I disagree. I don't watch the media, I look at those who are learned about the economy, and I do some learning myself. If you follow the facts -- especially with our credit bubble! -- you have to realize that it's not going to hold up indefinitely. You have to realize that we've spent several years building up a credit bubble, creating money out of thin air in the form of interest. We can't hold that up forever. Do independent research on your own and think carefully about what you learn.
We do need to focus on the positive. I too don't watch TV news. It is filled with downers - and when you look around, most of us are doing pretty good.
You are soooo RIGHT!! If people got the facts and not the negative opinion spoon fed to us by the networks and internet, then we wouldn't be teetering on recession (no, we're still not in one yet despite the slow economy and very challenged housing market. There is hope !!
I completely agree with you Billy Ann!! It would help if we could actually get some real news in this country! There are one or two alternatives out there like NPR and/or BBC but other than that, it's all sensationalism and news for the sake of entertainment (don't get me started!!!!). Then again, there's always the off switch on the remote!
The media is lying. Gas is 50 cents a gallon and the dollar is as strong as it was in 1900. You must believe what politicians say - please do not think for yourself.
you don't get it do you idiot. She has a point.. The more negative media opinion people watch, the more they react and thus make the prophecy come true. They stop spending, they stop investing, start selling off investments, and pretty soon real estate values drop, stock values drop, the dollar weakens, oil prices rise etc. All spurred along by fear caused in part by the negative media who are all fighting to be the first to exploit the drama and bad news of the country. It's all psychology!
