  • After a shitty day, I love hearing this song, makes me feel so much better

  • As a deadhead I used to hate this song. Now every Furthur or Ratdog concert I look forward to it

  • how can anyone NOT like this song or video????

  • Someone needs to come out with a Grateful Dead documentary.

  • I WILL GET HIGH....I WILL GET HIGH....I WILL GET HIGH...on fresh air

    ..

  • i wish to one day meet Jerry in another ethereal plane. or something

  • Oh how I remember when this song came out! I used to love rushing home from school to catch a glimpse of this video on Mtv back when Mtv was worth watching! The skeletons kinda freaked me out a bit but hey it's The Grateful Dead and they have been rockin the world since the 60's so all the respect to such a totally awesome band I grew up with! This song is such a totally awesome song! I loved to dance to this song back in the day at the school dances! It is one catchy song! RIP Garcia! ♥

  • R.I.P. GARCIA YOUR MUSIC WILL LIVE FOR EVER !!!

  • FIRST TIME I SAW THEM WAS IN EUGENE, OR. WATCHING THE LOONEYS DANCING WAS THE BEST PART. GREAT SHOW. I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER THE HOT RED HEAD BABE WITH THE CURLY BEARD.

  • this is to my dad he loved the dead.

  • you can never, EVER be sad listening to this

  • Quite simply the greatest music video ever made.

  • Touch of Grey Very Good song!!!!

  • Ok, I liked both the video and the tune. That stated, what was the big deal about The Grateful Dead? I could NEVER be a "Deadhead". I'd need more structure in my bands, thank you very much. At any rate...

  • @kja427 I do agree with you in part. But I have never understood the uber hardcore fan base any band gets. I really like a number of bands, but I don't see going out of your way or budget to see them or buy their stuff. But I guess that is just how some people are. It is the same as the people who dress like a Klingon at comic con. They do it because that is what they like to do.

  • I love brilliant lyrics

  • 1987 jeh..

  • Big Boi of Outkast sent me :D

  • dude bob weir reminds me so much of dexter

  • yay!

  • Scorpionstinger, are you a deadhead by chance? Because I am a long time deadhead, 30 years and forever. Now I'm not saying that makes me better than you if you are not, just the fact that I hated this song live because of the mainstream attention that they were getting with this song and the video and such. There were only two times that I liked this song live, that was when they started doing in the early 80's and Buffalo 7/4/89. And that's it, hated it most of the time.

  • Scorpionstinger, now that may be so, but at the same time, this might have been the only song they knew from the Dead. So if they went to see them live and they waited to hear this song, then they might not want to hear anything else. And the Dead were not doing this song every night. It was part of the rotation. Now there might have been some people who got introduced to the Dead with this song and liked everything else. But others who probably did not like.

  • @writer125 Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. I've always been under the impression that artists of all types wanted to be known and recognized. You say sell out, I say appreciated.

  • Great Song.

  • I just love the whole "find the negative in the good " thing with this song, maybe I'm missing something, but it's perfect for me.

  • The only thing that I hated about this song is the fact that the mainstream finally got it with the Dead. Now finally they can listen to them. Not a 40 minute Dark Star, St. Stephen, Anthem, Cosmic Charlie, Box Of Rain, Eyes Of The World, Franklin's, Scarlet/Fire, Jerry solo and so on, but this song. The big hit single and video, now they can do it. Just like all the other bands and artists that have the big hit single and video and such. I hated that.

  • @writer125 I can understand how you feel, but think of it...with that song, so many for fans were introduced to a legendary band they wouldn't have paid attention to otherwise.

  • @scorpiostinger65 Sorry about the wording...I'm kinda tired. But I think you get the gist. :)

  • @scorpiostinger65 It's true. As a lifelong punk fan this was the first song and video I saw of these guys way back when that caught my attention. I'm not a huge fan but I respect them and get it.

  • if i die at my funeral i want this song to play its relaxing

  • @babyj123451 If?

  • Listening to Jerrys at the age of 15 WOOO!!!

  • Thanks

  • i wonder if jerry had grey pubes

  • this is the probably the only Grateful Dead concert i missed,, i met Mr. Garcia on two occasions; after they played at klienhans music hall in buffalo, ny. they jammed with the buffalo philharmonic orchestra, amazing amount of music was played till the authorities turned off the power. anyone else attend that concert? how about the free one they did in golden gate park in san francisco? JERRY,, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MISSED, LOVE YOU HONEY !

  • Greetings to San Francisco..

  • This song make me feel so gooood! :3 :D

  • it may get better than this, but not by much and not anymore. RIP jerry

  • they were one of a kind

  • yhey were one of a kind

  • Even when Weir is trying he still looks like an escaped mental patient . . . god i love that guy, pure original.

  • Sorry that I never listened to this amazing group until after they stopped...

  • The lyrics are...The deltas and the east and the freeze, not the ablers and the eaves and the thieves. A for effort though!

  • The worst part about this song is that it ends

  • @tmcd9422 i broke the replay button

  • This song just makes me happy :)

  • theme song of my life right now.

  • easily the best music video of all time. brilliant.

  • lol @ the dude's username who uploaded the video, anyway Miss you Jerry!!!

  • @369dc I am the one who uploaded it whats the point

  • @AlbertaCanada420 nothing is wrong with it, it's perfect

  • @AlbertaCanada420

Much respect to Canada. Bret Hart is a legend.

  • The skeletomes are playing the music!

  • nice with a smoking skelet. r.i.p andy

  • Still no mv that will compare to this one!

  • minute 53, that's me!! What a night.

  • IT'S HORD, I LOV YOY

  • 128 people go get fucked

  • @900rrmm 128 people won't get by

  • I quite like The Dead, but when people call them America's answer to Hawkwind, it just doesn't sit right with me. Hawkwind are far better and edgier. This reminds me of a Caravan song.

  • proof that you dont need to be mainstream to have a long successful career. RIP Jerry, you are missed even after 16 years

  • Why all the nastiness? Everybody has a right to like what they want to...I LOVE the Grateful Dead and saw them over 500 times, but I also went to a Shaun Cassidy concert that ROCKED. I've seen PHISH when they didn't suck, (I've seen dozens of Grateful Dead shows where the DID suck and big time!) I've seen Madonna and it was a good show, Janet Jackson, very good show, Cher, very good show...Sammy Davis, Jr. wonderful show...what's not to like? open your ears and eyes and try to enjoy everything

  • phish sucks

  • We will get by! Thanks AlbertaCanada420 for sharing. Jerry liked to share... #weShallOvercome

  • The individual sands will stand apart, allowing me to sink...happier than hell

  • What a happy song!

  • dead head till the day i die

  • @AVampireconfesses31 STOFF TYPEING LISTEN TO THE MUSIC!!!

  • @AVampireconfesses31 STOPP TYPEING LISTEN TO THE MUSIC!!!

  • Agreed!

  • Tumbs up if "The sound never stopped" brings you here

  • Just what I needed. ...Thanks for the smile!

  • im so happy to be a dead head

  • Jesus 4 prez 2012!!!!!!

  • @7777Jah1 Hey man, if you elect Jesus president, who's gonna cut my lawn & trim my shrubs??

  • @atfpitt Guillermo.

  • @atfpitt Call Guillermo.

  • By GOD we will get by!!! Praise Jesus!!!!!!

  • Keep On Truckin'

  • The Music Never Stopped bring me here =/

  • Oh shit. I'm gonna be haunted by this. I remember watching a great documentary on rock music. This song was in there with "With or Without You" and a lot of other soundbites from songs, and a little aside on Reagan. It was great. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

  • @thegunclub123

was it "Decline of Western Civilization"?

  • where's ringo?

  • is it just me or does bob weir look like himself as a skeleton

  • I have just discovered the Dead (and I am 45). So cool, so laidback.

  • kapgjtatgd tjdtpjtp

  • The message behind this video is so deep and touching, that it sparks great sadness and joy within me. I miss Jerry, and I miss his amazing music, and I miss my father waking me up every morning BLASTING the Dead.

Jerry, you will never be forgotten, and through songs like this - you will live forever in our hearts.

"Whistle through your teeth and spit, cos its alright."

  • a skeleton with moobs?

  • Comment removed

  • Deborah Koons, love black cock !!!!

  • I wise i was born in 50's so i could have seen great bands like this, however i was born in 1980 and while my chiledhood had great music iam sick of the crap out today claming to music, i guess all good things must come to a end it realy is a shame that great music is no longer being made. :-(

  • awesome video!!!!

  • skull and roses live forever

  • The Grateful Dead, today, with Jerry, would have every single music venue in North America BEGGING them to perform at their place. And they would sell every single ticket at every single venue like that *snaps*

  • @penningtonant I agree

  • WHEN YOU HEAR THAT VOICE IN YOUR HEAD THAT SAYS HELP OUT A FRIEND, ITS JERRY GARCIA!!!!!!

  • Not just the song this is and will be one of my top 10 videos of all time. Thanks for posting it.

  • I have already read before on why they use the puppets and all that.. but I gotta' say.. intended or not, it is just cosmically beautiful to me, .. because I see it as the skeletons showing metaphorically that "we are not the body" and yet the music plays on through consciousness (eternal). I know, I know.. probably way too spacey sounding. But this song has always been very beautiful to me. It ALWAYS lifts my spirit.

  • Hey it looked like Jerry lost a bit of weight for awhile. lol:o) I like him better as a big guy! Great tune, love it..'speacially since i'm gettin' a little grey 'round the edges.

God bless Jerry...there's alot of those that miss him.

  • This sing - Touch Of Grey - The Grateful Dead got as high as #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles Chart in August - 1987

  • If your lifes not going to plan and you need a lift, Just Play this as till your speakers burst , It worked for me for many years,, R.I.P. Jerry x

  • at 0:55 the skeleton has moobs!!! Jerry must have been really annoyed!!!

  • The best concert I can almost remember. :)

  • The best- A legend :)

  • Such a great band.My Dad saw them tons of times in the 1970's and 1980's and still has all his bootleg tapes from all the shows he was at.

  • if jerry was still around and they held a concert today at a big venue like madison sq garden it would be sold out in 2 mins there isnt a new band around today that could sell out a stadium faster than the dead pink floyd or other of the classic hippie bands or even most hair metal bands of the 80s. music has gone to hell these days

  • Comment removed

  • @JerseyKP14 I say u2 and maybe Bruce Springsteen or Tom Petty(I will say almost)

  • look up Dispatch 2004 .. sold it out 3 nights in a row ,, and theyre independent .. No one comes close to the dead.. but you need to get your facts straight!!

  • @proflooney not true.....radiohead sold out three shows at msg in under 20 mins!!!

  • @proflooney Amen brother! I heard that!

  • @proflooney

ACTUALLY that's not true, the band dispatch completely sold out madison square garden for 3 days in a row in under an hour each time they posted ticket sales. just saying. the band formed in the late 90's and broke up in 2006 but reunited last year.

  • @thefumexxl Years active 1965–1995

Was formed in 1965m disbanded 1995.

  • @proflooney Don't despair entirely man. I just turned 18 a short while ago, and I'm now very much a Grateful Dead fan thanks to my favorite, Deadhead teacher from high school.

  • @proflooney radiohead would sell that shit out in 30 seconds. Plus Furthur is playing madison square garden coming up... if you know who that is.

  • @passedthemark your a dumbass

  • @proflooney ... Phish could :)

  • @PunchYouInTheOwlBox phish is horrible

  • @proflooney I am not a Justin bieber fan in anyway, but i have to say other people do love them even if theyare litte girls, he filled madison square garden in less than half an hour....

  • @proflooney classic hippie band, as much as i like them, are not from my time. i suspect you are a bit older than me , i'm 30. i feel the same way with todays rap music, which has physically nothing to do with 90s rap. remember when rap used to be the music of people who hadnt goin on? now its the opposite, they present most mcs like millionnaires.....

  • @proflooney-Ironically (kinda) music started going to hell with the hair metal bands.

  • @proflooney I remember trying to get tickets for Tool and they sold out within minutes. So there are a few bands left that could :P

  • @proflooney i definitely love the dead but i cant there isnt any good music that exists today, i mean, we still got some good bands arround, but yeah ur right when the foo fighters and green day are gone we aint got sheeiiit

  • Touch of grey, kinda suits me anyway..................Oh Jerry, You will always get by, playing your guitar up in Heaven with all the other Rock'n'Roll Legends, & we, your devoted fans will be following you when we get there. You have never experienced a show until you've seen the Dead play

  • I was in the presence of The Dead at the Jai-Lai Fronton, Miami June 1974.

  • The Dead hit #9 in Billboard, 9-26-87. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! RIP, Jerry Garcia.

  • I'll be greatful when they're dead

  • Who's the old man in the young band?

  • I had an accident about three years ago that left me paralyzed from the chest down. I use my computer with voice recognition software. My wheelchair is controlled by a sip n puff straw. It could be worse and this is my theme song. Thank you

  • I remember when this song first came out..I was a little girl and my cousins and I would get so excited when the video appeared on MTV (when they played videos)...we'd dance and sing to it with huge smiles on our faces... years later it still has the same effect!...<3 it..

  • Comment removed

  • I miss jerry Garcia...I remember how young I was when this video came out...now I have my own "Touch of Grey"

  • not much is better than "the dead" ... and i live in lake oswego, oregon! attnded concerts starting in 1974!

  • Just wonderful!!

  • The Good Ole Dead. Would sure like to have that button I lost gave away or whatever some 45 years ago...still make me feel good.

  • Sheesh, going to work everyday and having to pay bills and taxes is a form of brainwashing by the government. The media and movies try to brainwash us everyday. The Grateful Dead Freemasons? LMAO!

  • I mean, whatever kills you kills you, and your death is authentic no matter how you die.--- Jerry Garcia

And to that I add " nothing is more authentic than Jerry's skills as a musician and entertainer

  • long live jerry garcia !!!! i am a deadhead and if ur old enough u will know what that means !! greatful dead is the best band of all times!!!!

  • The video the Dead recorded for this song does not have the wonderful guitar solo 1/2 through this song of the studio version.

  • Kid can't read at seventeen, the words he knows are all obscene, but its alright.

  • I remember the first time i seen this video..Back when MTV was good! <3 the Dead

  • You can think it is brianwashing, or you can enjoy this beautiful music. I choose the latter. Jersey shore and any crap you watch on network tv is brainwashing, stop being so damn ignorant.

  • @Goodywagon How do you wash a Brian? lol j/k

  • LSD damages your neurosynaptic pathways, which is what your brain uses to compose your reality. When the mind is in such a state, it is very malleable and open to reprograming. Using lights, imagery and sound coupeld with the drugs; many sugestions where given to people to instigate a change in there behavour and beliefs. Trace the roots of LSD you will find it being used in the Weyburn mental hospital to treat schizophrenia in the 50's and tested by the US, UK, and German militaries.

  • @inspiredleader03 You would only think that without having done LSD yourself. I have done LSD a few times and I can say that without it I feel I wouldn't be who I am today. It has given me explosions of creativity and made me appreciate all life, including the molecular life that exists in everything.

  • If you consider enlightenment and renouncement of the social norms ''brainwashing'' because it's contradictory to the US government's (police) world-friendly ideologies? Haha, and I thought I was crazy.

  • The Greatful Dead were all Freemasons and the 60's revolution was a falcehood. The American government sucsessfully convinced the youth of the time to ingest drugs like LSD and go to concerts as a form of brainwashing. The frontmen of the movement where bands like this one, whose name is a symbol of what you will become if you "join the movement".

  • @inspiredleader03 And how exactly would LSD be used to brainwash people?

  • @inspiredleader03 You sound like that movie where the crazy dude thinks that the dead are assasins and on their europe 72 tour they were killing off foreign enemies.

  • @fatmanrocks13 what movie is that?

    lol

  • @TheBenkrasa RIP and also no idea my dad told me about it

  • @inspiredleader03 That may be true, but who gives a shit. live your life and have fun. " Im uncle Sam thats who I am been hiding out in a rock n roll band" US blues

  • "It's even worse than it appears, but, it's alright"

  • Thanks for posting this..

  • love this song. came out when I was in High School in Ft. McMurray many many moons ago. thx 4 the post!! :)

  • My voice mail greeting! 1:16

  • My very first ever favorite music vid:) I first saw it when I was about 3 yrs old and I thought the skeletons were realxD

  • @KissesAndStitches me too! jajaj

  • Hell, I might be your daddy! On acid all women look good as long as they don't get too near a blacklight lol. Saw them in Frankfurt. 1970. What a place to party hardy. Frankfurt, Germany! I was in the Army then and it was the last concert I saw before doing two tours in Vietnam. I got shot up pretty bad on my second tour. The only concert I have been to since then was the tribute to Bobby Hatfied. Bill Medley came and sat with us at half time. Pictures galore, lots of signed autographs.

  • SEE! Jerry wasn't fat...he was clearly BIG BONED!

  • I always thought Grateful Dead was a metal band

  • @BADGERBRANDON777 no sir

  • Excelente rola de esta banda.

  • Funny, even Jerry's skeleton is fat.

  • how could anybody not like the grateful dead

  • wouldnt it be scary to be on acid while watching skeletons play music?

  • I can tell this is a Dead concert from the 80s B/C if this was a show from the 60s or 70s the crowd would be too stoned or out of it to react that way. ;-)

  • Sun bless my grandparents for introducing me to there amazing/classic hippy music.
