This isn't Amish.....this was Australia back in the 1700-1800's....I doubt acid existed then :P. They probably went a bit too OTT with the sparks, but damn it's still impressive. Actually I do have to hold some degree of respect for the kids in the giant cogs/wheels/corrugated cans, especially the one at 2:24...(you can't tell here if he's supported by wire or not). You'd get dizzy from flipping around in that for a while!
Good to see some Irish representation in the games considering 40% of this nation have Irish heritage. Our humour, defiance against authority, wit, stubborness and our drinking habits... highly influenced by the Irish convicts and settlers... Well done Ian.
Hi fiddla2 are you actually Ian Cooper? Your composition is absolutely incredible - I heard an excerpt in one of our music exams and had to hear the whole version
The whole way through this I'm thinking "SOME ONE IS GOING TO DIE" with all that metal flying around.. But I noticed the culverts have rubber tubing around the edges.. But notice the guys with axes, and such.. Danger, Danger, Danger.. But considering they are Australians, its like oh, this is normal.
HAHAHAHA yeah back in old Aust i dont think they worried about danger so much.... and they are telling sotory about ned kelly in this vid...soo like back in 1800s they didnt have much safty brains in them ha.
Im proud to be austrlian.
We have so much interesting history and landscapes.
Thank you so much! I'm from Spain, and the spanish tv put 8 minutes of commercials just when this part of the show was beginning. I've been all this years searching for this. There are still 3 minutes missing, but this is great.
Well I NEVER! If this isn't the hokiest thing I ever saw! Now why can't we Americans do something like this for the 4th of July! I almost forgot to listen to the music, Ian! I'll have to play it again and not watch.
My goodness... this brings back so many memories... (My Mom was a dunny roof in this sequence) :D
Overall, the music is something I'll never forget... If only I could find the soundtrack somewhere. :/ But I'm glad that you could provide me and so many others such a wonderful memory.
Thank you 100 Percent!

When we were at the Sydney Olympics we bought the Opening Ceremony CD just for this piece of music.

I guess acid is legal in Ireland.
t4kne 4 years ago
@t4kne you missed the point. it's the Aussie 2000 Olympics, many of the earliest settlers and convicts were Irish, especially in Victoria.

"what you think is an electric guitar solo is in fact heavy metal electric violin." how can they do the 'bends'??
soapywater 5 years ago
It's called sliding. It's easier to do on a violin because there's no frets. Ian.
