@timppa600 I've heard you have to be cautious about how used the battery is...if you got a used one it might be a good idea to replace the battery, which I believe isn't too cheap. I don't know for sure though, you should ask someone at a dealership or repair shop.

@LauraLou19413 The "B-Mode" is a type of braking gear, in the simplest of terms. You'd only use it, say, going down a very steep hill to save the regenerative braking system.

I've had a 2nd generation prius about a year now, had a battery issue early on but all now ok, I get 59MPG without trying very hard, in fact Ive turned the dispaly off and its improved when I did this... go figure lol, very smooth comfortable drive, not good in deep snow, but apart from that, all ok

I freaked out the first time I stopped at a light and the gas engine shut off. Thought the car broke down. You get used to it though. My 2003 has over 250000 miles on it and I've never replaced a thing on it.

I'd say that the one redeeming feature about this Prius is the leather interior. and some piano black trim. Otherwise, there are a LOT more cars that look better for less money that are better for the environment. Might I suggest one takes the bus? Or maybe drive a diesel.

Exactly, they have no idea how much harm those Priuses do. There's no safe way to recycle the batteries you have to replace every few years, the tiny engine is extremely underpowered - you can barely overtake on the freeway - and it produces an enormous carbon footprint to produce those batteries.

well the battery can only last so long eventually it won't hold a charge and the car i assume won't start.

The batteries have been tested and have been seen to go up over 160k and have almost full charge, it all depends on what you read
