  • really nice interpretation

  • I have to add, though, that if these actors could bring the tone down a bit, it would be more tolerable. But that said, they are great actors and do an amazing job with their voices especially. They all work well with one another, and the costumes are bewildering and appropriate for the tone.

  • i performed this at school i was Begger Woman and Father

    A++ Yay me

  • im doing beggar woman as well.. i hope i dont stuff it up

  • i dont agree with the characterization of the characters.

I played the Maid, but the thing about the bridegroom is that frustrated as he is, he truly loves his mother.

  • We did a production of this...I was the Father...i had talcum powder in my hair :)

  • weird...I was the neighbor for my skool plaY!!! ^_^

  • Subtext is Muddled - American Accent detracts from the Characters. Appauling !

  • Highlights? If these are the best bits then how bad is the rest? I'm doing this play for A level (AS) at Kett 6 in sprowston and im playing the mother. Why does the mother put a knife to her sons throat at the begging? She loves her son and holds on to him with her life because she has no one else. And why does he try to strangle her in the next scene? Even though he's fed up with her greiving he still cares about her. And he would NEVER do this 3:14 its stupid. And all of the acting is wooden.

  • im studying this play for my as level in drama i am a lamda (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) tutor and i found this prodution truely shocking i have seen a prodution by 13 year olds better it is utterly awful i believe that the prodution we are doing is going to be 50 times better

  • You've taken a lot of liberties that bother me, because they betray the relationships some of the characters have. For instance, the groom's frustration over his mother's talk of her dead husband and son? He loves his mother but he feels neglected at the same time. You just have him covering his ears like a resistant child. And I don't know why Leonardo is doubled over rather than macho and swaggering, or why the Mother is THAT dark. This interpretation relies too much on intensity.

  • You could not have said it better and took the words right out of my mouth. I am playing the Mother (for an October presentation at Hillsborough Community College of the Performing Arts, Tampa, Florida) and I love the play's underlying intensity but this may be too dramatic. However, thank you for posting it, for it is interesting to see a new version of the piece. The work even has a satirical, comic tone to it even with all the sadness, so it need not be all knives and death.

  • Thank you! Yeah, I played the Mother last spring, so I was researching bits on youtube at the time. Besides, this play isn't just a concept, it's real people- and real people are comic and funny sometimes. Besides, the more we let the audience enjoy that and ANTICIPATE the tragedy, the harder the tragedy will hit them. The Mother is the only one who really sees it coming.

  • I agree 'Pena Negra' - its missing!

  • Max...you were upset that you had to work with amateur actors so you decided to make your audience sit through 2 1/2 hours of Butoh meets Viewpoints? This is disgusting and mastabatory. Did you read the script? It is a LOVE story. filled with symbolism and poetry. filled with EMOTION! You don't need to make the other characters monsters to want L & B to get 2gether.They're all written with depth. It's not about a concept - its's about LOVE! Next time try directing Machinal or the Penal Colony.

  • Physically, its fairly good, but the american accents stand out like a clumsy oversite by the director and reduce Lorca's poetic language to a toe curlingly day time soap opera genre.

  • this is awful

this is the worst production ive ever seen of it

you have convayed the characters all wrong, and the understanding of the play is horriable. i cant belive theres this many people leaving compliments, your just confusing people

  • awesome! I'm playing Leonardo in a performance in about half a years time...i've only just kinda realised watching this how hard it'll be :P good fun tho!

  • Its very...emotional

  • seems too obvious of an opposition

  • I play also the bridgegroom:)..its dificult piece.

  • i pictured the bridegroom much more relaxed in the first Act, and the blindning white light should be saved up for the last Act when the moon comes in.

  • I love Blood Wedding! The most emotional play. We are currently playing it at theatre. I play bride.

  • I am doin blood wedding 4 my lst performance at college, its really good fun

  • i know it is fun, i have a role as the bridgegroom, but my friend and i still having the difficulty in performing this drama. well , if you dont mind, i would like to know, the stgae design of your blood wedding, how you describe the stge, what color did you used??

  • Hey Im The Bridegroom TOO!

  • What the o.O

I am going to perform this play on Saturday, and I am the bridegroom, but I am nowhere near as emotional as that. Like at the beggining, I'm just annoyed by my mom talking. And did you guys rewrite the script? The lines are so different.

But the mother being crazy, haha, that hasn't changed. The person playing mother is still crazy xD

I'm just troubled and deeply in love with the bride. But this is different then what I expected, haha. Still good though ;]

  • Where is Lorca? Were is the play?

    No where to found?

  • this is quite interesting to see... i just recently found out i am to play the bride in a production of exerts from this script...

  • I'm doing a production of this now and Im playing the Bridegroom..... ive never even imagined it this way

  • excellent use of lighting and symbolism
