this is not rebuilding the caliper, and that piston should be replaced, what u called the seal was only a dust boot, total waste of time, you must fully strip the caliper as it has a seal that seals hydraulic from the mechanical handbrake lever down the bottom of the caliper!!
How did you find the quatlity of the kit from Big Red, I'm contemplating buying one to do a repair on my brake caliper as the piston seal has gone but worried about the quality
@Lil306 I found it to be good qualitty but then again I didnt have the honda part to compare it with. It passed the MOT and didnt leak. Overall I had no problems, i'd go with big red and save a few quid. Hope this helps
@supersesqui Im sorry this video is not upto your high standards. The idea was to make a basic video covering the process of the rebuild. I admit I should of taken more pictures of the process but then im not a professional how to-er. Its actually quite difficult to take pics when your hands/gloves are covered in brake fluid. Anyhow what have you bought to the youtube table? Nothing it seems.
As your profile says you are a "jack of all trades master of none". So on this topic what have YOU brought to Youtube ?.........why put up a video which is concerning major safety issues which is as I said before is uninformative, unprofessional and shows no real info on how to actually do the jobs safely. Please stick to making cheap money belts.
@supersesqui I have bought alot to youtube as my profile shows, yours shows nothing. Im sure if people were concerned with safety issues they wouldnt even contemplate attempting the rebuild. A leaky caliper will be shown upon bleeding the system so theres nothing dangerous about what I have shown or on all the millions of other youtube videos that show similar jobs. If we have to bring red tape/bureaucracy/health and safety to youtube then there wouldnt be any videos. You sir...are small minded
@jparmz55 Are you talking about the seal shown at 1.20? If so all I can suggest is checking its the right way round and lubing it with a bit of brake fluid. When its on the car it wont move enough to be able to pop out (due to the brake pads being there). But if its unscrewed whilst off the car the piston can travel enough so that the seal will pop out. Also check you have replaced the spring, I believe that regulates how much the piston can be unscrewed. Hope that helps

doesnt the dust boot go under the piston??? in the vid it only showed the dust boot on the top portion of the piston

@jparmz55 I slid the boot over the piston then screwed the piston down, as you screw the piston down it will seal in the caliper.

@nickynoo747 ive been trying that over and over and then when i go to unscrew it a little i notice it did not slip into the lip
