What is the program you are using??? I'm using Brevecreatures, But I only have the screen saver.. I've watched it and I have to say I enjoy it allot! what program is this? if it is Brevecreatures, how do you do the things you are doing in the video?
hi, i'm running my first evolution now im at g16 or something. one thing i dont get is how you change the floor texture.. the way i did is replace the original with another in the folder.. but there mst be a better way?? ..i love 3DVCE, cant wait for the next version.
yeah, it's a great mechanism... people loves religion and talks about god creating everything, but i think this mechanisms are even more beautyful than any god idea.
Hey Lee, this one is pretty neat. I like the evolutionary branching.
I don't know if I ever mentioned this idea to you in one of my ranting emails about your software already. But have you thought about making it so all of the creatures start as a minimum set of pieces, like 2 or 3, and then mutations ADD or SUBTRACT pieces? Rather than starting with a fixed number? I think this would evolve much more robust designs, with fewer (probably no) extraneous bits.
It's a good idea, but given the way that my genomes are decoded to make bodies, it would require a significant rewrite. I seem to recall having read at least one paper somewhere, though, where someone took an approach more like your idea - where bodies really were built by just slapping one new part at a time (over evolutionary time) to an existing body instead of "growing" a body using recursive genetic rules.
That's great! can you develop the video as showing the evolution of B and C starting from A to see the variations in time that gives these 2 different virtual creatures from the same ancestor?
This would be perfect for my science class since we are learning about evolution.

Is bilateral symmetry part of the program or does it just show up naturally?

B looks like a terrifying galloping gorilla monster

tentacular sounds naughty

it would be so awsome (if possible/not litterally impossible) to ultimately simulate our evolution. it would be semi-creepy thou :S

creature B wins, C is a retard ;D
bltnxkrw 1 year ago
@bltnxkrw I prefer B as well :)
kjlg74 1 year ago
@kjlg74 But perhaps C, although slightly retarded, is a nicer creature at heart.

@kjlg74 looks like B is about to start flying any second :D

does this thing evolved automatically in the simulation? o_O
if it's so, you are a genious xD
danesbenoit 2 years ago
It did. Check out the other vids too. Lot of strange things have come out of this program :)

@danesbenoit
well, i guess actually, evolution would be "genius" :)

Just a thought :)

Damned if I can remember the reference.

Good idea separating an evolution down 2 different paths. What generation was creature A ?
fractal420 2 years ago
About a hundred or so, if I recall correctly. I changed the population sizes and fitness functions from time to time in all of these evolutions.

nice! take a look at my virtual evolution creatures too :D

Thanks! Those are pretty cool :)

Well, I probably won't go back and record these creatures again, but I'll almost certainly show changes over time in other videos in the future.

Another great video! Keep up the fantastic work.
