How are you recording that guitar? Any pickup? What mic? If that's straight into the camera mic, that's either one hell of a camera mic, one hell of a guitar, or both!
@zzmook Heyzz, no I'm going straight into a digital camera. It's a Kodak DX7630. It seems to have an exceptional mic in it. The guitar is stellar too....lol. Thanks for listening and taking the time to leave a comment.
@Martin00028Guitar Hey DL, First off, thanks for the kind words and taking the time to listen. I also appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment too. That is a pretty special guitar, it has a very unique tone. I have to say, I never cared for Dust in the Wind until I started playing it. Now I really like it.
@jmstern22 JMS, I play a martin 00028 (hence my youtube name) a nd have enjoyed it since l974. It is a l969 00028.
I'm adding a new 12-string Martin to my grouping, and want the black-edition 6-string Taylor I played last week,,, one luxury at a time, you know,,,?lol....Love your style of playing. You play for enjoyment and the pure sound only an acoustic can give you back. Keep up the good work. Stay in touch.
@TheCountrygit I guess I should be doing some more videos with this guitar. It just seems to get tons of comments (and I just noticed that it is my most watched video...news to me). There's no question that it is a very cool little guitar and it defintely has it's own sound and vibe. Thanks for the comment and taking the time to listen.
@raquel1234ful Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate the compliment. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and leave a comment.
@Trapar137 Thanks for taking the time to listen. I really enjoy listening to each of the guitars and their different voices. I'll let you know if I ever decide to let the D-18V go. I don't use it as much as I used to, but it is a really cool and fun guitar. I remember thinking when I found it in a guitar store in Denver, "This one has something special."
@seminole224 Thanks so much for the kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment. Sorry to take so long posting a reply but it has been a very busy spring and early summer. I am really starting to enjoy OM's more and more. Tone-wise they really do have some cool and unique qualities. I have to say I am really having fun with this Collings OM-1 I picked up last year, that is a really fun guitar. Thanks again for listening.
thanks for posting this. I played a D18v the other day and it's definitely the best acoustic I've ever played. I can't wait to get me one. I'm gonna start asking santa claus early. thanks again and awesome job on this song too
@joshporter08 Hey Josh. Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and leave a comment. D-18V's are pretty cool guitars. I will say the Adirondack topped guitars are cool too, but I really love the mellow fullness that you can get with Sitka. It is really a unique sound. Good luck, I think Santa Claus always takes guitars into special consideration...lol.
@bundesphotograph Sorry for taking so long to reply, I have been a bit swamped the last couple of weeks. Thanks for the kind words and good luck on your purchase. I owned a D-18VS for about 3 or 4 months and I could never bond with that guitar. They are exceptionally cool, they have tone for days and they have a really neat vibe to them, but I could never get into the one I purchased. I sold it to a buddy of mine and it is one of his favorite guitars.
Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to leave a comment. All I can add is that mahogany is a great tone wood. At this point I have about my collection of guitars is 90% mahogany. Now the tough part is waiting for the guitar to show up. I'm sure you'll like it, just remember that they sound the worst with brand new strings. The real tone won't come out until the strings lose some of their shine (very different than how a rosewood guitar works).
Wow, thanks so much for the kind words and taking the time to listen and comment. I really appreciate it and I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Thanks again.
Thanks for taking a listen and leaving a comment. I have to say the D-18V is one of the coolest guitars out there at the moment. The GE's are louder and have more punch, but the D-18V's are sweeter. Did I mention that their sunbursts are gorgeous too? Post a version when you get it done. There can't be too many D-18V's on youtube...lol.
Thanks so much for the kind words and taking the time to listen. I really appreciate it. Martin's vintage styled D-18's are pretty hard to beat. I can't say enough good things about them. Thanks again.
Thanks for the kind words and for making me "international". lol. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen. Very cool. I would have to say that I prefer the D-18GE, but I love playing that D-18V too. The GE is a bit more versatile and louder. The D-18V is quieter, but has a very unique tone. Sorry to take so long getting back to you. Enjoy.
Thanks so much for the comment and taking the time to listen. My apologies for taking so long to respond, but the holidays are always busy. Thanks again and I really appreciate the rating.
Thank you very much for the kind words. I am very biased, but you can't go wrong with a D-18. They are exceptional instruments. I hope it helped you in making your decision.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and leave a comment. That D-18V is one of my favorite guitars to play. I found it used in a local guitar shop about 3 years ago. It's a really fun guitar.
Thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. I saw that Elderly had one of those '92 D-18V's. I had heard it was a pretty small run. Yours and mine account for almost 1% of the entire run. They are really special, and I think they sound quite a bit different than the modern D-18V's. Very cool to know that it's sound is close to a '45 D-18.
Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. That goofy little D-18V is one of my all time favorite guitars. I bought it used a couple years ago and I use it a lot.
I posted a video response featuring my Simon & Patrick acoustic with a B-Band pick-up....of course there's a lot of reverb on the recording but these are also great guitars to play and record well...still nothing beats the sound of a Martin...though I think they are a bitch to play....and also, you played that song beautifully..:-)
I didn't see the response on here, you may need to try it again. Martins are fun and you definitely have to work on getting them set up as they send them out with an incredibly high action. They are fun guitars though, I like 'em a lot. Thanks for the comment.
I think I can pick up on your description of the D-18GE compared to the D-18A. Geez... I like them both! Seems like you get a little better sustain from the GE but maybe that's because it has opened up some over the D-18A... and the GE does sound a bit warmer. Martin should hire you to A/B their guitar lines! Is this what this is really all about?! J/K! Hey good gig if you can get it... and you're definitely worthy!
Hey Kurt. Thanks for listening and the kind words. Yeah, that would definitely be a dream gig, but I guess they are too busy making great guitars. I decided I was keeping both the A and the GE as they really do have different sounds and vibes. I think the 12 years of constant playing does give the GE a bit of an edge, but we'll see how the Authentic does as it catches up. Best of luck looking for a cool GE.
Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate you taking the time to comment. As for the choice between an M-36 and a D-18V, I would opt for the D-18V because it is (in my mind at least) a more versatile instrument. However, if you are just doing fingerstyle stuff and light/medium strumming the M-36 would be great, but it wouldn't do well at a bluegrass jam. The D-18V will be a guitar that can do a number of diferent things, while the M-36 is more specialized.
Thanks so much for the advice. It sounds like the D-18V is the way for me to go. I play alot of open tunings ala Joni Mitchell and loved the sound on that guitar. Please keep posting-love to hear more!
I have an M38 (one of the first) and have played it at bluegrass festivals and it definately holds it's own. The overall balance of the tone cuts through even if it does lack the deep throaty bass of a dreadnought. I also have an HD28 if I want that bass that only a dreadnought gives you. I sold a 1964 D18 many years ago which I had from virtually new. I still miss that beast. The D18v sounds just as good as mine did.
I owned an MC-28 in the late 80's and early 90's. Martin's M-series of instruments is pretty cool. I tend to favor their Vintage/Golden Era/Authentic series these days, but the bottom line is they are making some pretty cool stuff these days.
Definitely the best version I've heard. You play it at the perfect speed. Everyone else is too fast(many mistakes) or too slow(put us to sleep). 5 stars for you. Keep us entertained with more of your great playing!
Solid rhythm,very fluid,great job bro!

Did you ever play a D-18vs? I'm looking for a John Fahey-like sound and use the open c tuning a lot.
