a great victory but look at it in context. It was the Germans attempt to regroup and counter attack, hence the "bulge" - a German surge. It was their last attempt to try and push back the allies on the western front. Also notice that 300, 000 German soldiers surrendered to the western allies because they did not want to surrender to the Russians and who they knew were about to take Berlin. To your comment about planes... none of them were American, they were spitfires and hurricanes. You fail. The factories managed to build enough of those TWO planes that even though we were losing planes day and night for a year, we NEVER were in short supply of them. It was only pilots we lacked. Also, we even managed to bounce back and attack German cities, by mistake but call it luck or whatever, it saved the battle.
America contributed food, old destroyers and a crippling loan to ensure its prosperity after the war, and make sure that our economy would take longer to bounce back, giving the US the chance to steam ahead. The real war, the war btw civilisations took place in the east. Russia vs Germany. Yanks and brits seems to forget this fact. I find the Americans very funny when they think they won world war 2! What they really mean is they stood back while the Axis Alliance was taken over most of the world. And that they would only sell Resources and Supplies. When they did arrive in the war the Axis Alliance were certain to be defeated they were been humiliated on both fronts, If anything Russa done most of the work then Britain and then the American Workers! However Japan was winning the war and U.S was vital to there defeat.

You all on here can say what you want, but the fact is the allies were U.S led. Whether it was the boots on the ground, or the ships in the sea, everyone including the Russians had U.S written all over it. You need to look more into the Lend-Lease Act and about the repayment of war debts. Very few countries ever paid us back in full. The U.S was under no obligations to cross the atlantic with our soldiers or our money. More U.S soldiers landed at D-day then any other nation, and that is a fact.

First off the Japanese went all over the Pacific and into China and bayoneted and slaughtered MILLIONS of civilians in their drive for an empire. They needed to be stopped and were unwilling to surrender. The Tokyo fire bombings we did killed more than either atomic bomb did, so I guess that is a war crime too right. The only hand holding that took place was the U.S helping you in Europe and us fighting alone in the Pacific.

Britian fought for 3 years without help and eventually won the battle of britian. eventually it was used as a launch pad for the invasion of normandy. of which half the troops to land were British and Canadian.

Because England was being bombed everyday, they were cut off from supplies so they needed us to send them supplies. We practically fought the Japanese by ourselves (yes the British and Australians were there, but they didn't do the damage we did).

Yeah, they look cool. But they were not very good. That's of course why they were discontinued. Modern helmets are largely based on the German model. The British helmets protect you from above, whereas the German gives better protection from the sides.

America had a lot purely because they built up their arms while the rest of us were fighting the Nazi's. An american general actually said after dday that the reason America could pick up pace in 1944 was because they were not war weary like everyone else and they had lives to lose, whereas the British and French wanted minimal loss of life.

It wasn't until later that they went to war with each other. Europe thought the large majority of the German army and ss. It was only after the defeat of the majority of Europe that Hitler fought the Russians, however there was a lot that contributed to Hitlers defeat and the rise of the Russians

Because in the few years America was int he war, the bulk of the fighting was over and it had moved from west to east. 80% of the fighting happened on the eastern front. The turning point on the Russian front was the ending of the Battle of Stalingrad, after in which you could claim that Russia started working towards air supremecy and 20k tanks heading to Berlin. That battle ended in Feb 1943!!!!!! Your timeline is way off...

a great victory but look at it in context. It was the Germans attempt to regroup and counter attack, hence the "bulge" - a German surge. It was their last attempt to try and push back the allies on the western front. Also notice that 300, 000 German soldiers surrendered to the western allies because they did not want to surrender to the Russians and who they knew were about to take Berlin. ALSO, ever heard of the dessert rats or the SAS? Or the African front? Or the Gurkhas?

I watched an interview once, with a US General from WW2, who said the complete reverse of what you said. He mentioned US frustration at the Brits when they entered the war, because we were so cautious of losing people, whereas the Americans weren't and as a result they moved fast and hard because they were a fresh army - so your comment about Russia and Berlin is void

AND FINALLY, Eisenhower was the supreme allied commander! With Monty second, but use your head! The US was a fresh army with huge numbers and supplies because you had stayed out of the fighting for so long! We and the rest of the allies were war weary and tired after years of fighting! The Americans weren't willing to fight under anyone else and only on their terms, and fair enough if they are going to commit more than everyone else, all be it from years of war having drained everyone else.

So to say, "Now why would that be if the Brits were such a superpower?" Well because of the reasons I just stated obviously! A bit of a no brainer... no? The second world war marked the end of Britain as a super power. The US loan to fight the war while you sat back meant that we had to hand over military positions around the world to you, give you military secrets, almost financially bankrupting us with the repayments.

I mean the war of independance in America is a massive thing, but in the grand scheme of the British empire it is nothing. We didn't commit to it in the slightest, it was thousands of miles away and we were fighting the French who were bent on world domination, who also helped you win. So really, who cares? We were there for taxes, wrongfully, but we were not there to wage or win a war. Unfortunately however, the mad ideals the US was based on that are so outdated now came from that victory

Those ideals were what you call the constitution, which on the whole is a good piece of paper, however some of the fundamental things on it is what makes a lot of Americans ignorant and stupid, such as Guns, the land of the free (it should have been more specific on that), basically lots of shit that was written to stop history repeating itself. To your comment about planes... none of them were American, they were spitfires and hurricanes. You fail. The factories managed to build enough of those TWO planes that even though we were losing planes day and night for a year, we NEVER were in short supply of them. It was only pilots we lacked. Also, we even managed to bounce back and attack German cities, by mistake but call it luck or whatever, it saved the battle.

America contributed food, old destroyers and a crippling loan to ensure its prosperity after the war, and make sure that our economy would take longer to bounce back, giving the US the chance to steam ahead. Not very noble if you ask me, profiting heavily from the misfortune of others? Especially as they are fighting for the rest of the world, pretty much alone.

The fact is, if we Brits had been lesser people, the world would be a very different place now! If we surrendered, where would you have launched an invasion from? The middle of the Atlantic? After the German airforce was defeated, its backbone broken, combined with the Russian winter and the death of 2 million German soldiers, the end was inevitable. America didn't want Europe to become communist, which is why DDay happened when it did. Remember, Russia got to Berlin was before any of us.

The only thing i didn't like about the uniform on the british soldiers was the helmets. The black berets beats any other non-metal hat in world war 2 though!
