At that time Rock Steady had broke up & when there was no more money, movies & no more being accepted by the public, Buck 4 & Kuriaki got involved with drug dealing & they both were shot & killed as the end result.Crazy Leg's was Buck's best friend & that's why he made the Rock Steady Anniversary to keep his legacy alive along with the other members who passed away.
This brings back so many memories. At the end of this Countdown Show they announced a Tour of australia. Went and seen them it was awsome also Doze bombed a Tunnel we have to our main beach hear in newy. Wish I could get hold of those pics.
Memories of 1983.... Was 17 when this song came out , Popped with " THE MEGAZOIDZ DANCE CREW" of MANGERE , STH AUCKLAND 3rd Place 1984 N.Z BREAKDANCE CHALLENGE , The WINNERS won a TRIP to NYC to COMPETE at the CHAMPIONSHIPS there..
I only saw Beat Street this year I've been aware of them since I was 13 im 21 now and I wasn't really sure how big they where I didn't even now babylove was a full member untill i watch beat street totally inspied me to start breaking
That was good times, good times. I have that song in my collection. Back in the day, kicking it old skool with my peeps on the corner with our cardboard sheets. Memories...
i looooooove this song, its cute, i especially like it when the electronic part comes that little electronic melody, after the guys say "there's a new headline, there's a new sensation....." and then the electronic part comes after that. i love the sound of that
baby love pretty much does the same thing all the time she dddid the same thing in beat street.......any way Rocksteady rocks.....good clip but bad quilty wish it was better
kuriaki was spelled without an "y". then there was doze (also a writer), prince ken swift, crazy legs, buck 4 (a turtle-master (like me)) and baby love. i dont think fable and normski belonged to rsc...
dude! i remember in the 80's when break dance came out. its just like a desiese spreading all over the country ppl from asia europe middle east africa and usa are doin that break dancing..and the violence from the gang when down..instead of doin a rumble they do this thing called showdown or battle...
thanx for the post man..that brings back memories!!!
I remember watching the break dancers in the Queen street mall in Brisbane Australia back in 1983 when i was only 8 years old and they would dance to this song and be doing the boogaloo and electric moves crowds of people and lots of us kids would stand around watching them and i would always try and copy the moves and practice at home on a peice of cardboard
out in our street with the other kids with this song playing on my cassette player
Can someone put in the original RSC Hey You music vid again? Viacom claimed the copyright for the old one: idiots in the Greek word sense ... worst thing that can happen that they claim the copyright again ...
ahh yes original rock steady... i grew up watching break on 90th st in colombus... We got Fables.. Ken Swift...Normski...Frosty Freeze...Crazy Legs da whole click... I agree with today's breakers only havin power moves... back then it was footwork...they were always on beat... i like the shit todays breakers do with the elbow spins and shit...but original rock steady is always number one
what happened to these guys you mentioned....why were they not in beat street dancing vc nyc breakers.....also can u shed any light as to how Kuriyaki and Buck 4 passed away (RIP)
i dont know the specifics as to why some werent in beat street.. it was probably jus the casting director.. i know buck 4 was into drugs like frosty freeze... the only ones i really knew perosonally were ken swift ... fables.. normski ...frosty and crazy legs... the others i jus saw dance...
well fables is a cool dude... he was comin out with a chlothing line a few years back... but he dresses wierd to me.. ken swift is da man..my uncle was his protoge... my uncle went by ken swift... normski stopeed breakin once he hit 18... hasnt danced till this day.. i dont like crazy legs.. hes conceited..he thinks he owned rsc...
tnx for dat. i dont know rsc but i agree with u about crazy legs...he seemed to me to be the least talented yet he is the one who promotes rsc heavily and i think he has excluded the originals like ken swift for his own ends.any reason why normski stopped and also what happened to buck 4 and kuriyaki?. any insights into kuriyaki - his bouncing windmill into a backspin in beatstreet is still phenomenal to this day and he pulled it out infront of the cameras for the whole world to see.
yea crazy legs swears he is the sole creator of rsc. crazy legs is from the bx but the majority of rsc was from the upper west side, hense why the goat park on 97th in amsterdam is also known as rsc park. Normski lived across the hall from me on 90th when i was young. I think he just grew out of breakin once he had his kids. He needed to support them. He has a brother named scottie who's a high rank in the zulu nation.
and like i said i think buck 4 started hittin the pipe and i never really knew kuriyaki. i knew who he was but i didnt know him like the others. and personally i think ken swift was the freshest out of rsc... maybe im jus bias ... but if your ever in nyc go to 90th in colombus. gotter riverside.. thats where alot of battles and shows happened.. i was young watchin them all.. but at least i witnessed history.
i read somewhere that 2 other guys created rsc and then crazy legs took over the mantle...one was called jimmy....i only saw ken swift properly in beatstreet and he was okay but kuriyaki in the battle and in other rsc clips just looks top drawer...his moves are always high quality...he looks to be well above everyone else. big shame about him and buck 4 passing away...
that straight up stupid - buck 4 was not hitting the pipe and it is true that him and kuriaki were the best of friends. You should never assume things because you know what they say...
now adays no body really gathers around any more... why dont u waait for the rsc reunion concert in jersey... i live in bk now... i havent seen ken or normski in like 2 or 3 years and i havent seen fables in like 4... I just see them when im around the old neighborhood if there doin a show or sumthin
and by the way only a no brain dickhead like u would talk about girls and fags when we're talking about bboying here...ur such a waste of space...who the fuck do u think u are...ur a nobody thats who u are so go crawl back in the whole where u came from. if u dont like the vid then dont watch it...go and jerk off cause u obviously aint gettin any.
you,re a fuckin wannabe dickhead!. go fuck yourself...i can say what i like..this is an open forum. if it wasnt for RSC....you would not be doing what u call breaking...u probably cant break for shit...i was around when rsc were around in the 80s and they brought it to us. i could still wipe the floor with u now fuckface.
thats's ur opinion....for me nothing beats a windmill into a backspin...u probably cant break to save ur life so dont knock it til u've tried it and RSC were the pioneers who brought breaking to the world....armchair dickheads like u piss me off.
I was just thinking about this clip today. It is the RSC in Australia on a show called Countdown to judge a breakdancing competition (which was pretty laughable compared to the RSC). Shame I taped over that cassette many years ago by accident!
lol i was reading some weak posts here if all you saw was mills and back spins then you have no style look at the foot work knuckle head and this video was old you'll never have the rep these guys have no matter how many powermoves you know show some respect and the bboys of today are amazing i know so im in no way knocking the new school just those who live in the moment and think there hot shit when there a cold fart in the wind...Hahahahaha
