David Fincher is one of my favorite directors. After brilliant Seven, Alien 3, Fight Club and Panic Room I had to watch Zodiac too. It was real challenge cause the story is based on true events. The whole film was good but still not what I'd expect. The atmos[here wasn't as scary/thrilling as it was in The Silence of the Lambs, Copycat, Seven or even The Zodiac (version 2005 with Justin Chambers & Robin Tunney). Anyway Mark Ruffalo showed brilliant acting. Gyllenhaal & Downey Jr. were great too
@AndyJmovies. Love the review after watching a documentary about the zodiac killer I was pretty fascinated how creepy and calculated he is or was. So I would like to see this thanks for renewing old reviews! It's just what I wanted!
Only recently getting into fincher's films- when fight club and se7en came out I was to young to watch them but have ordered both and watched se7en recently- brilliant film loved the look and the story of it- if I liked se7en will I like zodiac more or less?
@kerseyrules tough question in a sense but i would say probably the same but for different reasons. Zodiac is more methodical and slower but it still has the key elements of seven, but seven has more action. i'd say deffo see zodiac but go in expected the same genre of seven but a more..maybe..thoughtful experience? i'm not sure how to put it sorry lol
as you said visually its stunning and the performances are superb, a very underrated and overlooked film. Loved the soundtrack and thought all the murder scenes were fantastic
Fincher has an amazing ability to blend a song and a scene together perfectly
e.g start of this, end of fight club
also loved the way it ended
at 3 hours though it can test patience
but wud rather a film take its time and tell a story well
