  • I've personally got a western accent, but you do sound as though you could be American! Such an awesome fake accent. Good job. (:

  • Not bad at all :) I wish I could give constructive criticism to help, but that was pretty damn good

  • your accent is great!

  • you sound like an american to me :)

  • i live in Lexington Kentucky. you sound exactly like an American to me.

  • You sound perfect. Litterally, you sound like every other girl I've met.

  • Im American and you sound so much like any other girl here!!

    Your voice is adorable! :)

  • Actually you did a pretty good job, you sound like a normalish person from the Northwest (Seattle, Oregon). We northwesterners have the least embellished accent of any American style compared to California (which is pretty mild honestly), the South, and New York. All in all, good job :)

  • Lolz I like ur american accent.

But dont say "failing at it badly" say "failing at it bad" bkz we americans tend to be pretty lazy with our grammar ahahah xD

  • I live in Arizona and no one here would question your accent either. You sound American to me!

  • Actually, your accent is fairly mid-western, which is a neutral American accent. Every once in awhile your vowels betray you. Remember to flatten your vowels. Bob Hoskins does a very good American accent in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit.:

  • I was born and raised in America, and you are doing a great job.

  • dude you'd fit in just fine....i could hardly tell you weren't american

  • Your American Accent sounded really good!

  • im from America and you did pretty good u should see me do a British accent lol

  • Heyy, Im from USA in Massachusetts and if you spoke like this around me, I could barley tell at all.

  • I have been waiting so long for something like this.

  • From my experience, Brits tend to be better at US accents than US people are at English ones, probably as a result of the sheer amount of exposure we have to US accents in movies and videos and stuff :S

  • If you didnt say anything about trying to have an accent i would have thought you were American.. But im just a stupid American. What do i know.

  • You sound American to me girlfriend :)

  • Why would anyone get offended? Americans love accents. Any kind of accents. Besides Canadian accents.

  • I think you did a great job!!

  • lol love the last part of the vid. but i speak country american so if u wanna talk country jus hit me back if you got facebook they got a thing called tiny chat were you can talk to people across the world ive got friends from the uk, and the netherlands and they talk way diffrent so i can help you they ak me to help them talk country so yeah jus hit me back and ill help as much as i can p.s. love the accent btw.

  • Wow. I have to agree with the other comments I read, your accent is nearly flawless so please don't be so tough on yourself. I was also very impressed with how informed you are about the different accents here. Do other girls in the UK like American accent? I love English girls lol

  • this is actually reallly good. lol

  • Gurl!!! You rock the American accent!!! If I didn't read the tittle I could have sworn ur America lol xD

  • Ahh I love you! You're so cute! Watch all My videos it's about American as you can get-3

  • this is actually pretty good! I would totally buy it if i ever met you! One thing is when you say "accent" you put stress on the last part of the word when we put a little more stress on the first part. And i agree with what someone below me said about dropping off the ends of words. But this was great! :-)

  • If i didn't know you were trying to do an american accent i'd say you were from america

  • i live in the Pacific northwest and your accent would pass without question. but what would give you away is nomenclature. if you call a shopping cart a trolly. or a trunk a boot. you may out yourself. or if you refer to weight in stone. and we have napkins here not crevats etc. also your long A and long O vowels still have the slightest twist of an accent. spot on otherwise =)

  • perfect accent i cant even tell ur british

  • you acccent is better than mine and i am american

  • Lol, you really do sound American. You sure you aren't from America? :D

  • Im from NY and you sound just like anyone else around here

    i

  • I live in Tallahassee, Florida, USA - you sound very american. No one here would question you.

  • She's not British... she's from the valley. j/k

You like totally sound American, like totally.

  • yes you could pass for a american living in the city.

  • You sound as american as it gets!

  • you sound very american! im from the southern states of america so i have a "southern" accent, you should try that! i think that would be funny :D

  • cute and if i didnt know better id think you were from US soo good job

  • Your accent sounds very real :) Everyone here talks differently so we won't notice if you slip up :) But Americans are lazy when they speak so cutting off the last letter of some words will make you sound a little more average. Speaking correctly makes you sound like you care about correct grammar. (Which we should!!) But like I said, your accent sounds real! :)

  • You sound pretty american to me, i'm american and you're doing it better then i've heard anyone else do it. It just really depends on what part of the states you live in, we all sound diffrent:)

  • you say like...and really....every other word....you have the perfect american accent!!

  • You really sound American. Truly, truly.

  • to tell you da truth you really do sound american:)

  • That was incredibly american haha. Nice job!

  • Sounds exactly like an American accent

  • You sound American to me. I try like hell to sound British but I am unsuccessful at it. The only Americans who get offended about "P.C." and crap these days are modern day "American" liberals, and they wouldn't even get offended by your video, so no worries. :-)

(They'll be offended by my comment though. lol But that's what they do.)

  • Yes, you can speak with the american accent very well.

  • Guys she's being ironic--Americans use the word "fail" like baby aspirin.

You're like, totes adorbs Hollie :)

  • @pianogirl2189 "Americans use the word "fail" like baby aspirin." No. Just Americans under the age of 30 do. lol

  • You sound fine, i could barel tell you're english

  • I'm American, from Michigan, and it sounds pretty good to me - there were just a few slips. And if I hadn't known you were British I just would have thought you were from a different state that me.

  • Your accent is really good. I would suggest saying the word "accent" like "ack-scent" and put more emphasis on the the second syllable of the word. If you say it a little more slowly and articulate it more, you can pronounce it better. Hope this helps!

  • Only with some words did you slip but only a little. You're better at it then you give yourself credit for ;]

  • I wonder if other countries have regional accents like America does.

  • @lovificationofmusic Of course they do. England does for sure.

  • keep at it, you'll get the hang of it :)

  • you sound like an american to me!

  • Try a Swedish or Norwegian accent and say you're from Lake Wobegone or Minnesota.

  • im always thinking that everyone else has an accent and i don't because im amaerican ;P but i went to france to visit my anuty for a year and i was an exchange student there and i got a lot of people telling me "oh i like your american accent" and i'd say thank you but in my head im all "i have an accent?" but don't worry your accent was very good. i couldn't tell if you were british or not at first ;p

  • you sound pretty good to me and im from America

  • You could improve by coming to America... particularly around where I live. I could... teach... you. >w>

  • i dont see how you think your american accent is bad it sounds just like alot people i here talking

you shouldn't be so self critical the goal you probably have is more then likely imposible

  • you sound awesome to me! i mean some British sneaks in but other than that i think you have it down! but omg i love the British accent so jealous <3 lots of love

oh from my experience i find that the main difference is British don't pronounce their vowels as harshly as Americans do! of course correct me if I'm wrong =)

  • lmao ,I'm Nigerian and i manage to interchange american and Nigerian accents and i have gotten a hang of it most times i end up sounding British because we learn BrItish english.my friends in school sometimes try to make me do this lol .i just don't bother with with it.

  • we have an accent ? execpet rednecks

  • Hey, you're dropping your t's! :D Sounds like me up in Vermont!

  • pretty darn close. And I'm american. Usually when british people try to do an american accent, they hit the Rs to hard. Ofcourse we hit them harder then other english speaking places, but you all seem to overcompensate.

  • guys thanks for the comments but every 5 minutes i have to read another one :/ slow down..

  • @hyperhollie1 im american and your acent is american i dont believe that ur even british you sound really american

  • I think I do a good "generic", "upper crust" Brit accent (think Roger Moore), and I also do a fairly good (not quite spot-on, perhaps, yet fairly good) "Cockney" Brit accent as well (something like Michael Caine's). But I can't do a Scottish accent, really, at all, and my Irish accent, while not terrible, is not all that good either. My Aussie accent is not too bad, yet not too good, either, as well...unfortunately! lol (My Canadian accent's not too bad either, but not great...)

  • Actually, sweetie, your American accent, albeit a "generic" one, is not too bad! I'm from Texas, and have a fairly standard American accent---not all Texans, for example, sound like LBJ. But, again, darlin', far from being *offended*, I (1) think you do a fairly good job (as long as u maintained it, & didn't slip, no American would be the wiser, probably), and (2) think u're precious-&-adorable (I'm old enough to be ur dad...). Take care, darlin', on ur side of the "Pond" (i.e, the Atlantic).

  • we like the British accents isnt that ironic

  • @crowley4hire Exactly! Or "spot-on", as u Brits would say, or "too right" as the Aussies (and perhaps Brits also) would say.

  • @crowley4hire I love British accents! I want one...

  • thats it, if you spoke like that in america you'd fit right in.

  • @crowley4hire Precisely...as I said in my initial comment, the accent in this vid would blend right in, and few if any would be the wiser... ;-)

  • Pretty good! You've even got the Neo-Val thing going on. (-;

  • A lot of americans talk like this actually, not bad.

  • Im offended your a disgrace to all americans! Your too skinny wtf! Wheres the fucking micky d's and your too thin. Be a true american!

  • I'm American and I can tell you that there *are* Yanks who sound just as you did!

  • to tell the truth your really good at american accents, keep doing what you are doing

  • im from america and yes its true that in some states people do say words differently but were im from it sound pretty good

  • Aww you're such a cutie

  • Sounds good to me.

  • I'm British and moved to America when I was little and had to learn to speak American fast! Anyhow at vowels in the middle of words, pause a bit more is the only comment I can make, you do a good job at remembering to pronounce all your 'R's

  • theres really no issues with your accent

  • that was a pretty good american accent... i know.. cause i live in texas... and no we aren't cowboys! lol we are just like everyone else lol

  • oh and the accent wasnt tht bad just be faster or wat ev so u sound like u know it :P thumns up and subcribe!!!

  • lol i luv to do the english accent ...makes me seem smarter >.> or at least fancy

  • It's actually not too bad of an accent. Americans have various accents so you'd fit in if you worked on it a LITTTTTTTTTLE more.

  • yeah, u failed pretty bad at it. you have to start somewhere easy. numbers are a good one. so start with a group of numbers, something easy and simple to remember. like, maybe, your phone number... ;-) hehe

  • accent you need a sharper A on but I'm from Chicago so thats an opinion, learn was just a little off, love needs a little sharper o, America needs a bit of help, especially was too British, good sounded like goood, not was like naught, overall you did really well. I don't mean to come off as rude, I was just fixing as you went. It was actually pretty good. If you didn't tell someone you aren't an American they might not notice for a few minutes.

  • Pretty good sweety :D Something you might want to try to do to really test it out is to make a different username and post a few videos about whatever using your American accent. See if anyone notices, most likely they won't and as long as you don't label the videos "my American accent" people won't even think that's not how you normally sound.

  • That is really good. You had me fooled.

  • Instead of saying accent like you do, say it more like AXE-cent. Here in America the A's a really exaggerated. Your close! :)

  • pretty good! if you came to America I probably wouldnt notice much at all. I cant quite pin-point your mistakes though. good luck!

  • THATS NOT WHAT WE SOUND LIKE!

  • I think that its pretty good! I agree with @crohnsface

  • it isnt shitty at all. You kind of do that upward inflection thing at the end of your sentences that seems british. Maybe its more a girl thing then a british thing though

  • This isn't a fail. Its acually pretty good

  • I am from California and there is nothing wrong with the way you speak

  • She's so sweet. :'D

We think you do a very good American accent, but just know that almost all of us Americans love the British accent.

  • it is pretty darn good. The worst word was "accent" it needs to be more like ACKKcent. Not aksnt.

  • Accents obviously depend upon one's own ears and the resulting brain interpretation because your American accent sounds as American as any one that I have heard in my many years. Better still, commend yourself and the genes of your parents that you are not burden with the Southern twang that I am cursed. From down yonder.

  • How Dare You!!! try to Speek like US AMERICANS lol jk LOve yeah it sucks big time. its all good tho ur Accent is nicer.

  • thats actually pretty good! im an american, and you natural accent is barley noticable.

  • good.

  • pretty good

  • not bad.

  • it sounds like american to me and im american my name is nicholas and your hot make more videos!

  • First off, you did a good job. Your accent was noticeable but slightly. I realize you are trying to do a perfect accent, but i would say you are perfect right now. It sounds way better with a twinge of your accent behind it. It's funny because I never really thought of Americans as having an accent but I guess we do. As far as advice goes, practice, practice, practice. Otherwise great job.

  • Its not bad! But the thing about British people is they use the "oi" sound a lot, i.e. "like" becomes "loike". For Americans its more like "lahke." That's the main thing, if you change that it will be almost perfect. Also the "a" sound, for British its "aw" for Americans its very broad "a" almost an "eh" sound. Thanks for attempting an American accent. Its funny. lol.

  • @stalinwasright You are fucked up in the head. First of all, what is your occupation? What do you do with your life? I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to be friends with you because you are so ignorant and it seems you respect nobody but yourself. Good luck in hell.

  • sounds good to me

  • Excellent. You sound like someone from California.

  • sounds like your from the west coast we enunciate words here=)

  • You sound American to me, I live in California.

  • Congratulations! You speak perfectly! No other country, with the exception of Canada, can ever do our accent so I am impressed. Lucky English is your language. No one who isn't native can do our accent- even after living in the US 50 years. You are great! I can't even do a New York accent and I'm American. I love doing your English accent. Wish you could judge mine.

  • sounds good to me. most of us probably wouldn't notice.

  • Haha actually the only time you can tell you have an accent is when you say the words "accent" and "badly". Other than that you're really very convincing. I would pinpoint you as somewhere from the midwest rather than either one of the coasts.

  • Whoa, you were actually pretty good. Almost perfect. I don't know why u would consider it shitty; it was actually good!

  • I barely would've known you were British.

  • You're too hard on yourself! You sound American to me, I almost want you to speak in an English accent to prove you aren't just pretending.. I live in California. So you sound pretty Californian if I had to choose a region.

  • Nice accent :D Thanks for having respect and not being prejudice against the world! :)

  • Some of the endings of your words have the british crisp to it. Americans have a more jagged ending in their wording.

    Otherwise, you were near perfect.

I was 3 seconds from posting a comment saying "You sound almost exactly American, when do you start your accent?" and that's when it dawned on me that it was throughout the video.

    Very nice.

  • its acually very good

  • its not bad

  • Not bad, you sound like my friend Nico (american), so your accent is spot on. but say 'really bad' not 'real badly' its a dead give away when you say it the latter way. but great job =)

  • dude i was like is that girl going to talk about her friend trying a british accent or something XDD but then you were like oh yeah im trying my american accent then i was like... wow we're plain lol

  • you sound american bro.

  • ur awesome

  • you sound "normal" to me...

    =D

  • If I didn't know you were british I would think you were american.

  • Its certainly better than my British accent. Good job, and thanks for not hating us.

  • Two thoughts; you are so pretty, I wish I looked like you. (: And actually REALLY good accent.

  • YOUR DOING AN AWESOME JOB AND KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK! THAT IS OF CALIFORNIA-VALLEY GIRL ACCENT, YOU GOT IT!:)

  • I'm an American, and from I can hear, you accent sounds very, West coast, LA, surfer. Its not bad, what region of the us are you trying to copy?

  • Umm, your whole accent in that video sounded perfectly fine. I wouldn't have known you were british if it wasn't in the title. XD <3

  • You sound pretty convincing, just a little nervous.

  • It sounds nearly perfect...

  • You sound American to me.

  • Good job, you sound American - but I honestly wouldn't suggest pursuing it. As an American, I can attest to the fact that I find British and Australian accents far more appealing.

  • @YouToobDouche That's because it sounds different to you. I know a lot of people who do not have an American accent who find American accents fascinating.

  • @DarkBraelyn Sorry - I'm not inclined to believe that. I was born in Portugal, speak seven languages, and have lived all over the world. You're more than entitled to a opinion based solely on preference - but I can attest to the fact that the American accent is rubbish, comparatively speaking, of course/

  • I'm from Connecticut and you sound just like most well educated girls from eastern Ct. No worries, and don't sweat the small stuff. A lot of our ancestors came from the Cambridge area in England,so perhaps that is why.

  • Comment removed

  • hey you don't use enough double negatives and you absolutly don't cus enough

for example i heard this today at work " dante the mother fuckin car don't turn off none when icut the mother fuckin bitch with duh fuckin key" the man said back "thid the mo'fuker click", the lady said "it aint did shit" the man said " "well you better start running to catch the fuckin' bus 'cuz I can't do shit 'til da heating man done with his shit". (The heating man is me)

The manto Me "you done yet .

  • A British person should be able to imitate a Southern accent better than those accents of other American regions because there is no brogue as you may find in New York and other areas of the country.

  • i think this works.

  • Okay well...I'm from Arkansas and we have a country American accent

We say like and um alot and also exuse me and Ma'm soo yeah haha

    Hope it helped alittle!

  • your accent is actually really good,,,, some words were butchered but it was funny :D. mainly the ends of your words you through some of the english accent in it :D

  • @stalinwasright aww what happened to you? some guy slip it in your butt a few too many times when you were in jail?

  • Not bad, actually. As far as I can tell, the big differences between the US and British accents are that we Americans pronounce the "r" at the end of words and do not add them to words that end with vowels. You have that down.

Also, we pronounce the short "a" differently in words such as "talk" and "water". This one is the most noticeable difference between your American accent and a standard American accent.

  • ok now wheres the american accent in this?

  • Lol you actually sound normal in America it doesn't sound much different than some people

  • Comment removed

  • @stalinwasright Lol (you are apparently 64 years old) and watch videos of girls that make you jealous because you can't get someone like her. So you think you are brave and strong so you let all of the anger out, that you get from not having any friends and being a worthless piece of shit, on telling people to commit suicide!?!?!? Rot in hell.

  • You're really not failing.. It's really pretty good! Here I found this guy's videos to be very informative. This one is on the American standard accent, but he has videos on many types of accents. /watch?v=p5T3ubSdhSM

  • @stalinwasright thats terrible dude. The fuck is your problem?

  • East coast :D

  • actually this is good!! :)

  • You're not doing too badly! I'm an American and not at all offended. My primary piece of advice is to watch your Rs and Ts. Really hit 'em pretty hard (you get UK-faint when you say "accent." We'd say AK-sent). Honestly, you could have fooled me into thinking you were American, but had lived in the UK or had British parents. Remember: there are a lot of accents in the US, enough that WE don't know all of them ourselves, so you sound convincingly coastal US to me. Keep at it!

  • well I know that's how I talk XD so yeah (power to PA lol)..... you don't fail that bad.... should her my British accent. it fails worse :P

  • thats a good accent, very north cali, or east coast

  • You sound like an american. West Coast-northerner.

    I'm from Washington.

You sound just like an american but pronounce your R's more sharply

  • I am from california and you sound great!!

  • it actually is really great, only some words u cant improve on

  • Your American accent's much better than you think. If you wouldn't have mentioned anything about accents I'm sure I wouldn't have been listening critically enough to your pronunciation to notice a slight accent on an 'o' when you said "don't". Other than that, you sounded like us West coast Americans and some Americans from some various other states.

  • I'm American. You spoke with a perfect American accent! Thanks for not hating on us like the rest of the world!!!!! Most* of us are not all that bad!

*excluding politicians, racists, homophobes, and ethnocentrists.

    Peace :)

  • @realitytweeter You left out liberals.
