I agree that there would be no Jackson 5 without the brothers but Michael's ability to sing didn't depend on the band he could have sang "Climb every mountain" and have been signed as a solo artist and STILL become a pop sensation, if anything Jackson mania kept him from coming into his own sooner. BUT this IS a great song...didn't know Jackie had it in him

I agree with you on that. MJ really didn't need his brothers to be a solo success which was proven as Motown presented MJ as both a group artist and solo artist with great success. But this is a very nice song by Jackie. I think had he been backed as much as MJ and Jermaine, he probably would have had a much more successful solo career. Not as big as MJ, but moderately successful.

@MrsMJ2007 To tell you the truth MrsMJ...my HONEST opinion is no matter how talented the family members were as apposed to regular people none of them would have lasted in the spotlight themselves......and I'm sure everyone will start thinking "what about Janet?" Just think back to when Janet got seriously relevant what REALLY got Janet that break....and then if you're a true fan well....you know who she took it from. Actually, it is a fact that Janet indeed took her cues from MJ. That's why she ended up with a very successful solo career. Plus she and MJ both had that charisma and that "it" factor. Both were also willing to put in that hard work. Any successful business person will tell you that you have to sacrifice a lot in order to make it to the top and stay there. But you know you're wrong for the "trolls" comment. LOL. :)

@MrsMJ2007 Actually Mj DID need his brothers for success. MJ was made the lead singer WITH JERMAINE. Bother brothers did solo at the time and both were successful. However. Berry Gordy was about to end the contract with the brothers, EXCEPT JERMAINE who he was training to take over from Marvion gaye.It was Joe Jackson who put his family on TV to shjowcase his family's talent that you need to thank for MJ's career. He also decided to take them from motown and sign them up with Epic.

No, it was Michael who carried his family to success. They couldn't make that move from Motown to CBS without Michael's okay. He was the real showman and businessman. Joe may have started them out on the basics. But there was still no guarantee they would be successful. As with many artists, there has to be someone behind you with a name to help open that door. Without the training and promoting from the people at Motown, the J5 may not have had such success.
