Even at 90% idunno man.... when i got my 95 5.2 4x4 before doing anything to it I got almost 8 seconds flat!! I'm still waiting on a performance ECU....not sure how much a performance ignition module will do.
@trueblue0133 Drain the fluid (obviously for weight reasons) the quadra-trac t-case (np249) coming out of your jeep is about 70 - 80 lbs I recommend a second set of hands when lowering it. The selec-trac (np242) is only about 40 - 50lbs. Other than that it went in relatively easy. Make sure you're shift linkage isn't rusty or stuck mine was and theres a little pin that sticks into a small slot to hold it steady under the truck make sure it did't popped out. Mine did Grab WD-40 you might need it
@trueblue0133 Also, use the speed sensor from your quadra trac t-case not the selec-trac (yours should be orange, use it, not the green one that comes out of the 242). Take the speed sensor out of your t-case before you lower it from the Jeep so it doesn't get damaged on the way out. When you're all done, take out the VIC (screen under the a/c controls). you'll see a set of two small red plugs. Unplug them and find the set of two small black plugs and plug them into each other. (black to black)
@trueblue0133 Switching the plugs tells the VIC that you have the selec trac transfer case and will display the 2 rear wheels lit when in 2wd, 4 wheels lit with PART-TIME in Yellow when in part-time, 4 wheels with FULL-TIME displayed in Green when in 4 full-time, no wheels with Neutral, and 4 wheels and LO in Yellow when in 4LO
@moneyhungry8604 My 1999 Cherokee XJ Classic has bored throttle body to 62 mm with TBS, AEM Cai, Cat delete, FM 40, and 2 1/2 inch piping after muffler(was 2 1/4)... 0-60 in 7.9-8.1 according to Vbox. Want to race ? :D
@trueblue0133 No problem always happy to help a fellow Jeep owner! I have a shop with air tools, lifts, and some help, and it only took us a an hour and a half (90 mins). Keep in mind that my Jeep here was our first ever swap. Now it takes us only 1 hour.
How hard was it to do the swap an what was your fuel milage to a tank before the swap cause right now I'm only getting about 160 to a full tank if gas
@trueblue0133 That's all I got before the swap about 170 miles out of a full tank. Now, on my best tank I made 512 miles out of a tank (that was driving like a granny, cruise control set to 58, 59 mph [speed limit is 55mph here in NY], and 5% city driving 95% highway. I averaged [according to the computer] about 22 mpg). On an average day (to work and college) I drive about 25 - 35 miles a day (80% city + 20% hwy) I average about 16 - 18 mpg
Sure! there's more for it than the V8 (from what I've found). They make power programmers (hand held tuners [Superchips, SCT, etc...]) intake manifolds of course flowmaster has mufflers. I've seen cat-back exhausts. Keep searching! Love that I6 I wish they were still made. Here's a power programmer superchips/Store/JeepFlashpaq.aspx
also your idle seems a tad low, according to the rpm gauge your sitting at like 250rpm idle.. It should be closer to 500-700.
Nice Jeep tho, i see your K&N airhat is the first Gen. I found my first Gen like yours in a junkyard and got it for $20 hah... lucky me. Altho the hole where the bolt mounts was broken (typical design flaw in them) but i managed to mount it through the same hole but just using a big washer to hold it down
@1ownjoo2 the sending unit's new. the reason it's so low is because it burns oil, which creates sludge in the oil pan and valve covers, which gets stuck in the oil pump stopping flow. My brother, who owned the truck before me, was stuck in traffic on Verrazano Bridge when the oil pump got clogged dropping the oil pressure to 0. He had to drive with 0 psi because he can't pull over on the bridge this roasted the bearing which hold pressure so now it's always reading 20 psi. Need to rebuild 1 day!
Something aint right 0-60 in 9 seconds ? I thought the 5,2's were faster then that ? Altho i do remember reading that the 5.9's were 6.8 and the 5.2 was somewhere around 8.5 or so.
MM i dunno something doesnt seem right to me. Your oil pressure is also pretty low, for WOT it should be moving up above 30psi, but it seems to stay 28-30psi idle or WOT... either the engine is showing its age, or your sending unit is bad.
On my 5.9 i have 30psi idle, and wot it goes to like 40-45
@1ownjoo2 It is quicker than this... the text right after says the data logger i used showed the Throttle position at only 90% so I guess my foot wasn't down all the way. That's why first gear it only went to 4250 RPM. It's supposed to be around 4800 floored in first gear... I need to retake that shot I didn't there because there were cops all over the area after I left and checked the data
The 5.9's shift around 4500 rpm actually, if you want it to shift closer to 5k rpm you need to change the tv cable to hold the gears . Also the TPS might not be getting enough voltage, you need to replace it. your problem is because your burning oil most likely. If your rings are bad in the cylinders or your plenum gasket is bad causing you to tburn oil your performance will suffer greatly. That and foul ur 02 sensors and clog your cat converter.. Also replace the IAC
@1ownjoo2 the IAC's fine I lowered the idle myself (I just like it low). Thanks for the tips on the other stuff. I know the throttle was mostly my fault because at the end of second gear it shifts higher than first because halfway through second I put more pressure on my foot and the pedal went farther down. i have really thick floor mats like the one seen in the trunk, so I think that held the pedal from going all the way down.
Even at 90% idunno man.... when i got my 95 5.2 4x4 before doing anything to it I got almost 8 seconds flat!! I'm still waiting on a performance ECU....not sure how much a performance ignition module will do.
