Jim's dead, he was the biggest musician that had ever lived on Earth, but he's gone, and The Doors aren't the same without him. So why stop there, instead of making something more. I'm a big fan of both Skrillex and The Doors, and in my opinion, this is a great way to introduce The Doors to the modern music, cause we all know that today's youth is listening to crappy music.
For everyone hating on Skrillex and who think that what he does is easy, I would love to see you try and make electronic music like him. Buy Ableton and then tell me what he does is easy.
If you're going to be knocking either of the artists why bother listening to it, dubstep has its own musical personality just like every other genre. Personally I love it, along with all other types of music. It has a strong beat and depending on the artist it has a great sound to go with the beat. So just sit back and enjoy the beat and the tones of dubstep, and if you don't like it, don't listen to it. Let us who like it listen to it, listen to it in peace.

I like both artist. But it was a bit strange when I firstly read the rock legends working with a "dubstep" artist. Classic rock + dubstep. It sounded stranger, but the result is good.

funny lots of comments debating what is a musician. especially saying that what Skrillex does is not hard. if its not, then please, go do it. Personally i had no problem with this collaboration seeing im a fan of the Doors and of Skrillex. John explains a little bit about his apprehension working with Skrillex and electronic sounds but i think with out the cameras gives them a moment to see eye to eye.mind you all, this is just a clip...there is more that went on.
I admit electronic music like anything if used with taste to inhance or create music can work great, just listen to Pink Floyd they weren't afraid to experiment and some great inovations came from that. I Had the honor of playing drums with the legend bassist Doug Lubahn of The Doors. Doug said, Jim was great to be around almost anytime, a great sense of humor, considered each member of the band as part of the soul of The Doors and John Densmore's human touch on drum's kept it grounded.

John is one of the coolest rockers - in every sense of the word cool - of all time. I love that he learned how to play the drums in high school band (those were the days). His book "Riders on the Storm" is the gold standard for rock 'n roll biography, or roman a clef if you prefer. His grief about Jim is genuine, and his impatience with Manzarek's endless attempts to cash in on Jim's legend is likewise heartfelt. A real mensch all the way around.

I just can't say liking a person more for doing something irrelevant and pointless doesn't seem to make any sense. "Real Musicians" = PEOPLE [with instruments]. It doesn't mean BETTER or anything like that.

... all a bit odd. presumably john didn't 'have to' be there. he wasn't keen at all. but if he did have to be there, well then that says a lot about the business (and perhaps something about john). i just hope he keeps blocking the others when they want old doors tracks released for ads. is nothing sacred?

i think Sonny (Skrillex) handled the tension very well. as for not getting up..i don't even know if he noticed that and he didnt mean disrespect by it. i don't even know if they hadn't met before. it might also be the obvious...pure nervousness. try meeting someone you have admired for years and keep your cool! stop judging Skrillex and saying 'oh i don't know him either'...you have a computer to youtube and write that, look him up!! same for if you don't know who the Doors are!

funny lots of comments debating what is a musician. especially saying that what Skrillex does is not hard. if its not, then please, go do it. Personally i had no problem with this collaboration seeing im a fan of the Doors and of Skrillex. John explains a little bit about his apprehension working with Skrillex and electronic sounds but i think with out the cameras gives them a moment to see eye to eye.mind you all, this is just a clip...there is more that went on.

I admit electronic music like anything if used with taste to inhance or create music can work great, just listen to Pink Floyd they weren't afraid to experiment and some great inovations came from that. I Had the honor of playing drums with the legend bassist Doug Lubahn of The Doors. Doug said, Jim was great to be around almost anytime, a great sense of humor, considered each member of the band as part of the soul of The Doors and John Densmore's human touch on drum's kept it grounded.

John is one of the coolest rockers - in every sense of the word cool - of all time. I love that he learned how to play the drums in high school band (those were the days). His book "Riders on the Storm" is the gold standard for rock 'n roll biography, or roman a clef if you prefer. His grief about Jim is genuine, and his impatience with Manzarek's endless attempts to cash in on Jim's legend is likewise heartfelt. A real mensch all the way around.

@SaladToppings there's nothing wrong with it, just because an artist say's its wrong doesnt make it true, I looked through wikipedia and couldn't see anything on the subject. I just can't say liking a person more for doing something irrelevant and pointless doesn't seem to make any sense. This logic is taking into account my opinion that allowing people to use your music would be a win-win for everybody.

for all to know...skrillex or the man Sonny Moore was a front man for a good band(rock) before he launched his solo project. i would say its an easier challenge to clash with Densmore then the other line-ups.i think its funny that im probably the only person with both the doors and skrillex as my favorite bands/artist, i grew up listening to the doors. and skrillex is the shit.

@MellyxPants Doors might be legendary for their part but Skrillex is legendary in another sense. Skirllex is a dubstep/electronic GENIUS and he revolutionized this enough to be played everywhere. You don't see The Doors on commercials anymore yet Skrillex is. Just accept he's the future since The Doors will just die out.

That would be 1978's "An American Prayer" and was only position 54 in the charts. And Skrillex started in 2008 and has an enormous following plus five Grammy's within those almost 4 years. And The Doors can't live on, they started in 1965 officially. Do that math and they been around for about 47 years. You understand they only got 20 years at max? Know your facts.
