there is a guy on yt. that has a old saab 2t. and he says that you cant let it go a steady speed.. you have to get on and off the gas all the time to prevent heat buildup. now i come from 4t motors.. and this sounds odd to me. i would assume that as long as the cooling system is in good working order. that steady state speed would be possible, because the cooling is managing temperature. and heat is only a problem like on track. not in the highway.
@12valvepower1 i know that video. and its nonsense what he says. the freewheel just prevents the coasting mode of the engine, because a 2 stroke engine jerks in coasting mode. You can go a steady speed! On highway and also on racetrack. I suggest, the engineers who designed these engines where not too stupid. We often took part in races on the nordschleife with DKW's. there exists only one accelerator position - full throttle.

Also this reliable engine is very good for tuning...i saw some examples with 3 carbs and developed abput 100+ HP
