Earlier this year I highlighted w/ Clairol Tones & Textures permanent haircolor. I mixed honey blonde & cherrywood together & foiled my hair. It turned out great, but I only purchased 2 boxes, so I didn't have enough for my entire head.
Hey sista! I'm not sure, if you already made the decision to color. But Im deciphering whether or not, I should do it too. I decided that I'm going to rinse my hair. Which is semi-permanent & can easily come out w/ simply shampooing the hair, until it is rinsed out. The benefit is that its really a conditioner, so its not damaging the hair, like chemically coloring. Another benefit, if you dont like the color, rinse it out & try another! Clairol: Jazzy & Beautiful collection are some products :)
i have highlights in my hair and i like them, ive never had color in my hair before and figured why not lol... i think a copper color would look beautiful on you! God bless!
First do what you want with your hair!!!. The look your going for will look great.. I suggest going to a professional who either specialize in natural and and. Colorist . Or have alot of natural hair clients and specialize in color... I have colored treated hair and I recommend DC weekly !!! I currently use jessies curls . Love it!!!. But the main thing to keep in mind is what's your plan with your color . Do u plan to often touch up the roots? Or let it jus grow out?!. What?!. That will also h
If you want to go lighter you should definately go to a professional. I have natural hair, and when I colored mine, it changed the texture of my hair, and altered my curl patern, and it has been a mission to try and get the curl pattern back to the way it was before.
You could experience change in texture, and also, the hair will definitely be dry. You will have to take extra extra care of your hair...I would think long and hard about it!!
i am bleaching highlights and i am also decoloring the roots from time to time, so i am doing lots of things as far as color change is concerned. otherwise i am doing lots of hot oil treatments and i am semi-bio when it comes to hair regimen products. it is bothering me a lot that the decoloration/coloration is making my hair a billion times dryer than it used to be...
It's funny you posted this video because I keep going back and fourth as to whether or not I'm going to dye my hair. Before I started caring about my hair I use to dye it all the time I've had every color in the rainbow. Now that I've been taking care of my hair I'm very hesitant to do it now. I know with proper care it will be fine. Still unsure... Kelis has always been one of my hair idols with the curls & colors! I think that those colors would look nice on you.
Oooh that color would look really nice on you. I just colored my natural hair for the first time. I used clairol texture and tones because it didnt have amonia in it. I deep condition my hair and keep it moisturized. I havent had any issues...i love it :)
I think that would be sooo very cute on you! I have actually been thinking about a little color myself I'm just not ready to commit. I think with color the most important thing would be to keep you hair mositurized (as you already do) and it should be fine bc from my understanding it kinda dries your hair out. I say go for it!
For the lady below...Henna is great and can lighten things up..hennahut.com is a great site with awesome colors and they are good for ur hair and for Mnv...that color combo is awesome but i think that u shud make it more red and less copper i think that will look nice on u...just try different colored pieces at the beauty supply near ur face and try and picture that...it can bring good things out in your face or cause you to look at yourself funny lol.....but hey u only live once
question to anyone that has used HENNA. I would love to go lighter, I am bored of the dark brown hair. What tipe of HENNA would b ideal for me to achieve that lighter look?? or if u know about a web page with instructions on how to preare nd apply that would b nice... THANK YOU.
I colored my hair back in March and the only thing i regret is not going lighter lol I still love the color though. I would suggest deep conditioning about a week before you do the color and then a protein treatment about 1-2 weeks afterwards. I haven't experienced any breakage or anything because i keep my hair moisturized. I personally use Shea Moisture products but if you have a moisturizer that works well for your hair then that should be fine.
That color combination would look great on you...However, I've colored my hair before and I HATED that I did it. BUT, I did it when my hair was still short, so it grew out quickly. Sometimes color, depending on the volume of peroxide used (i.e. 30, 40, etc.), can have a slight relaxing effect on your hair. If you decide to color only one half, keep in mind that your hair might end up being two textures (even if it's just a minor difference). After 6 yrs, I've grown to love henna!... Much Love!
I haven't met any natural who colors her hair who doesn't regret doing so after a while. Thats why I don't. However, I would henna and I'm actually looking forward to trying that in about 6 months... Keep us posted on your decision.

I highlight my hair instead of dying it, because IMO highlights grow out more gracefully without having to do regular touch ups.
But I love color on natural hair. Lighter colors give curls more dimension & pizazz!
