It's a tiny seaside resort in North Wales, very popular with the working classes of the North of England. Bit of a running joke, with it being placed when he sings "where's the land of hope but not quite?" as there are probably a million sob stories in Rhyl at any given of someone who 'could/should/would have been...'
i love Rhyl, I've been going since practically birth, and it has taken a lot of stick over the years, and I think that's what the point of the sign was. Hope that helps lol
'When you call me a useless Druggie least you get half it right' i needed to hear this tonight, i now really belive i fate after clicking on this one by mistake when i really needed a chuckle........................
The lyrics on the tax payer being ripped-off (subliminal) retrospective and now up-to-date is spot on. As always...

Nice video. It's a shame this was never shown on TV- but then, since music videos are aimed at kiddies you can see why.

I always loved the song, but never saw the video. It's brilliant; just like Paul is. Love his new album...

another great beauitful south tune i havn't got a clue why it didn't do better in the charts then it did
russ7510 3 years ago
It didn't do better in the charts, because like all TBS records after 2000, it was criminally ignored by the playlisters at Radio 1.

The second graphic that goes along with "Bono or Sting" makes Paul look just like Rod Stewart, imo.

That's because it's a brilliant single that nobody bought. While not their worst charting single, it only reached no. 30 in the UK charts.
