What a fantastic song! I downloaded the audio to it a couple of years ago when I was doing research on digital pianos (and ended up getting the CP300, which I love), and I love it every time I hear it.
@mth32871 ...you are too kind my friend. Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to some of my music :) I wish I would have been able to do a direct line in recording of this. I may redo it with the p155 for a better quality recording..
Yes, that CP300 is HEAVY! To save money...always go for the P250. Same keyboard as the CP300...same sound. Currently I play a P155. It actually has a slightly better sound quality than the CP300 when you record or run it through a quality system. But the built in speakers are not good at all, no bass.
I own a Yamaha P-150, the same as the Yamaha P-200, as the speaker grill design is the only thing different between the 150 and 200 versions. I would love to get a P-300, but it must weigh as much as my P-150 and cost more than I could afford.
Hello, yes they are the best built in speakers I have ever heard on digital piano or keyboard! This sounds a lot better in person...my camcorder mic was also picking up the sound which is never good.
although when one considers the price etc this trumps the competition, I prefer the Nord Electro 3 but there's that much of a price difference it's not really a good comparison. Yamaha did a fantastic job with the CP300. Great playing btw :)
Oddly enough....but,even according to industry experts, the CP is unable to match the brilliance of the CP300, unsurpassed in the genre Blues-Jazz-Progressive 70.
Considering the high quality keyboard CP300, few people will switch to CP1, perhaps some of the amateur Yamaha Digital Stage Pianos.
AMAZING!!! OMG!! AMAZING!!! U have to make a tutorial really! whao! that was AMZING!! whao! I really want to learn that song so please make a tutorial like u played. Whao!
This piano uses three samples per keygroup - velocity switched. The proper way to program a three way velocity split is to use the 'quiet' and 'loud' samples at the VERY extreme ends of the velocity range only and rely on proper and subtle use of filter and amplitude sensitivity with the 'middle' velocity samples to do most of the work. Just SO many electric pianos with great samples are made difficult to play by inept programming. Grrr!
I've played this piano at length and do like its sound. However it suffers from level mismatching between the samples, particulary on the lower notes. You can really hear the level jump up quite drastically when only SLIGHTLY increasing velocity. When will programmers realise that this adjustment cannot be properly done by listening to the piano in isolation but only by playing along with other stuff and seeing how it 'sits'. (continued...)
I remember iwas choosing between the ydp 160 and this piano. This one has more voices and i think it has sympathetic resonance while the ydp doesnt. At the end i got the ydp and im not sure why. Does this have integrated speakers?
@lukadael : I tried one a couple years ago and I loved the sound. I said one day I would buy this piano. Well, it looks like that day has finally arrived.
I played a CP300 two days ago. You're right, they are very good indeed. I bought a KORG SV1 at the same time but could have been tempted by the CP300 (didn't know the price and besides, it's totally different to the SV1). The sound of the CP300 piano is probably the best I've heard, but the other voices aren't.
Thats and excellent sounding piano. I wanted to buy the best sounding digital piano with weighted keys but only have $500 to spend. What would you recommend? I have never played the piano but always like to get the best for my money so I wouldnt want to get a cheap one then find out I like playing and have to resell it to get a better one. Thanks for your opinion.
does the cp 300 sound like an S90es..... I had one.. and just bought the S70xs and dont like the lower registers of the new piano..... the ES was way better.. why would they do this?
claviona is a bit more compressed...... aimed at HOME players.... dont see many claviinovas on stages with bands..... heavy bulky..... very playable tho
if this is the best keyboard you have ever heard then you should definitely check out yamaha's clavinova line if you haven't already.they are phenominal
Roland beats Yamaha. If you hit a note with some velocity only 3 mm down, on a real piano, you will hear a loud sound. Try to hit the keyboard on a Yamaha digital piano down for only 3 mm: and you will hear nothing because yamaha ONLY triggers if the key reaches ALL the way down. So on a real piano: everytime you hit a note fot only 2/3/4 mm, you WILL hear the note: but NOT on a YAMAHA digital piano. TRY Roland: they do it the right way... Just try out this experiment, you'll see.
The CP300 doesn't come with the music stand., but there is a music stand for it. I'd suggest calling ZZsounds or Musician's Friend. They can help you. I've seen the music racks, just don't remember where.
The Roland RD700GX is def. NOT better than the YAMAHA! YAHAMA makes the best piano samples so far! Every serious artist / studio use the CP300 :-)
Roland keyboards plays cheapy, weak, bouncing... and the piano samples they use sound crap.. When I played the RD700GX I was in shock!... Is this a piano sample???? Terrible!

@feewert42 nope. trust me i played on both pianos and p85-90 doesn't even come close to this. CP300 has 128 note polyphonic and the p85 has only 64.

Indeed the sound of this video does not honour the real sound of this yamaha CP300.
I bought it yesterday! Very happy with it. Not just the sound but also the feeling when you play. The keys are great!
And indeed the other sounds are not the best, but the performance mode wich mixes till four sounds is just incredible.
I placed it today in my musicroom where my students came playing it.
They couldnt stop playing, just like me of course...
NIce improvisation played here. Thanx for sharing!

If you're only willing to drop about $500 and you're looking for weighted keys, I suggest the M-Audio ProKeys88.
