i remember playing this game on atari . the code was all 3 arrows up , but it was abit different ,,,,,, we used to hit an object ( i called it captain) and color changed frm blue to green , green to purple and so on

Do you or does anyone know about the River Raid glitch on the Atari 2600 Jr. (or perhaps on other Atari version too) where you would "wriggle" the cartridge a little bit & a love letter would appear ? - now I can't remember the exact wording but it was something along the lines of asking someone to marry them & it had a picture of a love heart ?

Cmon man, there has to be somebody out there that knows about this !! Pls share your knowledge of it if you do !!

Wow, I can't believe it, I actually found it. First things first, my apologies that its actually not on the river raid game as such, however the hidden message is on the "Super Hit Pack", that included river raid. These were the games on this cartridge:

so in terms of the secret / hidden message, details as follows:

A secret message is hidden inside this game. To activate it you have to hold down the Fire buttons on both joysticks when you power up your VCS. The menu will now turn into the following message: (six hearts) I LOVE YOU BERNADETTE I LOVE YOU BERNADETTE (six hearts)

If you now move the left joystick while still holding down the buttons, the second half of the message will turn into: WILL YOU MARRY ME? SKID

I remember watching my dad play this game. It was his favorite. He had it on 5200 though and it had a couple different enemies including a tank that rolled across the bridge and hot air balloons lol

There is an ENDING! I have beat it.. there are of course credits at the end...after you beat it.. the game plays itself while the credits roll. Like I stated.. this is the first game I ever beat. glad youre with me 23house23 :)

maybe there isnt credits.. but im pretty sure there was. I do remember after you beat it there are like 6 jets 3 on each side of the screen that pass by kinda air show style! I didnt even know river raid was on the c64 lol

@CDiFan237 I think it doesn't. I played this for four days once, suiciding only when time for dinner and sleep, and racking up 54 extra lives before concluding to myself that this is the equivalent of having "beaten" the game, as it presented no challenge anymore.

I mean you reach 100.000 your points go back to ZERO ! And after the next BRIDGE you blow, you recognize that IT IS the very first section of the river. With the same number of fuel tanks etc...

I didn't get to meet the wrinkled old despot at the palace, nor a parade through the city center, nor a victory music. NOTHING !

It should be flashing, but because of the frame rate the capture card runs on, sometimes it stays red.

I just wanted to see if it would work with my video capture card, and it did.

Because the Atari 2600 uses an RF cable, I can't plug it directly into the capture card, I have to plug the Atari into a video recorder, then plug the video recorder into the capture card, and that's how I record from my Atari.
