I had this game but no matter what I could never get more than one of the characters on the team to gain experience. I thought it was a bug at the time.
I couldn't remember the game's name so I've been searching for a few hours. Glad to see, after finding it, that you provided the game play.
@SimmeringPotpourri Heck getting experience points is easy. Before going into harder parts of the game. I would beat the crap out of the snow tigers for bit and head for the gym after words. By the time I encountered the greens dragons and the raiders. Lets just say they didn't last very long.
@biglos9d Its a little hard to explain how to get to it. But there is a YouTube user who goes by the name of AmethystLunitari. I notice she doing the full game play of Sentinel Worlds 1. In her 17th video she shows off the location of that area. Although you might want to start at video 13, if you're not familiar with the ice planet.
_____Heh, now everybody knows where MASS EFFECT came from. Think about it for just a minute... A band of space-explorers, hoppin' from planet to planet to deal with the Collectors...uh, RAIDERS. Then they ride around in a vehicle that looks suspiciously like the MAKO. Is this sounding familiar yet? Oh yeah, and Electronic Arts made this AND Mass Effect.
Awesome indeed!!! My first PC game ever as well. Such an amazing game! Radio Shack wiped the disk on me. I was one crushed 10-year-old. Thanks for the video!
With the nostalgia bonus it's still quite a fun experience to play, and it's awesome what they did with the lame PC speaker. :) I might still have a version that works in DosBox if someone wants to play it and can't find it on the net.
Oo, nostalgia. Thanks for uploading the vid! This used to be one of the first games I played on my parents' 286. I don't understand how, but I got quite far in the game and had loads and loads of fun even though I understood hardly any English at the time. Plus I didn't have the booklet or whatever that contained most of the long texts in the game. (Remember when sometimes in the game there was just a note saying something like "read paragraph 15"?)
One of the best games ever made. I played the hell out of this back in the day though, admittedly, I just sat here for an hour trying desperately to remember the name :P
The emulator is set a little faster than the game was meant to be played, but otherwise a great compilation video of an all time favorite game of mine.
I always wanted a sequel. Sadly, by the time I heard of Hard Nova, it was pretty hard to enjoy.
Thanks for the heads up. I have downloaded the manual. The problem is just getting the game to work. I am unlikely to play it till the end though, since I have already completed the game close to 20 years back. It's amazing how games have progressed since then.
@roguetrader8888 if you live in the uk then type back and i can help you but if you dont then sorry i cant. i just don't know how foreign desktops work
It might be a while before I get to Hard Nova. That will take some dedication and time when I make that video. With Hard Nova I would rather show off the true nature of the game. Instead of quick video about it.
@biglos9d Nice to see you are taking the time to put it up on YouTube. But Hard Nova is one of those games I won't be doing. One of my five inch floppies is corrupted, and I forgot all about it until now.
Nice video - suggestion, try playing it in Tandy Graphics mode with Tandy 3-voice sound in dosbox. You'll be pleasantly suprised with the superior sound.
I played it years ago when it first came out on my Tandy 1000 TX - awesome sci fi rpg, one of the best easy. I wish they would have made a true sequel.
You might want to try various versions of Dosbox - all you need to do is turn on tandy mode in the cfg file - enable tandy graphics. Sentinel Worlds based its music off of what your graphics mode was - I actually hacked it many years ago when I upgraded from TGA to VGA and hacked EGA mode to use Tandy 3-voice sound. It really is that much better.
I had some pretty good memories playing this game all over again. Also some pretty bad headaches just running around the Raider stronghold. I'm glade I wrote down the location of the Book and Malcolm Trandle all those years ago. That whole place is a nightmare.

I got this for my Commodore 64 instead of PC as it has 16 colours and 4 channel SID sound, meaning it beats the PC version hands down! :)

I have this still boxed, manual and everything, like you, but on my C64. Sid 4 channels rather than beeps!

Download a copy off the web but once I run it on dosbox it would say please insert game disk. Where can I download a working copy? Thanks.

I hope your download came with the story manual. Because without it you won't get very far.

awesome game... though I didn't have a book so when characters started answering me with "paragraph 42" and such, I couldn't get any further :(

@TigerRaptorFX Since you haven't got to Hard Nova yet, I'm current LP'ing that game if you want to check it out. I'm about halfway through.
