I got to meet Jo and Lauren. They came and performed in my (small) town. There wasnt much of a crowd but they sang their hearts out, at one time they were face to face screaming two entirely different songs and it was amazing, Ive never seen anything else like it. Afterward my friend said something like "Whats it feel like to be here in a hick town" Jo was completely gracious and said she loved the town and we shouldnt take its assets for granted. Truly a class act.
Sensational. This song gets me deep inside my Hi Energy child that grew up in the 80s. I love her vocals in this, thwe 80s were so beautifully desperate in Hi Energy records. Just made you want to dance your ass off ,and have a fricking goood time. This is possibly my FAV HiEnergy record. It gives me serious chills. TO DIE 4, passion like this will never rise again like it did in the 80s!
What a fab record and one I will always get up to dance to and so grateful to see the actual singers, it makes me feel very happy hearing this after so many years
I had the very fortunate pleasure of booking this extrodinary woman for an AIDS benefit. Fortunate in that she was a truly down to earth human being. She graciously came after 2 other artists backed out at the last minute, on spite of the fact that her good friend Michael Diebold was in the process of dying, at his insistance she came to do the show. On the flight over he passed away. It is her singing lead BTW regardless of what the record might say...miss you Ms. Jo Carol
Wow, that's my girl, Jo-Carol, bless her soul. Went to HS with her in early 70's and have great memories of visiting her and partying in SF on numerous occasions until her untimely passing. Miss you, Jo!
In that case her voice has changed quite a bit from that of 1980. I suspect it's not her voice here, but that of Lauren. If not, she's been credited wrong in tracks by Cowley.
As they say about a duck: Looks like Jo (no question, here), sounds like Jo (and I doubt they would lip-sync each other's parts), must be Jo. Perhaps the vinyl credits are mistaken. I will check my copy.
Listen to iceaxesun. Jo was the lead on that and Lauren is behind the keyboard and background vocals. Jo-Carol was my best friend (she had a lot of them) and one of my friends is in the video. If you ever saw her perform, you would have no doubt that it's Jo on lead.
Today is Jo Carol's birthday. Jo was my friend too, and I produced a show featuring JOLO. Jo was the lead signer, and lovely Lauren held down the back up vocals. Both were AIDS warriors and tred where few dared to venture, doing many, many, MANY benefits. Jo was about to break through to stardom, when she passed of a brain aneurysm in her early 40s on her way to the SF Cabaret Finals. Long live Jo Carol and JOLO, too!

They played this song occasionally at Trocadero at peak time. I attended an aerobics class where we did special aerobic choreography to "Last Call"

Actually the lead vocals are by Lauren here. The lady behind the keyboards is Jo.

Ummm, sorry but no. You are mistaken. Jo is the one singing the lead.
