  • Yeah I added it when I got multi engine instrument rating, (anything you can get extra for free from the caa!) lovely place to fly to Swansea, flying along on the gower coastline is great, quite often take trial flights over if they've got an hour flight.

  • still a good safe landing. Better slightly high than too low hey :) any landing you can walk away from... Must have been a nice flight this i'd like to fly down to Swansea sometime.. Do you have your IMC rating? Liam.

  • high on approach....

  • @liamsandie

    Ah well, there you go.

  • how much does the training for a CPL cost at swansea?

  • No CPL at Swansea, I was just hour building with the Cambrian Flying club based there.

Im using AEROS at Gloucester on the course at the moment, they are cheaper than Bristol and a very good set up.

  • Check out Wales Air Network (Google it!) to explore Swansea Airport's future.

  • we need to get some passenger jets into swansea airport...i reckon runway 22/4 is just long enough!

  • I think it would more be a case of the airport not being able to handle the PAX of a jet!

Air Wales used to fly their ATR 42/72's in there though so a small service is possible, maybe something like Highlands out of Cardiff on Jetstream 41's, may give me the chance of a job too!

  • 22/04 is in fact longer than plymouth city airports runway, and plymouth gets passenger flights every day, in the dash 8 300! and the fact that its longer means I think we could push just to land a KLM fokker F70 on it?! Do you agree?!

  • Runway length isnt the problem, its what to do with the passengers, the terminal is tiny, the car park is a gravel pit, and its in the middle of nowhere. Iits perfect for GA and possibly a small service. In fact a small service has just started running out of Pembrey so it will be good to use that as a gauge to see if it would work or not. But with Cardiff just down the road the airports not going to get the amount of investment needed to bring it up to scratch to attract a larger carrier.
