  • I even dropped my n64 down the stairs once and it still worked ha.

  • They just don't make them how they use to. All this stuff about rrod , ylod, blank screens, internal clock errors and consoles that are outdated with a magic wand. My snes works perfect all the time and the genesis I got in the mail that was SUPER dirty has not yet to fail once reading a cartridge, didn't even have to blow in it.

  • I tried playing some new Playstation 3 games that I received for Christmas and I didn't get much play time in. One hour I spent most of my time down loading corrupt files. One of my games didn't even work. I am about to just play my Wii instead , because I am getting sick of the buggy PS3 and all of the down loads that do not work. The PS3 is worse than a computer. I am going to call Sony about the problems that I am having.

  • Yeah man another investment to prevent it from happening in the future u could always umm backup ur stuff on like an external hardrive or something

  • yeah well this same problem goes for XBOX 360...if u download stuff off of PSN or XBOX LIVE u have a chance of ur hard drive gettin fucked up. This happened to me twice on xbox 360...thats why i back up my stuff on my ps3 with my external hard drive so i have all my saves n everything still if anything ever happens...BUT u can buy a 500gb hard drive for ps3 for about 100 dollars SO it can be fixed EASY...360 has a better chance of getting the RRoD than anything else.

  • Many credit cards provide a 2 year product purchase warranty, merely by buying the item with the card. My visa does, anything I cuy I keep the receipts for 2 years and the visa plan will cover it automaticaly. Ths works even if you buy the item and pay off the credit card instantly.

  • That's sad... and 150$? That's just awful... for such expencive console you would expect good service (or better -> good and stable work)...

    /I'm NOT a fanboy of any console/

    heads up ;)

  • Sucks that you're having trouble, man. I've gone through 4 PSOnes, my PS2 was solid and PS3 was okay, but the XBOX is getting a lot better exclusives and honestly doesn't have the loading shit that cripples the PS3.

Sony is a big disappointment, in my opnion.

  • LOL dude really when I think about it all 3 current gen consoles SUCK. Think about it, they all break really quick, most of the 360 exclusives are on PC or will be, all of Sony's exclusives are great but have taken forever to come out(no full game of Gran Turismo or Twisted Metal yet)and the other console is about is powerful as a Sega Dreamcast with a gimmicky controller. No mater what side of the fanboys you decide to side with, they are all idiots.

  • I agree with you there. These companies are becoming less prioritized on quality and more on quantity which has led to your dilemma. It's like with my BlackBerry. Fucking Sprint has sent me the same phone four times because their phones are shit, but I'm on Sprint so I'm SOL.

The only problem is innovation. Companies seem to think those new controller "styles" will draw gamers in, but after they realize what the hell they just bought, it's too late. Fuck the Wii!

  • That's my feelings dude. And why the heck don't companies TEST the friggin' downloads on one of their own units before unleashing it to the public? There have even been Wii's that have broken because of a system update that people downloaded, and Wii's are made like Rubbermaid!

This is why I love retro consoles, you don't have to worry about any of this nonsense.

  • sorry that you're having trouble, i'm going through something similar, it's a different kinda glitching that's been going on for a year now, sent it to get fixed a couple of months ago but it broke :( so i'm waiting for the new year to send it back.

i really hope you find a way to work it all out in the end.

  • Did you try deleting fat princess. I just had this kind of warranty shit with my 42 inch vizio tv 2 weeks after warranty expired then my fucking 19 in gateway monitor took a shit and wont turn on

  • Yes of course that was the very first thing I did.

  • Also, that sucks to hear your monitors died. I think it's some kind of conspiracy to get people to spend more money this Christmas lol.

  • Actually that wouldnt surprise me both me my mom and grandmas Vizio tv's went out right after the 2 year mark

  • that sux.. but i gotta tease ya for all ur ranting and raving.. my Wii still works just fine :P LOL

love ya sin, GL with all that...

  • Yeah, but it's still a Wii lol.

  • Dang, bro. That really sucks!

  • aHaHahahahhaha my ps3 works like a beauty!!

  • Fuck that sucks man! I would say fuck it and buy a slim. it's only $150 more.

  • I guess they dont make them like they use to, my SNES still works, N64, Gamecube, it seems that every console generation the craftsmanship gets worse and worse

  • That is REALLY weird. Really REALLY weird.

  • Thats Fucked .... Never owned a PS3 .... Was thinking about buying one on Black Friday .... But I Might Think Twice Now .....

  • buy it this is super rare i had my ps3 for 3 year and it work fine this guy just got some bad luck for $150 he should go get a slim P.S it sony donwload that f up they should fix for free

  • That sucks, i hate when you pay high dollar for something and it craps out on you.

  • You can usually find people who can fix it on Craigslist. (If you wanna go that route) They normally charge from $30-50.

  • My PS3 has YLOD'ed 5 times, had it repaired 4 times given up on the fifth breakdown, so i can understand your frustration.

Sony used to be a manufactuer of high quality goods, "used to be" being the operative words sadly.

  • try factory reset? said it did it after the update so maybe resting it will fix it.

  • It seems like all the pre-rendered cinematics and titles and any kind of video or image file in the games files are appearing normally, and anything that is rendered live by the PS3 is freaking out. I'm not sure what would cause this kind of a glitch because normally if your video card was messing up the ENTIRE video would look fucked, even the pre rendered and still images. This is really weird.

I think its the eprom lol

  • Don't worry too much about save files dude, you can easily download files from Gamefaqs to USB. They're not your saves obviously but they're the next best thing.

But I think you should hold out till the next PS3 update, maybe it'll rectify it.

But you should get a 360 though. Just as an "alternate" console if nothing else.

  • Most Sony stuff goes wrong after a year or so. The only thing from Sony I've had that HASN'T broken is my PS2. Everything else has been shit and unreliable.

  • Can't you still backup your saved data?

Secondly, your downloaded games can be "re-downloaded" on PSN.

    Sucks about the console Sinister...

  • The saved data was erased by a option that took the "corrupted data" off my hard drive that the dude over at Sony told me to do. I asked him if it would mess with the game saves and he was half right since half were deleted. Yeah I know the games can be redownloaded. But of course it will be pointless to redownload them until I get a fully working unit again. It's all a major bummer man.

  • I see...sorry to hear that Sinister.

  • I had the same problem with the XBox 360 once. Luckly I still had a warranty for it so I sent it in. But it sucks that companies can't make reliable consoles these days...I still have an SNES and it works like a charm.

  • I would try that because a corrupt file may be causing your problem. It is easy to do.

  • sinistermoon,

Did you delete everything so that it brought the machine back to the original state as when you bought it?

  • Not yet. But that is the next step I'm going to take since it won't hurt to at least try. And since my save games are all gone I don't have anything else to lose.

  • man, this really sucks, hope you can get this fixed without sending it in to them

  • I'm no PS3 expert but I think you're right. It looks like a GPU or vRAM issue to me. You see the same kind of artifacting on a video card that is either overheated or has bad video RAM on it. Could have been from heat, or voltage/power issues. Sucks man. The new stuff is packing so much power into a console that yes they don't seem to hold up nearly as well as older systems.

  • You have a right to be mad, this is complete shit. People have said it thousands of times, but it's piss poor when I can play my 30 year old intellevision but these new systems keep breaking.

  • lol dude never seen you piss, but i hear your frustrations, been through consoles fucking up. luckly you got retro to look foward to. lol

  • You should make a paypal thing. I'm sure people will donate money to fix your PS3.

  • That sucks dude

  • HA!...i caught u insulting PS3...XBOX forever...lol just kidding

  • The new gamming genneration is fail. They will only fix the first 360 for free at 3 years, after that its a 90 day warrenty. Plus I don't want to be playing my games with no dildo.

  • could be a bad cable when you change your resolution for each game

  • that sucks man. it seems like the older ps3s are really starting to have problems. i'm pretty paranoid about my 20 gig breaking down.

  • LMFAO that's just bad karma for talking shit about the 360 man, tough luck at least the 360 has a three year warranty :D

  • That sucks. My Wii's got the same problem with the white dots everywhere. I got it back at the launch and I know they'll charge my to fix it.

  • (continued)

Try turning the switch off on the back, hold the power button, switch on (back), and keep holding, try until two beeps, if not, look up recovery mode, I forgot how to access it. I'm not sure if it'll help, but just trying to help.

  • Damn dude... I feel you man, yesterday my PS3 went apeshit on me while it was installing 3.10 at about 63% done, I kinda had those same dots, but it was all a green screen and kept glitching around. It scared the crap out of me, but it eventually stopped and went back to normal. Still pissed me off though.

I'm disappointed Sony won't do anything when it was clearly their fault, even Nintendo fixes don't cost (maybe just shipping it out)

  • dude that fucking blows fat donkey dick.

i had to spend $150 on a new PSU last week and it's just been an all around crappy two months.

Yeah it definitely has to do with the GPU. I've had a $200 video card and a motherboard taken out by a blown PSU long ago...

like you said though I think probably the worst is the save games being lost... time is one thing you can't ever get back.

I wish this upon nobody man and I hope things turn around soon.

  • 150 bucks! That's bullshit!

  • Dude... that sucks ASS! WTF! :(

  • Could be your tv or the cables dude.

  • It's not the cables dude.

  • I had a bad HDMI cable and the same thing happened. Got a cheap HDMI cable for $5 and it's been fine since.

  • It does the same thing through HDMI, Component and Composite.

  • my ps3 and 360 have system broken this gen but the wii. lol When my ps3 broke i sent it to sony and there like we can fix this and then they tell me that they can't. So i had to pay for a new ps3 and the shipping for sending to sony and stuff. But when i sent my 360 in the 3 time it was free and stuff and that made me happy.

  • woahh thats weird dude
