb is unfathomable.

Funny how Morse says he's "27 years old, not getting any younger", sure he
WAS getting younger, considering he was actually 35 or 36 at the time of this movie.

I remember when I had a crush on Michelle Lee's ex-husband, James Farentino.
