  • Nick Gilder's voice has certainly changed over the years. Glad to know that he's still out there rocking. :)

  • i always that nick was a girl

  • @WindBlade97 i always that nick was a girl too

  • god, i still love him. somebody please throw some Frequency tunes up there!

  • The guitarist is not very good. I believe the metal plate in his head is picking up another tune and he's following that. Sad really.

  • @defenmilgov

Joey wowk is an awesome guitarist. You know not of what u speak

  • ahh wish i could get the chance to see them live

  • Yikes... love the song, but that guitarist butchered it. It's a glam rock song... not metal. Sheesh.

  • dude LOL when I heard this song at first, I thought a girl sang it!

  • baddddddd....

  • that guitar playing is soooo bad...sorry dude,,,BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD,...!!!

  • I think that is Joe Wolk on guitar

  • This is so great.....nothing like the original but so cool to hear Nick Gilder singing Roxy Roller after all these years....woo hoo

  • Hey Nick!........Steel Dragon called........they want their guitar player back!!......LOL!

  • this guitar player is such a fuckin' poser douchbag......what a lame guitar tone.....nice hair too, buttercup!!!!

  • Hey Weezie2112(wich was great RUSH album) Im from Vernon and LOVE Slack Alice!....Must admit this version of Roxy kinda blows!

  • Had the pleasure of seeing Sweeny Todd outside concert in Quesnel British Columbia for Billy Barker Days. Nick Gilder high fived me during song Roxy Roller.......cool

  • I play this way better than that crappy guitarist, hey nick hire me man!

  • I don't know why this band is called Sweeney Todd?Weird!Sweeney Todd is an insane barber of London!

  • what a shitty version with that shredding guitarist...KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid.

  • The original was definately a nod to Bolan & T-Rex. Great song, but the 70s "glam" version is better.

  • stupid 80's style version. guitar player ruins the whole song. horible compared to original. sad.

  • DOES ANYONE have the mp3 of nick gilder - runaways in the night cuz i can't find it ANYWHERE and i don't wanna buy it off of itunes lol

  • Glad to see that live it is a heavy version, rather than going mellower than the studio version

  • I played in a band called Slack Alice from the Okanagan Valley in BC Canada with this guitarist Joe Wowk. He was the best guitarist in my career that I ever had the honour of sharing a stage with. My name is Terrance B. Wolfe and I frikin approve this message.

  • Man oh man, have I ever been stoned with these dudes , they are from canada and relocated to the valley in the 1970's for the LA scene, what a great and fun bunch, real good mems, Amestoy Street lol, Hi Jimmy !!

  • Totally the wrong style guitarist for this type of music... knock off the stupid Zakk Wylde squeals already dude !! Watch at 1:44 when he kicks his leg and hits the wrong chord !! C'mon Nick you surely can find a better guitarist than this clown .Get Jimmy back !!

  • ha ha , that's Jimmy mc Colloch ha ha , hes my old drummers from the 70's next door neib lol, ya have any idea how old this is, Zach was a kid

  • That's not Jimmy playing guitar in this clip for certain. Jimmy McCulloch (this is the correct spelling) played guitar left handed while the guy in this video is a righty and definately not as good or tasteful as Jimmy was.. Zack grew up in New Jersey BTW....

  • Totally dude, this guy thinks he's Eddy Van Halen.... but he's really Teddy Van Doofus.... lol

  • I am 50 & I knew these guys, Eddie was a young teenager like myself at the time playing bars in Hollywood and the Valley, this nutty kid Saul, went by Slash, was following him around for tips on playing and Zach Wilde was 10. Jimmy Mc Colloch was breaking ground with pinch harmonics, I have seen Eddie as a kid at his shows, Jim McColloch is one of the greats, the peeps your talikin about him copying lmao, were kids taking lessons from him !! peace man and enjoy it !! they did.

  • LOL At 1:41, I love how the guitar player has to tug his tight pants up on his aging, reliving-his-rockstar-youth ass. It's such a non-rock-god moment.

  • This brings back such fond memories! Thanks so much for posting!!!!!!!!!

  • We think is most funny guitar player we see. He do this as joke we think. No guitar player this bad for real.

  • sounds fucking great to me !!!

  • Nick gilder is totally hot with a capital H!!!!!!

  • the bass player is the only one that really saves this song I was approx 12 in lame midwest when I heard this song on CKY and I needed to rock so bad... hope I find other versions of this eventually

  • that bass player is my dad robaskeith so lay off him

  • I don't robaskeith was saying anything about the bass player. I believe it was the guitar player. lol Down boy...lol

  • This was my favourite song when I was 11.

  • i take guitar lessons from Joey.

  • who did the original? (heagy88).......THIS GUY RIGHT HERE!!! Nick Gilder sang lead for a Vancouver band called Sweeney Todd...Skip Prest played guitar...Budd Marr played drums and (sorry) i dont remember the bass player...the success of this song inflated his ego so he flew the coop to LA to go solo and had a monster hit with Hot Child in the City and Here Comes The Night...oh yeah...he was replaced in Sweeney Todd by some guy called Bryan Adams..a 16 year old dishwasher from North Vancouver

  • Love this song. oooooooooooooooo roxy.......

    5 sparkles.

  • Hey Herringfly, of the two braincells you possess, one is misfiring, and the other is keeping you from shitting on the floor like a cow. You are obviously an out of work guitar player who is jealous of someone who gets to perform in front of someone other than his mama...

  • LMAO, good one.

  • I am a working guitar player.

I have to agree with herringfly. Over the top worry about the way you look instead of your playing crap.

The extra John Sykes harmonic squeals don't work dude...lol I am surprised Nick actually lets his stuff sound like this.

Relax man go back and listen to the tune and learn it right.

  • Maybe you are a working guitar player robaskeith... but working at Arby's doesn't count.

  • Buddy I do more shows in one year then you have in 5 probably. Let me guess you are the guitar player in the video? lol

  • nope.

  • Wow no McDonald's remarks. I am surprised!! Maybe you have seen the light!

  • marktodd - you're upset, I can tell.

So, if you aren't the guitar player in this vid, why get sooo upset over criticism of someone who couldn't hold a tune on a kazoo?

And no, I'm not a guitar player - I'm just someone who has enjoyed listening to everything from classical guitar to heavy metal for 40+ years - and I know a talentless ham when I hear one.

  • Yup. He's shit.

  • deffently should be on guitar hero

  • The guitar hero appears to have bypassed guitar lessons - maybe he thinks it's a tennis racket and he doesn't realise that noise is actually coming from him. Bizarre.

  • Who did the original version of this song

  • It's a Nick Gilder song and there is a nice cover of Suzi Quatro

  • I love this song

  • Freaking Wicked!

  • right on :)

  • I love Sweeney Todd!! for over 30 years now Does any one know how I can get this album or what ever it might be avalable in. I had 3 of them and overplayed them Gone??

  • i believe this song is on his Best Of CD ... might be hard to find at most record stores, i'd suggest checking out the HMV by burrard and robson ... there's a Oh What a Feeling compilation box set of canadian music that would contain roxy roller as well

  • Check out my version of Roxy Roller on Itunes.

    Jimmy Zee

  • hey...I just wanted to know when was this recorded...?

  • this was recorded at the pne in 2005 as i recall

  • they need to to get the music video of this song instead of the live version

  • I agree!! I love this song but I would to hear the real version

  • i dunno if there were music videos of the song back then - i don't remember .... maybe clips from american bandstand or something

  • uh...don't throw in the towel..Nick..just yet!..hire a guitarist that understands how to play a groove, and can play a shuffle...(a la Roxy Roller) I'm available...hehe...and now understand tone, time and LOVE your songs and voice...and I'm Canadian..although living on the East Coast in Fredericton....

  • i don't think they'll throw in the towel any time soon ... every show i been to, they were well received

  • Throw in the towel Nick. This is revolting. The guitar player puts so much camp into what is an already pathetic verson of a classic tune. Nick, you need young & hungry players that understand the vibe. Not a chop masturbating axe god to your right. Bummer.

  • some of u guys feel so strongly against this clip, oh well

  • Boy, what a butchering of this song! The guitar player belongs in some jerk-off guitar-wailing band like Whitesnake.

  • sorry u didn't like it

  • Now,i'm one of your more macho dudes myself,

But I'll always love this song....

    Thanx dude.

  • I was 14 and I saw these guys in Courtney BC, about maybe 3 years ago.... Best time of my life! I got to hang out with my mom get to know her a little more and just have fun... It was awesome,

  • right on

  • thanks for these, storm!

have been a huge Nick fan from the beginning.

  • hey no problem ... i followed him from 1975 on myself.

  • i love it!!!!! i saw you at the deerfoot inn and casino last year!!! love nick that you have a smile on your face from the first song to the last. got a scarf from you lol. especially love the song now that i named my rottie ROXIE!!! always loved the song!! keep up your personallity nick, you rock!!!

  • glad u liked seeing nick

  • u guys dont exist w/o bryan

  • i dunno about that ... nick gilder was a co-founder of sweeney todd and bryan adams only came on after nick and jimmy left the band - bryan wasn't even the first replacement on vocals after nick left. but i'm not going to debate that with you as i like bryan's music too.

  • now if we could "catch 22" and "hold on me tonight" those would be very good esp the 1st one.

    where were these vids made/

  • i've seen nick and sweeney todd perform a few times but i have not heard them play either of those 2 songs live unfortunately. these would have been at the PNE and at the ACT in Maple Ridge.

  • ohhhhhhhhh my. take me back to 1975 with cklw, am transistors, afx cars and kick ass canadian rock. nick, bto, burton, gord, terry jacks and all my old 6 grade boyz and now&laters, artic orange shakes,Conrad Patrick & Brother Bill Gable. ohhhh, that feels good.

  • yeah baby ... glad it takes u back - these guys were my fave (along with Heart) back then

  • It was #1 in Ottawa too back when I was in high school. Gotta love that bubblegum rock!

  • classic rock rules

  • cool canadian heritage.. I was in grade 4 when this came out and it was a big hit in little vancouver!

Go Nick!! Sing me :Here comes the night! wooooo hooooo

  • 1975 i think, great song - my fave for a long time.
