A few days ago I discussed exactly this topic with a friend - as I am constantly wondering how popular and omnipresent crime-movies and -books are. And of what interest criminal deeds are to so many people. Not because the preoccupation whit this disturbes me in a "moral" way - I just wonder why crime seems to be so entertaining. Eckharts explanation seems very plausible to me. We deal with things that concern us - and as a collective we are mostly preoccupied whit concerns of ower "painbody".
As long as it entertainment! As long as you can differentiate between what you're seeing on screen and what is real life! Doesn't mean kids would be able to make that distinction, but adults can.
... and this is reflected by entertainment and art as well as in reality.
