Kiss the Weiner/Sanders ticket goodbye, people! "Do as I say, not as I do" Weiner has been exposed . . . or rather, he has exposed himself. Now he's a laughingstock. Ha ha ha ha What a complete dunce!
I just have to laugh at Kingston for making the jab at Weiner because of cutting Medicare money. They cut medicare money so that EVERYONE IN THE COUNTRY could get healthcare. They cut medicare money so that children who are eight years old and have leukemia, can live to see another day even though their insurance company has kicked them off because of being too high of a risk. They cut medicare money so that things like that couldn't be legal. I'm sorry, Kingston, but your argument is invalid.
Republicans have historically stood for Darwinian capitalism and all the disastrous consequences that it entails. My grandfather lived through the Great Depression and the New Deal, and he used to tell me stories of how republicans systematically stood against FDR and everything he did to get the economy going again. If they had succeeded back then we wouldn't have SS or any of the other socially advanced safeguards against poverty and destitution that we have today. Republicans hate America.
The ONLY way to bring jobs back to America is to lower the minimum wage to $2/hr.
This is the only way we can compete with China. Paul Ryan and my fellow republicans need to act on this now. Employers also should not have to carry the burdern of paying for health care either. Go get em Paul!
to answer Lawrence's question about profits: in a competitive market (which the status quo is not), profits in the long run are always ZERO. companies only break even because competition drives prices down to the point where all firms only break even. this is an economic fact. the big problem is, our market for health care isn't competitive enough, not by a long shot.
his other question about the 70 year window: because the Democrats' plan doesn't reduce the deficit over ANY window!
@Melpheos1er Thats because you dont actually have a free market in health care, what you do have is government regulated monopolies and if they were to be deregulated the monopolies could then be disassembled through market competition
That jerk just wouldn't allow Weiner to speak. He took all the time in the world, but within 30 seconds of Weiner's response, he broke in. If nothing else, this Republican person is rude in the extreme. Championing the transformation of Medicare to vouchers that people can use to buy insurance coverage from private entitites? Right!
The one thing that seems to be lost in all these arguments regarding Medicare is that it's NOT Medicaid. People receiving pitiful amounts in SSI are paying....
This guy I think is just looking to play the good guy. Living in this world, I've learned, there are so many assholes with pretty faces and southern drawls who will turn around and fuck you over that no matter how many times this guy brings up peace between parties, that you just can't trust people who use words like "transforming it into a voucher program" to cover up what they really mean. A classic case of doublespeak.
This Mr. Kingston is an idiot. Market forces are what have caused prices to explode. Europe has governmental healthcare and pay half of what America pays and on the 16 baseline items for what is considered by OEDC to be signs of good healthcare America is outclassed by all other OEDC's. This Ryan Plan isn't a plan about budget tightening it is about putting more power and wealth into the hands of those that already receive the greatest benefit from our government and our society.
@ImpactChocobo Kingston also admitted that the insurance companies will have no regulation, because there would be enough 'competition' to self regulate. I am so tired of hearing them spew the self-regulating BS. It doesn't work. Ask anyone that has lost a house or a job since all of these financial entities were deregulated.
What is fool talking about? The only thing the private market is good for doing is producing profit in the hands of private individuals. Social security is a public/group program: you won't find ANYONE who would somehow treat their interests LESS than those of the group/program. That's a fact! They'll lie, cheat, steal, because that's what the market encourages without proper regulation. You give me a system that rewards the manager of a private social security and i'll show you a fantasy world.
If you don't have at least a 6-figure income, or at least 2 commas in your net worth, the Republicans will treat you like grist for the corporate mill...
@ 3:30 this asshat referred to Obama as "his President." WTF? I thought Obama was America's President, not the Democrat's or Mr. Weiner's President. What a piece of shit. Why is it that I see Republicans as smarmy slimy people? It's like this country is being run by genetic defects! Something tells me that the GOP are socially awkward, and have trouble having personal relationships. That might be why they hate women so much.
I'm not american, but I am an economist.. How many insurance companies do you have covering like 90% of Americans? was it 3 or 4? That in economics is called an oligopoly and they certainly are not, NOT competitive, hence the US ridiculous private insurance premiums vs European private health coverage even in countries with national health insurance.
Mr Kingston, I know you're eager to "trust the market", but don't you have any memory? Remember that very same free market economy that imploded after years of Republican deregulation? So now we're supposed to end Medicare -- extremely lean and effective Medicare with less than 2% overhead -- for some greedy multinational (ie, non-tax paying) insurance company that seniors will have to try to wheedle benefits out of like choosing the least worst cell phone plan?
It's not really sparring when Weiner so over-classes poor Kingston. It's like bear swatting a fly. A slow, rhetoric-parroting fly who's too craven and cowardly to admit that he's looking to end Medicare.
Obama was for extending the tax cuts to try and 'reach across the aisle' to Boehner and Co... now that they've shown they were still the same old Republicants, Obama is going to withdraw all support for any tax cuts or any demands from this congress.
@Relbl He should if he wants to get elected. Also, he extended them because of stupid independents. Independents are fucking idiots. Independents (Dumb) and Republicans (Dumber).
@Stingerbillion Agreed. Independents don't have the balls to say what they think; they wait til a poll tells them what to think. That's not leading, that's not managing, it's just cowardly and shameful from elected officials. Once a debate is on, do research of facts and make a decision then defend that decision. Officials that govern by poll should be voted out before any Republican or Democrat (but not Tea Party nut-job).
@Relbl I agree. I am totally like that. I like to listen to debate between the 2 parties and do my own research. People who listen to one side and make up mind are clearly stupid.
Hmm... I see many comments about Sanders. Weiner I'm very familiar with and wholeheartedly support... time I look up who this Sanders character is. :)
Oh, and to his credit Kingston was pretty respectful here... more than most Republicans I see on TV being challenged in an issue. There's hope he can be reasoned/negotiated with at least.
Who are these people at the top 1% of the United States whom the GOP work exclusively for? If your portfolio doesn't fit within video listed below, your voting against your own best interest!
Whats it going to take to wake all the teabaggers up? Playing these admissions on a loop 24 hours a day? Having their social security programs yanked rather suddenly and violently? I cannot believe that there are THAT many ignorant bobble-headed simpletons in this nation that would actually believe the utter GARBAGE that this teabagger/corporate scum representative from Georgia (notice the PEOPLE are exempt from that) would spew forth.
@MikeandSara88 Weiner/Sanders or Sander/Weiner... either would be a ticket I could get behind. I wish more people in our government had balls like those two gentlemen.
@MikeandSara88 Weiner/Gore 2016... Sanders should jump into Senate leadership; Harry Reid is a little too out of touch to remain as a top 5 American official
