ford chassis has the most corrosive chassis in any truck, chevy is the nastiest and sticky. dodge is the heviest, tundra is more like none pro welders assemble it. but the design covers up everything. but for me i go toyota just becuase the engine make long last than any trucks.
Man all these folks hatin on Toyota can suck it, I have 202217 miles on my 2001 2wd sr5 (extensive mods list) but I just changed the original plugs two days ago, 200k on stock spark plugs fucking ridiculous, this beast won't die
You can only imagine how quick this truck is because the stock truck by itself is certainly no slouch. That i-Force V-8 is a beast. My Father has an 09 Tundra Crew Max 4 x 4 that he let me borrow a couple times to move things that I needed a pick up to do. You rest your foot on the throttle on the Interstate and you're doing 80-85 without even trying, the motor is barely even working hard!
Why anyone would choose any other brand is quite beyond me, I'm 50 some years old, owned several models of each brand, had major problems with all of them except the last three trucks which are Toyota's! My first one just won't die at 380k, my second one is still flying up and down I-5 as a delivery truck and my new Tundra is the best vehicle so far, just saying...
i love everything about this truck except that it is 4 wheel drive and its not a regular cab. i just dont really understand putting a blower on a 4x4.
@jmesutherland and thats because they saved a ton of weight......on a flimsy frame. Which sucks, because I love the look of the truck, but to stick a frame that isn't fully boxed on a full size truck is just lazy. If you don't ever plan on leaving the pavement with them then its fine, but the second you take it off road....its noticeable....very noticeable.
@AbaddonsAnimosity Actually the frame isn't flimsy, they proved it to be quite the opposite when they brought the truck out in 2007 and it out towed every other truck in its same class. I've been offroad with the Tundra on the sand dunes in Dubai and it was great. The current Dodge Ram 4x4 Quad Cab weighs in at 5,291 lbs, the Chevy at 5,423 lbs so the Tundra is still a bit heavier than they are but the weight isn't what makes it better. All the trucks have their own pro's and con's.
@jmesutherland I see you didn't mention FORD! Because you know the FORD is the best! I have no facts to back it up but it's true! FORD yeah! Woohoo! Yeah! FORD! ....and that is my impression of a ford fan.
@AbaddonsAnimosity I recently picked up a load of crushed stone for a friend with my 08 Tundra. The idiot loader operator dumped the whole bucket into the bed of the truck. They weighed her on the way out of the yard and the scale indicated 2.65 tons payload. I was astonished they let me take the truck on the road. There is no problem with the frame on this machine. Engineering is what it's all about; box design looks good on paper but less can actually be more. Amazing.
@searchlight22 That could very well be the case now. The last one I was under was a few years old. They may have possibly boxed the frame or made some improvements as of late. Regardless...I love these trucks. Most aggressive look on the street with a stock pickup. period.
@AbaddonsAnimosity Have just had the truck for a short time so I have not looked underneath, but I have driven 2 new 4 door F150's and you can see tons of body flex when you look at the sides through the mirrors when driving. Also, when slamming the door you can see how everything just shakes like it was 20 years old. The Toyota on the other hand is very solid on both counts. It drives like a Chev, which I like, actually the ride quality is superb. WIsh it was better on fuel though.
@searchlight22 that is a veeery common issue with full sized ford pickups. The back body is very flimsy. Aside from that I like the them short of the ugly 90s body style.
@AbaddonsAnimosity I work in Northern Alberta's oil patch, over 50% of my day is off-road on some of the worst roads on this planet. I am 50+ yrs old and have driven and owned a multitude of european, japanese and american vehicles and to infer that a fully boxed frame is the answer is ludicrous.....have you ever owned a Mecedes Unimog? I have. Their frame is not boxed and is designed to be flexible....
@oilrush Own one? I've helped resto one from the ground up. Although i see your point, the unimog is a completely different animal than a street truck.
@AbaddonsAnimosity I agree, just trying to make the point that some chassis designs are designed to flex and that a boxed frame is naturally stiffer, less flexible and is not necessarily better hence the Unimog example
His is a crewcab short bed with TrD exhaust system. He wants to sell that to me dirt ass cheap. What will I have to do to fab that on my single cab long bed?
He said he was climbing into it pretty hard an then it sounded like the valves started to float and then it lost everything. Big puddle of royal purple under it lol.
@crashaddict71 yup ventilated teh crankcase. ever figure out why it happened? was friend a lil too eager with it? did he not flash computer? somethign weird. toyota sells tehse thigns, so i know they work. PROVIDED all install instrux are followed. and no corners are cut. i wonder what happened?
He priced it to me CHEAP! Lol and yeah it includes everything. I've had the hots for a s/c since he got one and I now I actually have a chance to get one but idk if I do since I saw his motor go boom lol
@crashaddict71 Hmmm... I think you should send it to me so I can "check" it out for you LOL. If he can verify what caused his engine to blow I'd do that. You're going to want to look through the charger for any metal shavings etc too. See any of that don't bother with it. Otherwise enjoy.
My friend just blew the side out of his block supercharged 5.7 tundra. Anyone else have any problems cause he wants to sell me the supercharger now for my tundra and I'm kinda sketchy?
@crashaddict71 1st I've ever heard of this and we've sold A LOT. How much does he want for it and do you get everything? Check out site for the installs we'll have the full contents of the kit there.
@jmesutherland What about my 5.7L 300C with K&N Intake/Filter ?
I was going to put Loudmouth 1 cat-back exhaust on, Sidewinder Cam, JBA short-tube headers, predator tune, and found GF Performance chip Regualr $399 on for $60.. Never heard of it, Claims to add 60hp and 4-7mpg.
Could you reply on a guesstiment ? Thatd be great.
Oh and I found the LM1 exhaust for $649, $749 shipped to my door, and $300 for the cam.. Store near me has the Diablo tuner for $499.. thanks
@pjwallington Any time you hear of a performance chip that is going to add that much HP and increase your MPG that much is pretty much a scam. There isn't a performance chip that can do that kind of increase in power and/or mpg unless you're driving a diesel. Regarding the other mods we're a Toyota dealer and haven't had the opportunity to use those brand of parts unfortunately. Hope that helps some.
@youiable They don't come in any package you would have to purchase it after the vehicle has been purchased according to Toyota. There is always ways around that though :-). Retail on the superchager is $6100 and we've seen lots of dealers charge a lot more than that. Our price is $5500.
@kenfo0 It's not me giggling that would be the customer. You'd probably giggle like that too if you drove the truck. All the information you need is found online on our site trdsparks(dot)com
@jmesutherland I am a man. I know you may have never seen one before, but it's true. Men don't giggle like little girls. Not even when they drive trucks.
in order for you to have this supercharger installed in your truck would you need to make any other modifications to the truck? example: changing the exaust?
@alecyfz , They are very reliable and do not void the warranty. In fact they are backed under the remainder of your powertrain warranty when installed by a Toyota Dealer.
1) Do you have any 0-60 or 1/4 mile times on this ?
2) Has the TRD now let the SC be placed on FFV engines ?
I'm looking at either the Tundra Crewmax or the SRT8 Jeep. Reliability-wise the Tundra would be better, however, that SRT8 Jeep is pretty tough with 420 HP AWD stock. Have you raced one of these in your Tundra ? Result ?
@pitster 1) I dont have any times for my truck since I havent taken it to the strip. v6accord times are pretty accurate. 2) I dont know if they have yet best to ask the guys at sparks they were the ones who did the work on my truck. I would go with the Tundra the perfect sleeper. With the s/c and my exhaust the guys at sparks estimate my truck at about 515hp
@dapa1980 yes I was running 4wd in all the runs shown here. Its very hard to get traction in 2wd and the traction control shut off. In 2wd with it on the rear will spin kicking the traction control on and hold the engine back resulting in lower times.
Absolutely, just like jmesutherland said, the supercharger could do nothing but HELP, now imagine if you had the s/c AND had it re-geared for those gi-normous tires? :-D
The s/c itself runs around 5300 plus install which takes about 8 to 10 hrs labor expensive but the results are well worth it believe me thats my truck and it been ALOT of fun! The crew at Sparks can set you up
I just bought a new Tundra 5.7. I also have a six inch lift with massive 37 inch tires on 22 inch wheels. I got a lot of power but curious to know if down the line I want more power, can I get the supercharger on my truck with a lift and big wheels?
No, the TRD edition is simply different alloy 18" wheels and a slightly beefier suspension. There are two new editions for 2009 that go a few steps further but there are not any Tundra's that come with it already installed unless the dealer does it themselves. Its a great factory add on though!
whats a good tire and tire size for mud on my stock tundra if i lift up the front a lil to match the back? cause the back is already lifted a little for towing.
@ababyduck1337 I wouldn't mess with the Tires man, Just the way it's set up, If you mess with the Sizes, It could most likely mess up your Transfer Case. ( If it is a 4x4 )
Actually there is now a supercharged TRD Tundra that comes supercharged from the factory. It is a reg cab and has a TON of other stuff like bigger wheels, big break kit and a S/C. Only thing is the 45K price tag.

One of our CUSTOMERS came by to have us install the TRD Supercharger and we happened to have a camera to film it. The TRD Dual Exhaust really made the truck perform! "
The CUSTOMER is the one driving, we rode along wth him... It was not us driving around in the customers car. We sat in the backseat and video taped his reaction to his first time ever driving the truck.
I have a sequoia. Has anyone done this to a sequoia? Do you think the rear end would change the dynamic of the SC? Plaes post a video of the Sequoia if you have it.
Sure we've sold quite a few Sequoia kits but we have not installed any here locally. They make a kit specifically for your Sequoia so you won't hurt anything.
Your truck actually performs better all the way around. Its much more efficient so you will get better gas mileage, the engine doesn't work as hard when under load, and the S/C is covered under your Tundra's warranty. Plus when you want to play with the SRT-8 next to you, you'll have no problem beating him... :-)
thats a dumb thing to say lol. no offense, but a supercharged tundra isnt gonna beat an srt8 in any kind of race. not a factory warrantied supercharger anyways. you can only have so much boost before it voids it.
Its not exactly a dumb thing to say when its true :-), the SRT-8 Charger 0-60 time is no better than 5 seconds, most people get it in 5.4 range. The Tundra regular cab gets it in 4.4 seconds with the Factory S/C and the Double Cab is getting it in 4.67 seconds. So no offense taken :-)
Quick edit: The Jeep is for some reason the quickest of the SRT8's probably because of its ablility to lauch and gets 0-60 in 4.7 which would probably make the red light runs just up to whoever hit the gas the quickest. And I think the Jeep looks sick and sounds bad ass with that exhaust in the center like that. Its nuts!
come on man...4.4 seconds? its way too heavy to do that without slicks. i like the tundras, but i know thats a lie. the quickest supercharged tundra vid on here is a 13.9 or so. on street tires anyways. my charger ran a 13.04 stock, and a 12.63 with a tuner and cai. stock tires.
Man just because you don't know doesn't mean I'm lying. Just do a search for Motor Trend TRD Supercharged Tundra, there is your 4.4 second Tundra. Then do a search on YouTube for "Tundra 4.67 seconds 0-60" there is your video proof. Its cool your car was able to go that fast, much faster than the other stock ones that get the 1/4 in the 13.5 range. Not trying to argue just show my Tundra owners reasons why they would want to have this TRD S/C installed :-)
im not dissin on the supercharged tundras...theyre still badass. i guess i just didnt think about the fact that most of them are running the 1/8th mile. so i guess they could in theory get to 60 that quick before their wall like aerodynamics stops them lol.
Yeah I've seen that truck before, its crazy fast for being NA but still a lot of time and a lot of money in getting it that way. We just installed another S/C on a Regular Cab Short Bed Tundra its going to easily be in the 12's if we can get the guy to run it! I wish we had people that were doing more mods for the motor of the Tundra there is no telling how fast that thing could be. :-)
Yes thats it, 0-60 in 4.67 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 13.1 in a full size 4x4 truck is slow, not many cars are faster that those numbers let alone another truck.
There is a slight difference between a wrx and a tundra....and for one to run the same times and speeds as the other says a fair amount.
Go test drive a 5.7 tundra, bare stock they are fast for a truck, and flat out fast period. I have a 2wd DC 5.7. This summer I am going to work and try to save up for the SC. I can not imagine how fast it is with it.
over the past few years rhe f150 tow capacity has gone from around 8500 to 1100. all on the same engine and ring gear. it usually getts bumped up when a competitor raises the bar. toyota makes the best vehicles lb 4 lb offered. companies like ford dodge and gm should learn from toyota and build right th 1st time
I guess looks can be deceiving since in stock form the Tundra is faster than both of those trucks, then you add Toyota's supercharger and now your in the Porsche Cayanne Turbo territory for much less than half the price, with more room and much more towing capacity. Read the above comments to see how fast the truck is. :-) You would be very surprised, we all were...
I don't know where your at, but if you can come by here in Myrtle Beach, SC I'll take you for a ride. The stock Tundra's have 381HP and 401 lb/tq and with the charger it bumps up to 504hp and 550 lb/tq.
im in maryland but ive got dealers around me but im more of a chevy man you know and ive got a silverado and i beat the tacoma trd my nefu had one and i driven it and i was peddleing that tacoma see i didint think the tundra was all that because of there last models so im going tohave to ride in one the silverado i know comes with a 6.0 my truck is a 4.3 and it hauls ass
Yeah, you definately need to go drive one... :-) The stock 5.7 Tundra goes 0-60 in under 6 seconds too, so its still pretty fast even when stock. Plus they can tow 10,500lbs, and we've got guys that regularly tow 13,000 lbs with no problems.
ford chassis has the most corrosive chassis in any truck, chevy is the nastiest and sticky. dodge is the heviest, tundra is more like none pro welders assemble it. but the design covers up everything. but for me i go toyota just becuase the engine make long last than any trucks.

dapa1980 2 years ago
@dapa1980 yes I was running 4wd in all the runs shown here. Its very hard to get traction in 2wd and the traction control shut off. In 2wd with it on the rear will spin kicking the traction control on and hold the engine back resulting in lower times.

I'm proud to say that I was one of the many who rode in that very same truck. ;)

This truck hauls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
jaguarnumber9 2 years ago 5
More torque and a flatter torque curve for towing.
Beldar4214 2 years ago
Absolutely, just like jmesutherland said, the supercharger could do nothing but HELP, now imagine if you had the s/c AND had it re-geared for those gi-normous tires? :-D

how much does the trd supercharger for this truck cost?
graffitimaster27 2 years ago
The s/c itself runs around 5300 plus install which takes about 8 to 10 hrs labor expensive but the results are well worth it believe me thats my truck and it been ALOT of fun! The crew at Sparks can set you up
rcpd57 2 years ago
I just bought a new Tundra 5.7. I also have a six inch lift with massive 37 inch tires on 22 inch wheels. I got a lot of power but curious to know if down the line I want more power, can I get the supercharger on my truck with a lift and big wheels?
JayTsay 2 years ago
Why wouldnt you be able to get the s/c?
haddix22 2 years ago
im not a toyota tech but i dont think that having the suspention lift would be a problem
biffnacid 2 years ago
big wheels and tires and a lift makes no difference for possibilities under the hood
silencetrigger22 2 years ago
You would not have a problem at all. The charger would help a lot to move those bigger wheels and tires!
jmesutherland 2 years ago
damn i wanna see this thing
Exskaterx21 2 years ago
@JayTsay yeah, 504 hp of help! After the install, they have 504-5 hp. So about a Corvette z06 after!

if you buy a tundra trd does it automatically come with that supercharger?
ababyduck1337 3 years ago
No, the TRD edition is simply different alloy 18" wheels and a slightly beefier suspension. There are two new editions for 2009 that go a few steps further but there are not any Tundra's that come with it already installed unless the dealer does it themselves. Its a great factory add on though!
jmesutherland 3 years ago
whats a good tire and tire size for mud on my stock tundra if i lift up the front a lil to match the back? cause the back is already lifted a little for towing.
ababyduck1337 3 years ago
Not sure about tires to be honest. Tirerack would be a great place to call up they are more than helpful.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
@ababyduck1337 I wouldn't mess with the Tires man, Just the way it's set up, If you mess with the Sizes, It could most likely mess up your Transfer Case. ( If it is a 4x4 )
gibsonlespaul2 1 year ago
@gibsonlespaul2 there is programmers that can compensate for different tire sizes. it aslo recalibrates trhe speedo for u.
mkIIIsupras 1 year ago
Actually there is now a supercharged TRD Tundra that comes supercharged from the factory. It is a reg cab and has a TON of other stuff like bigger wheels, big break kit and a S/C. Only thing is the 45K price tag.
07swbxrunner 2 years ago
Its not really a factory option its more like a dealer package. Not all dealers will have this. But either way a killer truck and package.
jmesutherland 2 years ago
@07swbxrunner, yea it's called a Tundra Rock Warrior

One of our CUSTOMERS came by to have us install the TRD Supercharger and we happened to have a camera to film it. The TRD Dual Exhaust really made the truck perform! "
MikeRotch40475 3 years ago
The CUSTOMER is the one driving, we rode along wth him... It was not us driving around in the customers car. We sat in the backseat and video taped his reaction to his first time ever driving the truck.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
I have a sequoia. Has anyone done this to a sequoia? Do you think the rear end would change the dynamic of the SC? Plaes post a video of the Sequoia if you have it.
keithfries 3 years ago
Sure we've sold quite a few Sequoia kits but we have not installed any here locally. They make a kit specifically for your Sequoia so you won't hurt anything.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
how much use do you give to the truck because I drive to work everyday and I would like to know if this would be a problem having my tundra s/c?
thanks.......
elputo07621 3 years ago
Your truck actually performs better all the way around. Its much more efficient so you will get better gas mileage, the engine doesn't work as hard when under load, and the S/C is covered under your Tundra's warranty. Plus when you want to play with the SRT-8 next to you, you'll have no problem beating him... :-)
jmesutherland 3 years ago
thats a dumb thing to say lol. no offense, but a supercharged tundra isnt gonna beat an srt8 in any kind of race. not a factory warrantied supercharger anyways. you can only have so much boost before it voids it.
ristika89 3 years ago
Its not exactly a dumb thing to say when its true :-), the SRT-8 Charger 0-60 time is no better than 5 seconds, most people get it in 5.4 range. The Tundra regular cab gets it in 4.4 seconds with the Factory S/C and the Double Cab is getting it in 4.67 seconds. So no offense taken :-)
jmesutherland 3 years ago
Quick edit: The Jeep is for some reason the quickest of the SRT8's probably because of its ablility to lauch and gets 0-60 in 4.7 which would probably make the red light runs just up to whoever hit the gas the quickest. And I think the Jeep looks sick and sounds bad ass with that exhaust in the center like that. Its nuts!
jmesutherland 3 years ago
come on man...4.4 seconds? its way too heavy to do that without slicks. i like the tundras, but i know thats a lie. the quickest supercharged tundra vid on here is a 13.9 or so. on street tires anyways. my charger ran a 13.04 stock, and a 12.63 with a tuner and cai. stock tires.
ristika89 3 years ago
Man just because you don't know doesn't mean I'm lying. Just do a search for Motor Trend TRD Supercharged Tundra, there is your 4.4 second Tundra. Then do a search on YouTube for "Tundra 4.67 seconds 0-60" there is your video proof. Its cool your car was able to go that fast, much faster than the other stock ones that get the 1/4 in the 13.5 range. Not trying to argue just show my Tundra owners reasons why they would want to have this TRD S/C installed :-)
jmesutherland 3 years ago
im not dissin on the supercharged tundras...theyre still badass. i guess i just didnt think about the fact that most of them are running the 1/8th mile. so i guess they could in theory get to 60 that quick before their wall like aerodynamics stops them lol.
ristika89 3 years ago
i would kill these bastards if i knew they were messing with my truck and beasting on its engine, it some dudes car damn have some respect
suprakilzz26 3 years ago
Who's killing who's truck? Your comment may be a little out of line. Thats the owner driving his own truck. :-)

that fast tundra
lylonely 3 years ago 2
this truck is quick but some dude on here toomnymods has a 12 sec ALL MOTOR titan, no nitrous no s/c just cams and bolt ons and a rebuilt tranny.
NissanTy 3 years ago
Yeah I've seen that truck before, its crazy fast for being NA but still a lot of time and a lot of money in getting it that way. We just installed another S/C on a Regular Cab Short Bed Tundra its going to easily be in the 12's if we can get the guy to run it! I wish we had people that were doing more mods for the motor of the Tundra there is no telling how fast that thing could be. :-)
jmesutherland 3 years ago
I agree the Tundra is really bad ass....:)
I never been in love with a truck before....

Now this is lame.
I guess it might seem fast to these guys because they just stepped out of a camry.
ExMxer 3 years ago
Yes thats it, 0-60 in 4.67 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 13.1 in a full size 4x4 truck is slow, not many cars are faster that those numbers let alone another truck.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
umm the V6 camry is fast....your point?? same 0-60 and the WRX
Toyota4Life 3 years ago
There is a slight difference between a wrx and a tundra....and for one to run the same times and speeds as the other says a fair amount.
Go test drive a 5.7 tundra, bare stock they are fast for a truck, and flat out fast period. I have a 2wd DC 5.7. This summer I am going to work and try to save up for the SC. I can not imagine how fast it is with it.
tampafl222 3 years ago
over the past few years rhe f150 tow capacity has gone from around 8500 to 1100. all on the same engine and ring gear. it usually getts bumped up when a competitor raises the bar. toyota makes the best vehicles lb 4 lb offered. companies like ford dodge and gm should learn from toyota and build right th 1st time
bradwebertoyota 3 years ago
Yeah I saw that too, just didn't want to get into all the sticky details, I think the F150 that tows the 11,000lbs is a regular cab long bed only.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
The Tundra and the newest Silverado is both at 10,500, the new F-150 is at 11,000 so your book is pretty close.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
the tundra crew cab tows more than the f150 crew cab. its only at 11000 lbs if equiped correctly
dukviper90 3 years ago
what thats all. a silverado and a f150 are just as fast with out that it looked slow
sasserdave 3 years ago
I guess looks can be deceiving since in stock form the Tundra is faster than both of those trucks, then you add Toyota's supercharger and now your in the Porsche Cayanne Turbo territory for much less than half the price, with more room and much more towing capacity. Read the above comments to see how fast the truck is. :-) You would be very surprised, we all were...
jmesutherland 3 years ago
i think i need to ride in one because they dont look fast and i seen one and it looked like it could not tow a little bit of lumber
sasserdave 3 years ago
I don't know where your at, but if you can come by here in Myrtle Beach, SC I'll take you for a ride. The stock Tundra's have 381HP and 401 lb/tq and with the charger it bumps up to 504hp and 550 lb/tq.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
im in maryland but ive got dealers around me but im more of a chevy man you know and ive got a silverado and i beat the tacoma trd my nefu had one and i driven it and i was peddleing that tacoma see i didint think the tundra was all that because of there last models so im going tohave to ride in one the silverado i know comes with a 6.0 my truck is a 4.3 and it hauls ass
sasserdave 3 years ago
Yeah, you definately need to go drive one... :-) The stock 5.7 Tundra goes 0-60 in under 6 seconds too, so its still pretty fast even when stock. Plus they can tow 10,500lbs, and we've got guys that regularly tow 13,000 lbs with no problems.
jmesutherland 3 years ago
if im correct my book says 10.300 and then for the silveado is 10.500 and the f150 has 11.000 and the ram is 9.100 the titan is 9.500
sasserdave 3 years ago
myrtle beach?? i go there every summer lol seriously, i wanna see this truck. has it been at the track near the waccamaw shopping outlet down there?
t1cketking 3 years ago
The round track? Its not a nascar truck! :-)
jmesutherland 3 years ago
hahaha, i didnt know if it had a drag strip or not right beside of it like we do up here at bristol.
t1cketking 3 years ago
Nah, they have a 1/8th mile in North Myrtle but its still the stores truck so we can't beat it up too much.

I came twice
mgallegos55 3 years ago
this would be a great truck to make some 16 yr old kids with their crappy little cars with fart can exhaust really embarrassed :)
skyline44512 3 years ago
It'll do more than that, its quicker than the SRT-8 Jeep, the Porsche Cayanne Turbo, and the BMW SUV's. 0-60 in 4.67 seconds!!!
jmesutherland 3 years ago
sweet!
