cool but i think its a bad idea to shoot at rocks , not smart thinking , but if a bullet flew back and hit you , it would have made it even better , not that i wish harm on any body just saying get some bales of hay or fuck shoot at the dirt , slow mo is still cool though ;~)
@YayOrNay Partially because I'm shooting one handed, and partially because I have a tripod with the camera right in front of me. The mosquito is pretty top heavy say compared to like a Ruger MK2, its the momentum of the slide gives it a little recoil, the slow motion makes it look worse, at regular speed you can see there is very little recoil
This video is great. I'm imagining a scene in a movie where the good guy goes into beast mode and starts shooting, in slow motion, all the bad guys in the face.
@psygn0sis a lead 22 will pretty much explode if it hits a flat hard object. If it hits at an angle it will be deflected and keep going, but its not going to bounce back at the shooter, they physics of that happening just aren't possible
@wavelength1970 exactly, people just dont understand physics nowadays. if it were a 9mm or 45 fmj then there would be some ricochets that are dangerous. but most any lead bullet will transfer all of its energy to the target.
@Pabbles123 haha, no but Ive had plenty of physics. I was too close to miss and hit the rock, especially low enough to splatter the bullet enough where a piece might come back at me. There is very little left of a LRN 22 after it hits something hard.
@wavelength1970 haha yeah I stopped after electromagnetism forget that shit. I only heard that in quantum sometimes ridiculous shit happens. But yes I can imagine little would be left
@psygn0sis yes, because a bullet is going to manage to reverse its course when hitting a rock at a glancing blow and magically come back at the guy...get a life troll
This is one cool Video. Super cool !! I can't help but laugh at the moron who goes by "ToughNavy Seal" like if a SEAL is going to boast about being a SEAL. What a moron.
Shooter in vid: Watch your hand at the moment of trigger pull. Your hand is moving down-left, and that will throw off your aim.
Practice closing your trigger finger (without a gun in hand) while keeping all other fingers from compressing. This will help with that. You should practice until you can move your trigger finger independent of your other fingers every time.
nice shooting but i doubt they would be any ricochet because most of the .22 energy is releash when it hit the juggle so i bet if it hit the rock it probabliy just scatter everywhere when it hit the rock was i right.?
Well they go through a few inches of water pretty easily, so there is still a lot of energy, but a lead 22 will pretty much explode if it hits a flat hard object. If it hits at an angle it will be deflected and keep going, but its not going to bounce back at the shooter, they physics of that happening just aren't possible
If you see in the distant the first shot skip over twice the second twice, and just yesterday a guy was shooting a M&P .22 caliber rifle at a boulder at the end of 100yd outdoor gun range the bullet ricochet back and took out a vehicle window parked in handi-capped parking space.
I've always thought it could happen but I never thought it would happen with a .22 LR bullet. take care and be safe.
Come on just admit you don't know anything about physics or ballistics, and that everything you think you know about ricochets is from watching too many movies....
No, of course not, they are probably ricocheting off the ground, in the same direction as they were going when they were fired. However, there probably isn't much left of them after slamming into the ground at 1000fps.
I probably did hit the top of the rock with one of the last shots, and those rounds kept moving away from me too.
If I were to purposely shoot the flat part of that rock, the round would squash/shatter/melt and drop right in front of the rock. No way it would bounce back at me
@Kurpalac agreed.I liked it alot the first time.its actually not a bad song in my opinion but after 8 billion times it makes you wanna take a sig sauer to your face
yeah I think it's the swiss that say that they prefer the .22lr round over anything else because they have the velocity to enter a skull but don't exit, and they shatter and bounce around. That's scary.
i read some reviews and there pretty down on this pistol i do like sig i never shot one but whats your insight on it- like jam alot have to oil it and keep it very clean shit like that im looking to buy one thanks!!! nice vid
How accurate is it from further back? Like around twenty yards or so? Like the looks and the feel of the gun, but have heard the P22 is more accurate.
well its the only 22 pistol I have ever really fired, so I don't know how it compares to others. If I wanted maximum accuracy I would have bought a Ruger or Browning with a thick bull barrel. In my other video I had no problem hitting a center-mass sized steel plate at 35 yards. Off of a rest it shoots maybe a 3-4 inch group at 25 yards with cheap ammo, which is better than I can shoot without a rest, and I don't usually ever shoot pistols from a rest...
Yeah I know you're not supposed to shoot at hard objects, but I doubt a .22 would do anything other than smash flat if it hit a rock. I wouldn't try this with a larger caliber though.
Any .22 caliber below the .22 magnum is prone to ricocheting.
You'd be safer shooting a rock with a large caliber, since the bullet has enough energy to blow itself apart on impact. A .22LR WILL ricochet if it hits a rock at an angle.
Lol. I have seen airsoft guns with about that much kick. Pretty cool little gun. Is it reliable, and will wal mart winchester and remington rounds jam it or do they work fine?
It's reliable after it breaks in...and I did some polishing of the metal to metal contact points once I saw the wear marks between the slide and frame.
Cool pistol. I was thinking about getting one too. Especially with the price of ammo these days. ? though.....Would you rely on this weapon in the streets/CPL
I would never use it as a carry gun - my 9mm Sig holds 5 more rounds (15+1), is the same size, and has proven to be 100% reliable. The Mosquito is about 95-97% reliable lately - sometimes just the rounds are duds - and just doesn't have nearly the stopping power of a centerfire caliber.
Only a few Casios will film in slow motion like this. This was done with a Casio EX-F1.
at 600 frames/sec 20 sec of video takes 400 seconds (over 6.5 minutes) to play back, and uses about the same amount of memory as 4 or 5 minutes of regular video does, because the resolution is less than the typical 640x480 of most digital cameras when its in the 600fps mode.
well thanks I think...lol. I was so close there was virtually zero chance of me hitting the flat side of the rock. I think a 22 would just flatten and stop if it hit a rock, but I was careful not to hit it anyway. I would never try that with a 9mm or with my steel core milsurp rifle ammo though...
You have to use CCI Minimags in this gun or you will have malfunctions. No problem for me. I have like 1,000 rounds of it. As far as stopping power, would you like to see what happens when someone is shot ten times in the mellon with high velocity .22s? Watch the video again.
noboby gets the point of a .22 pistol wtf! i buy 300 rounds for $30 in 22lr mini mags.. and for my 40s&w i get 50 for $25 whats not to like. some people like to shoot and get alot of practice time but most people think there gonna kill a traspasser every other week lol.. oh yea both my guns are sigs p229 and two tone mosquito
A gallon jug wouldn't have survived so many shots from my 9mm, plus the low recoil lets me keep the gun in the frame the whole time while shooting w/ one hand.
I had to use round nose 22s as well, I tried 22 hollow points, one shot blew the jug apart so bad there was no water left for the remaining shots...
Got ya. I wonder what my .40 HP's would have done to it =) It's amazing how much one's hand travels even with the small amount of recoil from a .22 huh?
watch one my older videos...same rock, same target, a 9mm jhp blew the container off the rock, a fmj did not. I also had to leave the cap off or else even on .22 would split the jug open.
"Can see bullets in flight!, Casio EX-F1 600 fps, 1/40,000th shutter speed"
I've heard that about the Mosquito. Internetdemon has one and said he got flawless results using CCI Mini-Mags in his gun. He said Federal's also work quite well but everything else had jamming problems.
I bought a 22 conversion kit for my SIG 229 but haven't tried it yet. I'm going to use the CCI's that were recommended.
I just bought a sport today and did the same thing, put the sight on the slide so that it will have a similar sight radious to a compact. My GF has a P6 and can't afford to keep both of us in center fire ammo. Can't wait to go shoot the lil thing.
It looks like your shooting the target on top of some boulders(rocks) which im really glad the bullets didnt ricochet back at you if you missed or happen to hit it just right, good video though.
The first time I tried this I had the cap on, a .22 doesn't really make a gallon jug explode, but it did blow open and all the water poured out before I got any more shots off. I'll post it anyway, I used a different camera setting and you can actually see the slug in flight
I just use the Federal bulk 36 grain JHP and the 40 grain LRN. It took a few thousand rounds to break in, it jammed quite a bit when new. Recently I polished all of the metal to metal contact points with high gloss metal polish, and while you're shooting just wipe off the feed ramp once in a while.
the teutonic fake cop guy had one of these i think.

Hey dumbass:
A number of tests have been performed to show the behavior of 22 caliber rim
fire, long rifle ammunition. It was found that this ammunition is capable of penetrating
2.5 inches of pine at a direction perpendicular to the grain. It was found that when
interacting with brick and steel the bullets behave in a liquid like manner such that they
do not ricochet.
wavelength1970 1 year ago

cantstandfools 1 year ago
good, then the explanation of why a LEAD 22 hitting a flat hard target just melts / disintegrates should make sense to you.
If it hits on an angle, sure it will get deflected but it will keep going in the same general direction.
wavelength1970 1 year ago
@wavelength1970
Look at the rounds skipping off of the dirt after they pass through the bottle. Do you honestly think they are "melting"?
And the top of that rock is flat and at an angle. Nope, your wrong. There isn't one safe round fired in this vid.
cantstandfools 1 year ago
No, of course not, they are probably ricocheting off the ground, in the same direction as they were going when they were fired. However, there probably isn't much left of them after slamming into the ground at 1000fps.

CAM4425 1 year ago 2
This behavior results because of the low tensile strength and low melting
point of lead and the fact that the kinetic energy or moving energy of these bullet is
greater than the energy required to melt the bullet. The bullets basically are stopped upon
impact because of the physical properties of the lead. For comparison, a low speed
analogy might be an egg thrown against a wall.

Slow motion does look great but why such a small caliber?

I also had to leave the cap off or else even on .22 would split the jug open.

awesome video but when i used this gun it jamed after every shot

it needs t o be clean AND broken in (few thousand rounds to do that) I also polished alot of the metal-metal contact areas, that helped too.

wich Kind Of The Ring Do You Use ???

Thanks, yeah the target was on top of a rock...not the smartest thing I know, but I was pretty close so I was confident I wouldn't miss.

Another good one, can you make one with the cap on i want to see the jug explode :)
john21992 2 years ago
The first time I tried this I had the cap on, a .22 doesn't really make a gallon jug explode, but it did blow open and all the water poured out before I got any more shots off. I'll post it anyway, I used a different camera setting and you can actually see the slug in flight

Beautiful! Thanks for posting! 5/5.

Really impressive! Which ammo do you use in your Mosquito? Have heard that it's quite finicky with standard velocity ammo?
stankoz02 2 years ago
I just use the Federal bulk 36 grain JHP and the 40 grain LRN. It took a few thousand rounds to break in, it jammed quite a bit when new. Recently I polished all of the metal to metal contact points with high gloss metal polish, and while you're shooting just wipe off the feed ramp once in a while.
