Walking away from the speakers, in the first half of the stanza,when you sing "What The - WORLD needs now" WORLD being the highest note of the stanza, Jackie's enunciation becomes lost in the shuffle in the original cut while your effort is clear because of your power and range, It is important to express this important note without the use of too much force or volume. Your selling this so well and it flows so effortlessly with the volume on "high" or "low". It should be released .

The truth was the song, music lyrics and arrangement was so strong, any number of vocalists at that time could have owned this one, Dionne for sure, Petula, Cilla Black,Lulu etc. I would have to say that this post is one of your most flawless performances, your power, clarity, tone consistency and choice of ample reverb gives this a very professional sounded cut, worthy of Top40 airplay.Although you chose an ending, they still would probably have you fade. This one could have been your platinum!

I was nine when this classic Bacharach-David song came out in 65' , with Dionne added to the formula they produced an prolific "hit machine" and dominated the airwaves in the sixties. I really don't know why Jackie DeShannon got the nod to do the honors on this one but she said in her interview that she flew to NY and Burt liked it on the first take and recorded it on the second. Her voice at the time was cutesy and trendy,not to discredit her in any way.
