  • "Shreds of Sri Chinmoy"

  • Hahahaha, i even dont know what to say about this. I think those people were waiting for the real artist that was supposed to come and play all those instruments but unfortunately he was sick and couldn't come. And this sweet old man decided to take his place and let the people enjoy. Nobody knew what he was doing but the old man was ok with that and not afraid at all, he knew that nobody would get pissed off and beat him because he was a very peaceful and sweet old man...

  • yea, hes not that great

  • @orlo1000 Its is uncommon for an artist to be "not that great" in his final years. Great was his final segment of this concert in which he played extremely brilliantly AND LOUD!!! Unfortunately it was probably not recorded.

  • People! Buying his music cds is wasting of money. I think everyone can play this instruments like Sri Chinmoy. I don´t say a word against his spiritual teachings but this isn´t anything special to me. Get a fucking flute or drum and you will see you can play it too :)

  • From 8:20 there are extremely interesting sonorities!

  • Chinmoy is half-competent on the flute. Everything else is odious instrument abuse. His name is the source of unending jokes among sitar players. How brainwashed or deluded do you have to be to call this a "peace concert"? There's nothing even peaceful here. His approach of instruments is that of a man beating a child. I can only suppose that there was a typo and that it was actually a "piss concert". I suppose these free shows were a good recruitment tool: if you don't run away, you're ripe...

  • @kaijuchris This concert was probably planned to be the farewell concert in Puerto Rico (hear the singers!). The central musical theme repeated all along is certainly innocent and peaceful. It is if a child had composed the simple song!!

Dont forget musicians dont retire .... they just fade away....and Sri Chinmoy was fading away fast in oct 2005!

    Peace Concert

    Free Concert

    Comfortable Hall

Nicely prepared and elegantly simple and bright center stage!

    What a rare bargain!

  • @kaijuchris If Sri Chinmoy had spent 10 hours per day playing sitar (that is how indian players do there) and played the same kind of music that these artists play (classical indian or something similar) and if he sounded bad than I could easily accept your ungrateful comment. However, first of all he plays peace concerts with a meditative consciousness, which is a completely different thing than playing an instrument just to sound "good" to the ear, putting as much technique as you can.

  • @kaijuchris Secondly, you should do the opposite. Try to pick up some indian or other nationality artist that has done as much as Sri Chinmoy did for the world and for inspiring people to be good. I dare you to show me someone that was nominated for a Nobel Price that lifts heavy weights like he does, and have painted thousands of paintings, written more than 1000 books and the list goes on. Sri Chinmoy music is way ahead of his time - you have to listen with the heart and not with the mind.

  • There is at least one lady in the audience who knew what was going on. 0:40

  • Do not use the excuse that he is getting old and that's why he doesn't sound so great. Ravi Shankar is nearly 90 and he sounds AMAZING. So did Ali Akbar Khan before he passed away. And Beethoven when he was deaf. Chinmoy is a dabbler, nothing more. He should not be performing publicly. He has not the make or wherewithall of a performer.

  • This is self indulgent and lacking skill or talent. The fact that people sat through this crap is beyond me. Listen to Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussain, Alla Rakha, Debashish Bhattacharya, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Ustad Sultan Khan if you want to hear real Indian music.

  • I like this music very much! It harmonizes my mind and I feel very good :) Thank you for the video!

  • Two magical moments

    At 3:45 and at 5:00

The second instance ( 5:00 ) he surprisingly stood up to go to the strange but beautiful instrument

This concert presented us for the first time exotic and ancient musical istruments!!

    -----------

  • Very Elementary Level!!! How love have him been playing???? Six month??????

  • just enjoy what each one of us has to give without the anger in each comment. Don't be ignorant to mislead yourselves from what music can be: just a single vibration. Peace

  • Alleluya !!!

  • Amazing that someone like this was associated with musicians of the stature of John McLaughlin and Carlos Santana... I always assumed he would have had some musical talent.... but no. And yet there he is performing in front of a huge crowd! Odd clip - odd world! Thank you!

  • He was obviously in his declining last years...

He wanted to say for the last time "thanks"

  • I play Bealte songs on sitar. . . and I suck better than this. Come to my channel and have a listen to 'A Hard Day's Night'.

  • he is ridiculous

  • OH NO, this is not Music

  • maybe he really was a laughing Buddha...and is laughing a lot now thinking how easy was all his life go around making people believe he was a musician...

  • Very good comment !!

Another value in these 4 videos of Sri Chinmoy is that in one place you may see and hear strange and very rare instruments. This instrument has a sound similar to the japanese "Koto", Or the Indian "Sitar"

  • And you get to hear sounds never before produced from more well known instruments. Play that funky music, Chinny!

  • Whats the name of the instrument at 5:00???

  • Wow. Der Jimmy Hendrix der indischen Musik LOL

  • this man can not play! You have to be shameless to dare give a 'concert' with his skills. Good he s dead.

  • Buahhhbuahghhhahahahaaaaa buaaaahhhh hahahahahahahahahahaaaaaaaa haaaaaaa huaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!

    Huaahhhh huahhh......... :-) :-) :-)

  • Very nice music! I really enjoy it!

  • @dorkalis and hearing all those rare instruments is a marvelous revelatory experience. A unique, once in a life time concert !!

  • peace,light and bliss...........

  • @mainesux ............... and free of charge!!

  • music goes beyond the mind, into the depth of the soul, and beloved Sir Chinmoy lives in that place

  • He was loved by many great souls and musicians (Moher Teresa, Mandela, Ravi Shankar....) He never claimed to be a great musician. He wanted to go beyond the ego's need to perform & impress. He just wanted to share peace while in meditation. He was the child-like consciousness musician for those willing to let go of their mind & their preconceived ideas and enter in their heart. His was the message of love and oneness. True musical beauty is in the ear of the listener. :)

  • thank you for your comments... you speak the truth

  • Music like life is more than the visible. The outer world proceeds from the inner Reality. Life is Beauty to be felt Now, enjoyed, revealed and shared. If only we can learn the Art of true listening.

Music is not the notes, it's the Silence between them - Mozart

  • "He wanted to go beyond the ego's need to perform & impress" ... he achieved true mastery in this art indeed.

  • first of all he is not musican second he is simple silent man with deep peace he is not capable doing any harm and rumours about sexual relationships ar not true.he lives too inside for that.

  • "...Over the next several years I became aware that there were many women involved with Chinmoy and there were signs that he was also having relations with men..."

  • goats!

  • I think he should stick to the "silent" meditation.

  • Sorry to be a hater, but this guy could teach suck! I'm a very spiritual and caring person but would be pissed at anyone who took me to see this guy. I also used to be in a rock band in college and I could waste this guy !!

  • he nearly went in to Duelling Banjos

  • this guy is insane. he should be put behind bars for insulting great musical instruments!! swamy indeed.

arrrgghhh...stop playing for the good of the world!!

  • I think you would have to have smoked grass to think that he is a musician. The guy is embarassing. How could he fool so many into listening to his drivel. I hope that his meditation teaching is better than his music or all of you guys that follow him are in BAAAAAD shape.

  • And by the way, I am a musician and knwo what I am talkign about. I am a student of the sitar, and what that man is doing to the sitar should be illegal. Shame on the fraud.

  • Tarewai, you've seen "Him" with a capitol H?. He must be God if he deserves a capitol H. Any "guru" that has to peform stunts like lifting elephants and famous people to attract attention is a fake and in love with his own ego. And people like you fall for it. WOW! AMAZING!

  • Go to the next concert! And ask him to lift you!!

Believe it or not, when I was in college one day 4 guys lifted a fat student using just two fingers and a special technique.

So, I dont rule out the possibility of Sri Chinmoy lifting the elephant.

  • This guy is a con artist. He claims to lift elephants with his superhuman powers. Dont be fooled by his gimmicks.

  • Actually I've seen Him in person lifting an elephant along with many other various things and it's not superhuman powers. It's using inner strength, spiritual strength, not physical or "superhuman" powers. He does all these lifts with hundreds of witnesses including newspapers and the official people from the record books etc along with many cameras so it can hardly be said that "He claims" because in fact "He does".

  • And then you woke up.Stop smoking grass.

  • Not such good a player as he is a Guru or Master. Very good effort. Thanks Sri Chimoy

  • You have a good, gentle attitude.

All who attended this concert were satisfied. Interesting, different and out of the ordinary!!

The overall richness of sound was truly amazing.
