The original straw market burned down Sept 4th 2001. We were there and saw it happen it was a sad day. Some guy was mad at his girlfriend and threw in a Molotov cocktail.

The poor people of Nassau depend on the sales they make on their straw bags and random souvenirs they sell to support their families. There is NO welfare or food stamps in that Country.
