I must say having owned both., that the JX-3P and the Juno 60 sound nothing alike at all , infact the 3P , is in my mind having used all the proform and roland synth gear of the time , the most original sounding roland midi polysynth.
You can sync the sequencer of the JX3P to anything that sends out trigger signals. I have a TR707 that has the ability to sync to midi and at the same time send out trigger signals.
If you would use a pulse trigger from your computer and send that with a regular audio cable into the clock-in of the JX it would work also...
A Tr606 also has these trigger outs, and a tr 808 too.
You can fake the trigger using a short pulse wave from your computer or sampler...
those are right now, the only synths i own. Both are really nice synths. The Juno 60 has the nobler, better sound, the sliders, and its ass kicking sexy look. The JX-3P has midi a sequencer, and more programming abilitys (Syncsounds etc.) I like my Juno 60 more beside they can sound similar in a way, it always sounds richer and powerfuller.
Nice Demo, is it possible to have a mp3 demo ? Those drums are from a 606 right ?
I just like the filter on the JX more I think... it's more 'funky'...
Those drums are from my trusty Roland MC303 which has kinda nice 808 sounds. I just bought a 707 for the punchiness and the ability to sync the JSQ (juno 60) to the JX3P with trigger and to midi gear. It's really cool to be able to jam a little without using the computer (I have a slight problem with RSI).
I'll have a look at converting the sounds of the video to mp3, if that is what you mean?
wish i had a JSQ-60 also.. No i mean the first , and the last track of this Video. I really like it in a way. Beside my Juno 60 and JX3P i have the Linndrum, it also has a trigger output, unfortunaly just one. I f i had two i could sync the JX3P too. Maybe i should buy a 606 it has two trigger outputs.
Yeah... you could just buy a splitter-cable or double the trigger signal with a patchbay... I guess that way it would work on both machines.
Yeah the intro and outro song is an MP3 I made jamming with the JX3P and the JUNO... it's not a finished track, there are errors, but if you like it I just send it to you... pm me with email adress...
Sorry, hope my comment wasn't too rude. You're right - the fact we can't always tell which one you're playing totally does add to the point you're trying to make about them sounding similar. I think I was just frustrated that I couldn't tell what was going on due to the slow video! I should've just used my ears more and my eyes less....
I agree, they can sound very similar. I'm pretty amazed what the Juno can do with its single osc..
Sometimes it's hard to see... my camera is kinda... slow... but the fact that at some times you can't really tell wich one I'm playing showes that they càn sound the same...
In the beginning (strings and pluck bass) I think it's pretty obvious... later it gets confusing... I think that's the whole point... or something. DIdn't think too much about it, it is what is is... and it was fun to make :-)
Appreciate the comment though, you're right it's not very clear.
Am I just stupid, or does the blurry video not kind of devalue the result of your experiment when we can't always tell which synth you're playing....?
dude your videos are great, i can listen to vintage synth- forever !

Might be a stupid question, but can you sync the JX3P to a midi drum machine?

Glad you had fun making it; that's what counts!

It wasn't a rude remark, it's the truth, the video is kinda slow... your remark didn't bother me at all...
The Juno is just crazy, I really love it... I wish I had the PG200 to go with the JX3P for tweaking easiness...
