ya i have comptiplated suicide many times, and its becuase i think of when i will die, when my parents will, my brothers, and then im all alone, and when i do die, since i beleive in heaven, i dont want to live forever, it seems even more boring

id have to disagree on the people that are perfectly fine. granted there are some that do kill themselves for reason we see dumb and stupid..i knew a guy that killed himself cause his gf broke up with him. i really think the majority of people that commit suicide have some sort of mental illness or mental disability of some sort. i know thats how i am. depression IS a mental illness.

nice video. I actually feel guilty that i considered it not realising at the time what sort of pain that would cause my family. My mind set hasnt changed about it but my awarness of what this would do to loved ones has really stopped me from following through.
The Bridge really hit home for me, I lived nearby and I was thinking about jumping. Recently a net/fence has been put up to keep people from doing so. I'm glad they did that, it may not have completely stopped it, but it kept me from doing anything long enough to change my mind. The extra time left room for many good things to happen in my life I wouldn't have been alive to experience if I had jumped. Sometimes a little patience goes a long way.
I agree. There's always pro-life but then people are always fighting for pro-choice. If I no longer feel that life offers me any enjoyment or I feel that I've done everything I need to, then why shouldn't I be free to leave?

I've been told that's a curse of mine, and probably the only reason why I haven't finished the job yet. I'm now of the opinion, after all that I've put myself through, that everyone needs to take a deep breath and contemplate whether or not this is REALLY what they want, and if they're willing to accept the consequences. We're social animals, and we want to fit into society. If it fails, considering suicide begins. I think most of the suicidal cases are because of the society and its issues.
talking about suicide is complicated...say one wrong thing and you carry a burden...but...too many people do not even try to get through to a suicidal person...i can only hope your video has served a good purpose...i believe that is your intention...
Third, how can you say that suicide is selfish, when you have no idea what sort of pain the person that commits it goes through every minute of every day? There's no way for you to say that you know that the pain this person's death caused their loved one's was less than their own. IF it was more so than the family's, then aren't they being selfish by wanting the said person to continue existence when in much more pain than that which they might cause?
Second, no one cares about the shitty apartment you lived in, and how you were able to make it work for yourself. It's called determinism, which means that things in people's life happen due to the previous events that occurred. It might have worked out for you, but that doesn't mean it's the same for the next person.

From my depression I´ve had both suicide thoughts and thoughts about killing other people. I am a nice/kind guy but I have had thoughts about killing people at work, people at supermarkets and other random people.

I appreciate your message and what you're trying to say but we have to accept that those who want to commit suicide are not mentally sound to begin with. depression is a mental illness and is clearly a very serious medical condition when thoughts of suicide are entering your head. At the same time I do agree with what you're saying. Sometimes a message of support and even a kick in the butt can go a long way to stop the spiralling nature that would lead to suicide.

depression= not healthy. depression is not the only thing that leads to suicide. people commit suicide when they get caught for crimes to escape judicial punishment.(cowardly in my opinion). some religions justify suicide for the greater good in what they believe.(terrism) some people use suicide as a form of protest like starving themselves for a cause.

I know 2 people that have commited suicide and BOTH appeared happy to us. One of them was a succesful animator and was doing very well as a musician - touring the world, played on radio & tv, had a great girlfriend etc - then commited suicide. I had no idea he had been suffering from depression for over 5 years. To outsiders his life looked fantastic, but in his mind he was in a personal hell. This video is SO wrong.

A toilet that you can't use properly isn't going to lead to suicide. Your problem with "perfectly healthy people" commiting suicide is wrong - anyone who commits suicide is not healthy - they need help - someone close to them who can help out, listen, guide them to the right medical help and to be there. i don't know if it had a name... we visited a homeless shelter that i think they owned which was across the street from one of the houses on a feild trip about 3 or 5 years back, but i don't think it had a name.
I just want to say to everyone that is considering suicide: It's not the solution to your problems! It might seem good at the time, when everything sucks, but there IS a solution out there somewhere, you just have to find it first, and you can't just give up, no matter how hard it seems to be to find it!

...I know this for a fact because I have extreme depression issues at times. Being called a coward is not the way to reach someone most of the time they need a open ear with a open heart to help them in there time of need.
The true people who try to commit suicide do not tell anyone that there is a problem. The people who say that they want to kill themselves do not really want to 80-90% of these people are crying for help. In real perspective you still need to listen to them because they are begging for help. But when they stop asking for help and you notice that they are distance you must reach out to them because it is the time they need someone the most to help them.

The Bridge really hit home for me, I lived nearby and I was thinking about jumping. Recently a net/fence has been put up to keep people from doing so. I'm glad they did that, it may not have completely stopped it, but it kept me from doing anything long enough to change my mind. The extra time left room for many good things to happen in my life I wouldn't have been alive to experience if I had jumped. Sometimes a little patience goes a long way.

I agree. There's always pro-life but then people are always fighting for pro-choice. If I no longer feel that life offers me any enjoyment or I feel that I've done everything I need to, then why shouldn't I be free to leave?

From my depression I´ve had both suicide thoughts and thoughts about killing other people. I am a nice/kind guy but I have had thoughts about killing people at work, people at supermarkets and other random people.

i was just wondering if you REALLY think that they're are mentaly sound people who commit suicide...? people can sometimes seem fine. all i have to say is that until you have someone that you love kill themselves, don't expect any credit....and obviously if you have an opinion on the subject without having a personal experience people will be upset...

I appreciate your message and what you're trying to say but we have to accept that those who want to commit suicide are not mentally sound to begin with. depression is a mental illness and is clearly a very serious medical condition when thoughts of suicide are entering your head. At the same time I do agree with what you're saying. Sometimes a message of support and even a kick in the butt can go a long way to stop the spiralling nature that would lead to suicide.

One last comment. Your intentions are good, but you're uneducated on the subject. Go read some more on it. Suicide is not cowardly or selfish - it's the disease of depression claiming a life. Like how cancer kills. Some people don't make it through unfortunately. It's awful that suiciders leave loved ones behind, but then so do other life claiming diseases.
And I can't stress enough to everyone else to watch Mom2aj - her response to this will enlighten all as to how depression feels.

depression= not healthy. depression is not the only thing that leads to suicide. people commit suicide when they get caught for crimes to escape judicial punishment.(cowardly in my opinion). some religions justify suicide for the greater good in what they believe.(terrism) some people use suicide as a form of protest like starving themselves for a cause.
I think these were the type of people he was addressing.

I agree with your points. But he goes on about eating crap and having a bad toilet and somehow he equates that to what people must go through to get to contemplating suicide. I've shown this video to people who work in Mental Health in Australia and they are very very annoyed that this pretend preacher thinks he knows all and is just making depression a more misunderstood disease. He should read about it before he opens his mouth. How on earth did this guy get popular? Only in America...

I know 2 people that have commited suicide and BOTH appeared happy to us. One of them was a succesful animator and was doing very well as a musician - touring the world, played on radio & tv, had a great girlfriend etc - then commited suicide. I had no idea he had been suffering from depression for over 5 years. To outsiders his life looked fantastic, but in his mind he was in a personal hell. This video is SO wrong.

A toilet that you can't use properly isn't going to lead to suicide. Your problem with "perfectly healthy people" commiting suicide is wrong - anyone who commits suicide is not healthy - they need help - someone close to them who can help out, listen, guide them to the right medical help and to be there. I feel you're pedalling easy answers from someone who doesn't understand the issue. When you get close to commiting suicide, reasonalbe thoughts (about family etc) don't exist in your mind.

beautiful video frank. I really do love your stuff. u are so right on this subject I think the same way. There are always things worth living for and there is always beauty in the world. Everyone can feels a little bit depressed sometimes, it just happens sometimes. such is life. And psychologist REALLY can help you people out there. I know, I have been there. There is always someone in your direct environment that can help you out. take matters in your own hand and seek help if necessary

okay, i get what you think about suicide and stuff, but there are people who no one will miss, and i'm serious. meds don't do anything, and sending someone to a therapist just makes them feel even more fucked up and hated. when i was in fourth grade, i wanted to die, and no one seemed to get it. i think the only reason i'm still alive 4 years later is because of music and this kid named Micah. unfortulately, i haven't seen him since.

hm. never thought of that. but it would make sense, given the fact that he also went to africa with his dad to help the people there for i think two years, and his family owns maybe six houses and they let homeless people live there, and his dad came to my meeting house a few months ago and did a service on the africa thing.. i wonder what his number is..

i don't know if it had a name... we visited a homeless shelter that i think they owned which was across the street from one of the houses on a feild trip about 3 or 5 years back, but i don't think it had a name.

It might seem good at the time, when everything sucks, but there IS a solution out there somewhere, you just have to find it first, and you can't just give up, no matter how hard it seems to be to find it!

people with the anger-form of depression suiciding. indeed, its imo selfish. BUT. the sad people who have no more reason to live for(no friends, no one who cares), who are hated by prejudices, u think they suicide cause they dont think of other peepz? they suicide BECAUSE they think of other peepz. people around them made them believe bad things are good things. they suicide because they now believe the world is better without them, that no one will miss them.

DS doesn't understand suicide. Nor do most of the people who've left comments. The philosophical arguments for suicide are so profound that it's naive to sum it up by saying it's wrong because it's a selfish act. There is so much more to it than that.

I don't mean to sound selfish or anything.People sometimes feel soo down that the pain out does their ability to cope with it.They need an open ear, someone to listen to them. What may not seem so bad for you, may seem really bad for them. This is just a natrual feeling, may of them want help and to live. What you say to someone when they are in this state is very important.The right words can heal, the wrong ones can condem that person.

Let's hear it for being selfish and the easy way out! Way to try to wrap up an extremely complex problem in a simple minded one size fits all solution, "they're being selfish". As if someone who's suicide would care what you think about them. Stay in the kiddy pool, don't try venturing into the ocean.

And yes depression is a chemical imbalanced that can happen without and trauma or major event change in thier life...but how many tv ads do we see everyday abt getting help...they can..they could...suicide to me is def..selfish and its taking the easy road out..just my 2 cents...l8er!!

The true people who try to commit suicide do not tell anyone that there is a problem. The people who say that they want to kill themselves do not really want to 80-90% of these people are crying for help. In real perspective you still need to listen to them because they are begging for help. But when they stop asking for help and you notice that they are distance you must reach out to them because it is the time they need someone the most to help them.
