  • I'd love to get Amanda Baggs to spend a day with Temple Grandin. Temple Grandin has made it to the top of her field because her "killer app" is she's keenly observant of animal behaviours. And she has an intellect the size of a whale.

Baggs is very clever, but there are huge contradictions - logical, have-cake-&-eat-it contradictions - in her self-presentation as autistic.

I'd bet my bottom dollar Temple Grandin could spot some wooden pennies by observing Baggs when there's no "take two".

  • Amanda Baggs used to have this information under her video:

"Watch this video and see how normal you think ANYBODY can act when they're going through what I simulate for you all."

    Key word : SIMULATE.

She was outed ages ago by former school chums: some now doctors in neurology, psychology, etc. She attended a "gifted" school & an ordinary teenage life, ordinary speaking & social behaviour, but some heavy drug use. After apologising for faking schizophrenia & MPD she then "became" autistic.

  • what a bullshit and what nerve some people have! A autistic person is just like any other person you see, the only thing that is different is the way of communication. By saying autistic people have to adapt to those that do not have autism, is nothing more then discrimination and being a plain moron. Sorry for the harsh word use, but this is really offending what people dare to say! YOU try to living with such narrow mindedness for a lifetime and see how you feel! Idiots....

  • Shut the fuck up you retarded autism haters!!

  • @DNAdrianMorris your a moron

  • I am autistic and I think this is bullshit.

  • @Forkez Thats because your autistic. lolol

  • @DNAdrianMorris Haha touché

  • As someone with autism and someone with a lot of very important people in my life also being on the spectrum I am against the idea of selective abortions when it comes to autism, we have every right to be born the way we are, we don't need fixing, we need understanding and support to help us in our everyday lives. We need people to stop fearing us because they don't understand how we think and to start respecting our right to think in our own ways. I don't need to be fixed I need to be acepted

  • It seems like a lot of these guys are hiding behind their autism because they're afraid of "conforming". They realize that without their autism, they would be nothing special.

  • @Sociopathics most of us are not hiding we are proud we are not the same we are in a way better but not in a bad way and in some way normal people are better

  • Playstationnetwork_Playstationnetwork_nintendopoints_wowcards_ebaycodes codes-emailed-to-you!-VisitMyChannel

  • I have autism and I want it to go, it's not an addiction either BrUSomania

  • IT CAME FROM THE LAND OF ASSBURG

  • @chrisaira a member of the national socialist German workers party. a political party started by Adolf Hitler in the 1920s in Munich Germany. it gained great power in Germany in the 1930s and which Hitler the leader of the party become Der Fuhrer (great leader) of Germany. the party has strong believes in eugenics and social Darwinism. in the 1940s the Nazis tried to wipe all the defected off of Germany by killing them in gas chambers. this included the Jews, disabled, and non Aryan persons.

  • @Sitheis2009 the people mentioned you mentioned

  • @Sitheis2009 those guys actually acheived something

  • I have autism and I think what these guys stand for is ridiculous. Do they seriously think theyll get anywhere by being on the internet all day? I wonder who pays their internet bills. Oh, thats right, the baby boomer generation.

  • @Sitheis2009 lol your parents must regret many things

  • aww potosito

  • Autism is probably close to addiction. You know you have sort of a "problem" but you don't want it to go away

  • @BrUSomania what?!

  • i have autism, it wont go

  • sorry but her avi looks like crack lmao

  • @Sitheis2009 Thanks for educating me. :D

  • @Sitheis2009 Why wouldn't you want your autism to go away?

  • I have Asperger's Syndrome and I agree with the video.

  • @MissCedarbridge1 Wow, that was a very un-adult thing to say you little fucking bastard

  • SHE EVEN LOOKS RETARDED IN THE GAME LOL

  • LMFAO

  • @MissCedarbridge1 wow... Get lost u dumb bitch it's called 2nd life for a reason not all adult bitches alowed so fuck off

  • Heavy shit is heavy.

  • i have PDD, it's a type of mild autism i know how it feels, it can be hard at times and this is why i do like second life it does help me communicate with people and i think it's nice for people that are afraid to go out in public or live in a humble life at least this kinda makes them feel like they're out.

  • What media outlet did this report?

  • HAHA, how cute, they think they are people.

  • Peoples, before one judges whom should be in Second Life because of age, plz remember that there are 2 Grids in SL.

Teen Second Life, or the Teen Grid is for those between 13 and 17 years old.

Then regular SL or the Adult Grid is for those 18 and up..

So, One can be 16 and still be in Second Life, just not on the Adult Grid.. OK kids??

  • Autistic people want to be understood. We have a lot to learn from them, and we should listen so that we can support them as best we can.

  • @Sitheis2009 <-------------------------- 16 LOL your still to young for 2nd life sweety so please there is other kids games you can play but leave second life to us adults

  • @MissCedarbridge1 It's called second life, you dumb cunt.

  • @MissCedarbridge1 Shut the fuck up, you dumb whore.

  • @Sitheis2009 <------------LOL onlty adult stand up and fight for what he or she believes in....... as for you running away from this...... so I ask........ How old are you 12 ?????

  • @MissCedarbridge1 this reeks of maturity

  • this comment reeks of maturity

  • ooooh, this might be a topic i'd like to get into... i'm within the spectrum of "normal" people, although sometimes i feel i'm just out skirting that spectrum

it's difficult, a disability could be defined as something that effects a person's ability to function... but of course it has more conitations than that colloquially speaking

i guess once autism begins to effect a person's ability to be self dependent, that's when i would accept it as a disability

  • Wonderful to see more knowledge about autism and Aspergers. I am an Autism/Aspergers carer/support participant in Second Life, and have discovered I love assisting AND learning from this insightful and caring group of people.

  • If you wish to debate this subject I would appreciate it if you would refrain from comparisons with insanity. As a person with aspergers I find many of the comments to be extremely offensive. Yes I am different, but I am still human and certainly would not want to be prenatally aborted. On the subject of the video itself, I feel that it goes a little too far. I believe that a person with an autistic spectrum disorder should get help, but only as much as they personally want.

  • I saw your postings, and what I can say is that this is a very interesting discussion. Is authism an alternative way of life or a disability?

My answer would be that it depends if autistic traits are so strong that relationship with society gets heavily impaired and it causes you problems.

And I believe authistic people may see a few things out of the box, because they are different. Just as schizophrenics can.

  • thats so mean dude

  • Idiot

  • who you?? dam sweety you shouldnt talk about your self in that way =)

  • lol

  • lmfao ikr gtfo retards

  • ay ay ay ay.... FUCK YOU

  • Yes... Martin Luther King's black rights movement... No.

An autism movement that paves the way for future autism by making abortion of autistic babies unlawful... Hell, why not just make it all neural disorders? They're all just 'different ways of thinking'.

Autism should be cured, when a baby is born or before. Don't burden your own pride on the lives of others.

I know a guy with aspergers, I can get along well with him, but he would even admit that his way of thinking is an impedance.

  • autistic liberation front? what about the house-elf liberation front. and yes you DO have a disability. We only are trying to help you not be looked at as odd! don't bite the hand that feeds you..

  • Autistic people act like victims? Are you serious? Wow man, it's getting to the point where there are so many idiots on the net that have no clue that is astonishing and you now join that club.

  • @UTBESUX EXCUSE ME DONT BE SUCH A JERK my bros autistic HE BURNT DOWN THE FRIKKEN HOUSE HE COULDNT EVEN CONTROLL IT

  • i'm in this guy in the red and white football shirt !

  • Autistic people should get as much help as they can get. However I do agree with Sitheis2009, there should be no cure. My little brother has AS, and I can say he is sometimes difficult to live with. Although, like everyone he is unique, and has his own skills. He can do his 9673.2 times table for gods sake. Hes one of the best mathamaticans in his class. If you took that away from him, he would be left distraught. God bless all Autistic people!

  • crazeoutscreaming. I'm autistic. Watch my videos. Does it seem like I really need help?

  • I think I can be hard to live with but I find it hard to live with NeuroTypical people

  • Shagron, Asshole. I happen to be autistic, I made it through HS, and I'm in college. I would not die without the help of my parents, I have what's referred to as "functional" autism. Did some damn research

  • hey wtf, this video is so wrong, people just gotta realize that life is a bitch you know, and being against genetical modifications and stuff to prevent people with autism being born is just selfish and cruel imo, out of all the people, autistic people should know best what is like to be treted like shit for what you are, and yet they want that more people like them would be born into the world and suffer the ridicule of the mainstream society, get what i'm goin at?

  • no not in the slightest

  • This is a good video segment that shows that people with autism are using the internet more than ever to communicate and access information. There is now even a website that can help people with autism called rethink autism. It has a database of hundreds of ABA-based video's. This makes treating autism easier than ever before!

  • Since autism affect 1 in 100 children being born in the world today, those of you have seen fit to be ignorant and hurtful will no doubt be touched by this condition in your families or the families of your friends when you grow up. Obviously, you are not grown yet. I don't wish it upon you as raising a family member with autism is one of the hardest things to do but I think it would wipe the smirk off your face. Maybe if it affects someone you know and love, you will show a little respect.

  • i love amanda <3

  • lmao! ALF

  • people like you should try living with autism for a day than you wont think it's soo funny. I have Aspergers and i am proud of it now if you have nothing nice to say than you shouldn't post comments or be watching videos of autism. i bet you know someone or will know someone with autism since 1 in 150 people have autism. i will not change just because people like you look at me differntly and think i'm different. yes i am different but everyone is different is some way so i will not change

  • my cousin has autism you fucking whore. i hope people point and laugh at you when they see you. suck my small balls bizizotch. thank you

  • LMAO! ASSBURGERS!!!!!

  • lol

  • can u tell me a bit more of that status?

contakt me in my channel, if u like^^

  • for everyone who discriminates us who have autism, FUCK YOU! i am autistic( my type is Aspergers Syndrome, and that is how you spell it for you fat people who think its a burger...), look like any normal teenager, i have freinds, i am also bullyed because i have it but i dont care, i consider my doisability a gift. so if you watch disabled people jsut for the fun of it, go get a life.

  • lol assburgers.....

  • grow up fat ass you must have an IQ of Zero if you think its funny i wish you had aspergers than you wouldn't be a smart ass like you think you are GROW UP OR GET LOST

  • if i had assburgers.... it would be one of the greatest things to hapen to the world. i mean.... no one would ever starve to death again! just think of the millions of lives i could save.

  • Gutted.

  • aspegers is not a big autism. We are talking about major autism so don't get offended.Your autism is very very minor and you are still normal.Don't even know why aspeger is considered autism...

  • I hate reporters who call people disabled when they themselves don't have the skills of the accused. Honestly did this reporter edit her own video?

  • ASSBERGERS IS WHAT IT IS

  • All you soccer fans are the same.

  • Amanda totally rocks!

  • too true

  • I agree, the only reasons aspies don't rule the world are prejedice and the fact that we are horrible liers unlike other people who have made it into office (Obama,Bush, ect.)

  • @asperger15

Actually Obama did what he said he would. The problem was we thought he would do it on day one when he never said that.

  • I think it's cool how Amanda went to the effort to make her SL avi so much like her real self. When so many ppl in SL that are "normal" strive to make their avi into the most creative or beautiful representation of themselves she simply is herself in an effort to help others in SL understand autism. That's EPIC WIN! Way cool.

  • Yes,it is cool. But it's only because autistic people don't have ability to fantasize or think about world and themselves in better perspective where progress and achievement may take place and because neurotypicals can-they will always aim for self-improvement and plan their actions to improve the world around, despite the avi.

  • @veoletta Stephen Hawking. That is all.

  • I know its not really a moral thing to say, but is it autistic people or down syndrome sufferers that people call retards?

  • It's a DIFFERENT way of life, not an inferior one!

  • i came buckets.

  • ANY disorder (whether it's behavioural, developmental, intellectual, neurological, etc) is difficult. Our job is to be compassionate about it, and do whatever it takes to make sure the individual has as decent of a life as one without a disorder. People don't ask for these things to happen to them.

  • To some extent it is, but when said people think that we *HAVE TO* meanwhile, demanding that we don't find a way to fix what is wrong, and yes there is something wrong if they require being taken care of by others or needing assistance. IE, they are very much capable of realizing their predicament, yet expect to be served hand and foot because they're special. No, learn to cope with society, if we didn't have modern technology, these people would have died long ago, or be in bad shape.

  • well. it depends.

If this was 1000 years ago, id just kill you and that´b be that. as that was acceptable by the norms of that time ;)

  • no autist asks to be served hand and foot, we ask to be understood and yea it does take a little effort from non autistic people to understand us, but then it takes alot of effort for us autistic (even if you have a mild form like me) to understand the world around us, especially as noones helping us in the early years as parents can only do so much ...

before your gonna say anything: my parents are some of the most loving parents i know and i wouldnt trade them for any other pair in the world

  • Challenging

  • I was speaking broadly through experience and not about everyone who has Autism, I for one have mild dyspraxia and know life can be difficult sometimes. I was commenting on the people who are basically loud, irritating and arrogant big mouths who live in suported living (like the ones I work with)

  • I work with people with learning difficulties and can say that they are nearly all selfish, they are taught to be from an early age to be this way as well as naturally being self centred, they are taught to be only concerned with their own well being, only they matter, we are here to serve them etc, etc, they get that all their lives, its human nature sadly. The only thing that excludes people with LD from other groups is themselves with their lack of social skills and intellect... FACT

  • oh mickey. Im as to hear that people so malinformed as you are still working in that field. you seem to fail to understand they way of thinking for large groups of people, seems like you have HUGE problems with theory of mind!? They are not selfish or selfcentered at all, they may fail to value others above themselves due to an inability to empathize or because they do not have a history of experiencing others being empathic towards them. so really, you should blame yourself?!

  • I have a perfect grip on reality unlike yourself who obviously reads alot from books but hasnt experienced the real world. These people (like I already mentioned) have been brought up with virtually everything done for them, they have never had to do things for others or think about anyone else, they are forever being waited on hand and foot and told repeatedly that THEY are the only ones that matter THEY are the bee all and end all etc... treat anyone like that and you will get the same result

  • "failing to value others" and failing to emphasise" is an exactly definition of being selfish!!! Thats my other point, do gooders like you ignore reality and reason in favour of this idealistic eutopia where noone that has a disability can do any wrong, they can and do, Ive seen it endlessly over the years, and this denial only serves to create a wedge between normal people and disabled ones, where they are kept in little cotton wool boxes where no harm can come to them!!! pathetic

  • malinformed isnt a word.

  • You may be absolutely right. English isnt my native language.

  • Comment removed

  • Screw this different way of being crap.

Its for THEIR BENEFIT that they "change."

    NOT OURS.

Why does everything have to turn into this stupid freakin' crusade for diversity today? God I hate dumbasses.

  • you suck as a human being

  • Waah wahh. Cry more.

  • Cry for you? I'll die first asswipe. I spit on the graves of your dead family members including the idiots who dared to mix their genes to create you if they are dead, dumbshit. I feel sorry for anyone who's unfortunate enough to find themselves close to you and am completly unsympathetic if you find yourself lacking said company. Won't be suprised if you come from some close-mainded area that only watches fox news, screw bag that you are.

  • Its that kind of over-zealous reaction that gives people like you a bad name, people that are mal-formed in some way either mentally or physically dont need idiots pandering to their every need, they are on this earth like everyolne else to get on with it, giving them everything their hearts desires is not the way to help them, it just makes them into assholes, who demand and want everything,!

  • You're right, for a second you made me sound like just another neurotypical human being. Over-zealous, eh? That seems fair given my response though I usually lack zeal for most topics of any kind. Congrratulations for stating the obvious by the way. I don't want to appear too sarcastic but I can't quite resist the urge to comment on you saying "are on this earth like everyolne else to get on with it". No offence but we're not martians, ya know?

  • You have no understanding of this topic and your ignorance is profound to say the least. Have you ever met an autistic person? Have you ever looked at an autistic child and had to realise just how unlikely that child would be to survive on their own? To let them be would be a death sentence like nothing you could imagine, no exaggeration. I can function at a reasonable level as you can see (and didn't even get recognition until I was 17) but my cosin would have died in a crueler world.

  • wtf

  • My bad, I meant that without society flexing to their needs that a lot of autistic people would be even worse off for themselves, their families and society as well.

  • what you say is true, but you can also consider this: if the world was more understanding to begin with, alot of autistic people wouldnt be as worse off as they are to be with ...

  • I do like the idea that people with ASD are simply different and not necessarily disabled. My dd has Asbergers and is high functioning, but that also brings a creative advantage to her and she is doing okay in the world of NTs. However, there are more extreem cases that require a lot of assistance to survive. Perhaps there's a level at which ASD becomes an imparement and help is require. Why lump all autistics together?

  • I just cant figure out why my brother is so different than all these people who have Autism.

He has been tested and his maturity level is like a 12 year old his communication ability was tested at like 20 very low.

He looks like most people he loves music and can play the piano without any teaching. But his personality is like a child. When he was in special education Autism wasn't really widely understood. My parents just eventually took him out of school because they were so mean to him.

  • youtube is so pathetic in how some posts make it here and some don't its so irritating

  • please lets just not respond to this

TanjaKoch. this will be my only response to this subject:

TanjaKoch you are a sick fuck and should seek help immediately. My brother is Autistic and hasn't even a inkling about sex Not only does he not think about it or ask about it im pretty sure he doesn't even care. I doubt you were ever raped at all much less by an Autistic person.

You are a virus and should be eliminated.

    don't bother to respond

  • America sucks when it comes to finding activities and better training for people especially young adults who are autistic. I wish we lived in england

  • YOU

  • oh my god this is so true. "You must be assimilated. " seems to be how society deals with autistic adults

  • I'm just going to say something.

First, please do not talk about stuff you now nothing about because I'm sorry to say but people are going to think that you're stupid.

Also, to the people that are arguing in this conversation maybe you're argumentative but these people are obstinate and they aren't going to listen to you so it's best to just ignore them.

  • I have an autistic brother. Autism or Aspergers Syndrome means you find it hard communicating and having relationships and in using language and abstract concepts. Also you might find it hard for them getting a job. But if you have a brother or sister and one is autistic well they will talk to brothers or sisters more than parents! I love my brother and I protect him all the way. Including Primary School when someone tried to annoy him and couldn't attack I helped them back off.

  • Thank you for caring. Some people with autism seem to be locked out of main stream society.

I can find no help for my adult brother with autism

  • I guess you just have to help him, that's what I do. My brother can't even leave the house... it's a shame. But I still love him very much. I help as much as I can. I'd hate to be left out of the real world. I wish there was a way to cure this...

  • Many people are notoriously stuck up. The idea that nature talks to people and people talk to nature is very obvious to anyone who accepts that humans are as much a part of nature as everything else. Words are a language that have meaning only to one septillionth of the universe, or less. In communicating with the universe a yogi or mystic does not need words at all. So isn't it odd that so many humans worship a mystic but ignore or even detest an autistic person? fools liars hypocrites

  • TanjaKoch is just a troll. Just ignore her and she'll go away.

  • I thought tanja would've given up but she's still going strong.

I think it's pathetic that she is tbh and then she uses the excuse of getting raped to make it sound like all autistics are bad

  • hello this is count3rculture i agree with chrissara we autistics have th right to live and i hope oneday we can set aside our differences and live in harmony with each other it will not be an easy task but if we work together to understand each other than it could be possible

    Thankyou Please ...Support autistic musicians

  • i have aspergers syndrome, and while many people consider it "high functioning" autism, i still have great difficulty with interacting with people face-to-face, so anything like Second Life helps me because i can always turn it off if i am uncomfortable, and if someone asks what happened when i log back in i can just say "my internet connection cut out on me"

  • That's a very good idea. Because your not exactly talking to them or with them. And yes, it's good to go off when your uncomfortable. I have only a small bit of Aspergers Syndrome. I think it's a very good idea though. :)

  • Thats what my brother is very good at "if i am uncomfortable " he just shuts of everything where does he go know one really knows. Sometimes he looks up so he doesn't have to see your eyes. We spent so much time trying to get him like everyone else. does not work don't try to change them just except them

  • Autistic people have emotions, but they're detatched emotions.

  • It took you that long, do you still think you're superior?

  • You kept saying you are superior because you are Autistic. I never said I was actually superior. I said it to show you that you're fucking Nazi.

  • *sigh* if you want to know why autistics don't want a cure try to make a cure for NTs (autism in a bottle) and inject yourself with it, if your not satisfied, well, if you can make a cure for NTs I'm certain you can find a cure for autism

  • Caesar0031, folks blamed the Thimerosol used in vaccines for autism. Turns out it hasn't been used in the US for childhood vaccines in 8 years and isn;t used in many other countries at all. Yet, they have the same rates of autism. Gee, maybe it's *any* vaccination? Luckily for you, all the recent outbreaks of measles (300 these last 7 months) and whooping cough (30 cases so far), none have had any fatalities. Both were nearly nonexistant in previous years. As ye sow..

  • Comment removed

  • ah sorry they still use thimerosol today in 2008. where did you get that ideal?

countries that have vaccinations get them from the us.

  • Oh, I didn't say companies in the US and abroad aren't making and selling thimerosol preserved vaccines to the rest of the world, but the US and, soon, the EU have passed a series of no mercury laws and timerosol uses mercury (that's also why it is dismissed as a causative agent.. kids get 100 times the mercury from food borne sources.. for a longer time than thimerosol existed and no change in autism rates by the old standards of diagnosis since). In vaccines used in the US, no thimerosol.

  • I applaud Amanda for her Autistic Liberation Front and her "In My Language" video!

But as a person with Asperger's, I can tell you it's complicated. I value my slightly different sensory and creative mental processing, but I've needed help functioning in the world, and still need help finding a job where I fit in, and can handle. So NeuroDiversity! Right On! ...but if it's not considered a disability, how can I get help?

  • and you are? i would guess you are a relatively closed-minded person. please recognise that although we (and i am one of them, i have aspergers syndrome) do not have good "social skills" and may have ticks or other visible "defects" in the way we interact with people face to face, we do understand much more then most people think we do, and your insults still hurt our feelings, so just know that although many of us do not express our hurt feelings in the "usual" way, it still hurts.

  • They are not self centered. Think if you had Aspergers Syndrome. Obviously you can't, you just think this because you don't have Autism. Think if you couldn't talk to many people, not get married, have relationships or have kids. It just develops in them. They don't choose all this.

  • excuse me? they have a social disability!! my brother has autism/aspergers and he is such a sweet teenager! yes because they have a hard time socializing they may be a bit rude but its called acceptance and deceny!

  • you're a wanker.

  • Amanda is a complete fraud.

There is no such thing as becoming low functioning autistic after 14. She was diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic after overdosing on LSD.

She claimed online during that time in 1997 that she felt that it fit her. She is a con artist and doing a dis-service to the autistic community.

  • as the parent of a teen w/autism, the thought that "services" will take care of her when i'm gone is NOT comforting. if i could make the autism disappear you bet i would. i think second life could be used in a lot of other ways for people w/autism.

  • I do see what the NAS are saying about what would happen if autism was accepted as a cultural difference though, as I've needed support in quite a few areas of my life like school and things but I feel that I do not need a cure like most autistics and I think it is sick what is going on in america where parents will do ANYTHING to "cure" their child when in fact they hardly have anything wrong with them

  • Woo Aspies FTW!

  • Just because you have autisim doesnt mean you are wied, you are the same in fact you are evern more special than regular people.usually Autistics are smarter then NORMALS. I STAND FOR AUTISTICS

  • dream on whackjob dream on

  • curebies don't even understand what neurodiversity people are saying. They have to make a strawman to sound like they have any valid points at all.
