Watch the ropes as well. When Alvarez is against the ropes you see both the ref and ring side people shoving hard on the ropes, when Kawajiri is against the ropes you see them hold the rope firm. I am glad Alvarez won in the end. Great fight.

Goldberg just has the voice that could pump you up for a game of checkers, and rogan has the knowledge of the game and is pretty funny. It's more with the judging system that's causing so many UFC fights to go to the decision. There are pros and cons for both ring and cage. The ring requires constant restarts (I've always felt they should put a net around the bottom rope so to reduce peoples legs going out when sprawling) and the cage promotes stalling and hugging (Randy Couture anyone?).
IMO a ring is the universal sign of fighting...whether its real or not...(pro wrestling) but the cage always will push the action because you cant stick your head out of the cage.
Rings to me will always equal japan mma and there are some legendary fights from pride, k1, and dream.
Different fighters prefer different rings.
A grappler will almost always prefer a cage, and a striker a ring....some dont care, and are good enough to adapt in either one.
Unless you like constant restarts and fighters getting caught in the ropes. Rings are for Pride nostalgists. Watch Dream 12, they used the ring and it was unreal
Yes. The 155 division in the UFC is the Oakland Raiders of MMA. Aside from BJ Penn, there are NO good fighters. Bellator and Dream have all of the best lighter weight fighters.

UFC 3 out of 5 times would've stopped the fight after Kawajiri knocked Alvarez at about the 5:30 mark of the fight. Good referee work in this fight.

@mbauer08 Nope. Gray Maynard, Tyson Griffin, Evan Dunham, Nate Diaz, Diego Sanchez, KenFlo, they would all beat Alvarez. Alvarez would be in the bottom 2-3 of the UFC'S top 10 @ 55. .

@mbauer08 Nope. Alvarez isn't half the wrestler Gray Maynard and Tyson Griffin are. Alvarez isn't half the striker Penn and Edgar are. Alvarez would be about 7th or 8th in the UFC's 55 division.

Love watching Eddie fight! He is the epitome of an exciting fighter. None of the boring wrestling and cage hugging that is currently filling the UFC. WAR fighting in a ring - DREAM Please dont go to the cage. Horrible move IMO.

@Kagemusha: Have you seen IVC videos? They used chicken wire between the bottom rope and ring. Fighters (particularly Mark Hall) became trapped under it and defenseless.

Yes. Its like wanderlei fighting in japan is far better than him fighting in ufc. I think the ufc cage is very claustrophobic and doesnt look as glamourous.

Hey i agree. I watch heros, pride, k1 japan and dreams more than i watch ufc.
As you said, theres something about japanese tournaments that american ones dont have.
Nothing to do with the fighters themselves though. Its just the tournament.

@womblewandering im completely agree its because the japanese fighters have to earn the recognition and stand and bang to win the fans over. In the ufc an overrated fighter beats one decent fighter even if it was by luck and they are then ranked in the top 10 somehow.

There are pros and cons for both ring and cage. The ring requires constant restarts (I've always felt they should put a net around the bottom rope so to reduce peoples legs going out when sprawling) and the cage promotes stalling and hugging (Randy Couture anyone?).

IMO a ring is the universal sign of fighting...whether its real or not...(pro wrestling) but the cage always will push the action because you cant stick your head out of the cage.
Rings to me will always equal japan mma and there are some legendary fights from pride, k1, and dream.
Different fighters prefer different rings.
A grappler will almost always prefer a cage, and a striker a ring....some dont care, and are good enough to adapt in either one.

Yes. The 155 division in the UFC is the Oakland Raiders of MMA. Aside from BJ Penn, there are NO good fighters. Bellator and Dream have all of the best lighter weight fighters.

@kloud51 yeh they are, but not all of them like with the UFC some of the fights aren't great for the casual fans. Also watch Sengoku, Strikeforce, and Bellator there pretty good too. Just because the UFC have great publicity and always put on a great show doesn't mean you have to listen to that fat shit Dana White.

@kloud51 Dream fights are always this good but you have to realize you are watching 2 top 10 LWs go at it and they are fullthrotel fighters I'd suggest watching Gilbert Melendez vs Kawajiri if you haven't seen it it's a hell of a fight.
