  • Great song! So exciting to know there are other people that read these books. Everyone i try and foist them on refuses to treat themselves.

  • I would really hate to be nailed to a tree

  • is great music but pic could an arid scene with dust and mounds...some starving sagebrush or something. Not to be picky or anything....anyone seen bent?

  • I wish Kit Soden would do a "Bridgeburners Song". Remember Kimloc's Tano spirit song from the battle of Raraku in House of Chains? I'd love a tune to put to that scene... I kept trying to imagine what Fiddler was hearing in his head and I kept imagining something like Carmina Burana (the Excalibur battle scene segment) with really heavy drums, and slightly more "ghostly" vocals. I'm sure Kit Soden could pull something like that off. :) Please Kit?

  • @williambbertram will do!! but give me some time, working on some other compositions, as well as another album with malazan lyrics...

  • superb

  • the telephone poll killed my boner

  • that's it! I'm subbing on evertone that's Malazanized.

Very very moving music. fit's perfectly.....

  • Just a great song that fits the book perfectly. If they ever make a Malazan HBO series, this song should be in it.

  • Great job. Oh and thank you for the spoiler Trolluser lol. :P In the middle of Deadhouse Gates now.

  • @williambbertram Dont look up anything Malazan related. Trust me, I was spoiled too.

  • @CyJoZa Fortunately I wasn't too far from that part in the book lol. Getting ready to start House of Chains tonight.

  • This song is the reason for the Khundryl's later exploits.

Also, I think you forgot to add the sound of Squint's arrowshot into the mix. You know, so us listeners know when we're supposed to start crying in earnest?

  • Very beautiful. It really fits the mood perfectly. I have just now finished reading "The Crippled God" and am deeply moved by the power of Mr. Eriksons storytelling.

  • @EarinShaad such a true comment.... first set of books to ever draw a tear to my eye

  • I hope Coltaine likes power poles.

  • Amazingly beautiful...fits not just with Coltaine, but with all of those who have fallen throughout the series.

  • "Flies! Oh, spirits below—flies…

The swarm grew closer, a flapping, tumbling nightmare.

The horsewife screamed in wordless anguish, as if giving voice to a thousand

grieving souls. Releasing the widow's wrist, she fell to her knees.

The young woman's heart hammered with sudden realization.

No, not flies. Crows. Crows, so many crows—Deep within her, the child stirred."

    I came buckets.

  • Very beautiful. It invokes great sorrow and pain...just like it should.

  • A movie for these series would be sweet, however, the amount of acters needed is huge, and making a lesser movie on a low budget ( probably what it would be if it was made now) would be spitting in the face of all of the fans around the world, with technology advancing though, we might see a movie within this decade, that is if SE will have it so :)

  • @Hjobbo We can only hope buddy

  • Excellent song! I tip my hat to you sir.

  • this is wonderful.

the chain of dogs and the fall of coltaine was probably the most moving part of the series for me... devastating. broke my heart.

  • @chlorr totally agree, the sengar family getting destroyed was a close second, and the realationship with mappo an icarium third :(.

  • What we need is more Malazan artwork and maybe a movie of it. Seriously. A movie would be pure awesomeness. AWESOMENESS, I TELL YOU.

  • Amazing piece of music. It has so much emotion in it. Lots of foreboding, anticipation and sadness.

  • RIP

Coltaine, Duiker, List, The Nameless Marine, and the rest of The Chain of Dogs

  • Absolute Perfection... Captures the Final Stand to a T.

  • Hail Coltaine

  • wow, that was just sick

  • thank you :) moving...

  • Just finished Toll the Hounds. Looking forward to Dust of Dreams!

  • krrraaaa krrrrraaaa....

  • Very song...Just thinking about that scene make my eyes water...

  • I half through DG. This series is amazing!

  • Next up MOI, and that one is my fav of the series. All this so I can be up to speed for TTH, ordered it off amazon and waiting for it anyday now. thanks for the music although a sunset out in the desert would have fit even better...hmm, maybe I'll do that :-)

  • rereading DHG right now, just starting the chain of dogs chapters, Felsin just became the whorllwind goddess and coltaine and crew narrowly winning another battle. I already know the outcome and it kills me flying across the desert unable to escape it, kind of like the thought of the 7th as well. They all know.

  • you're going to love it... you'll appreciate this song more after you've finished DHG...

  • Thanks for this. Great music for the scene. I was moved to tears by the Fall, next time I reread the series I'll definitely have this playing in my head.

  • a dog is pulled and yet pulls the dog behind it..a chain of dogs.

  • Very moving music indeed|(and sunset)..echoes wonderfully the pathos of Coltaine's fall......i wander if mr Erikson himself has seen this video?..im sure it would make him smile..

  • I felt like I was on the walls of Aren watching Coltaine die all over again, helpless........

Amazing, no other word for this, or the book.

  • Man... I just reread Deadhouse Gates for the umpteenth time, and I nearly cried with the story of Chain of Dogs... Seriously. I was struck again how beautifully written and emotionally evocative it was. This music is almost perfectly expressing the story... Thank you.

  • brillant :-)

  • Very moving - couldn't stop picturing Coltaine's final stand outside Aren.

  • This is brilliant, love it, very fitting, plus the sunrise, very good.

  • luv dese books. love memories of ice especially. the funniest parts hav 2 be followin the malazan army and the squads.

  • he was easily as tactically adept as whiskeyjack

and cold iron would be best to describe coltaine, hence his outstanding fallback tactics. he knew time was chasing him quick on that run and he knew the sacrifice he would have to make.

  • btw finally to talk about coltaine

  • no 1 gave a shit about their own squad like whiskeyjack.

cant express enough how u hit the notes, the deep dark decreprit notes, so much it hurts!

  • one of the most disturbing notions of this series is the aspect of slavemaster silgar.

  • whiskeyjack has too much balls to accept becoming an ascendant.

  • so true, but prob most regrettable part about the whole damn storry

  • but yea hoods balls on an azalan infested platter that was extremely moving.

  • fuck you korbolo dom AND kamist reloe DIRTY

    Heboric is a devilish saint

and ye kudos to my negative who wants to hear bout capustan was one of the dirtiest battles fought in this series.

but what about their leader.... who expected eternal damnation..... his own mother was a centerpeice to many tenescowri and now his body is ressurected as no other than toc the younger.

    WHISKEYJACK!

  • hoods wrinkled old scrotum that was good!

Coltaine was the best character ever.

  • It has that dusty sandy dying taste like that of coltaines chain of dogs across the seven cities continent...reminds me of the proposition...coltaines tale is one of the greatest tales i've ever beheld, truly amazing and this does it justice ~nods~

  • He was the gratest hero i've ever heard or read...

    Thank you for this video...

  • Care to share an mp3/ogg?

  • This is fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Well done.

  • NICE ONE MAN!

  • GO STEVEN ERIKSON! My fave author. damn good music. There should be an album. Never heard of that, though, and album for a series of books... 0.o

  • This was cool....your music captured the feel from the book. Hoods balls!!

  • i wanna hear one about the seige of capustan!

  • Wow. Favorite'd and viral'd to Malazan aficionados.

    Excellent work. T__T

  • That was really good

  • not exact what i image when i thought of when i thought of the Fall of Aren, but the song rocks!

  • I thought I was the only that knew about Malazan Empire. Books are incredibly subjective, but I have to say that out of the thousands of books I've read so far, this series is one of the best. Great music

  • man this was very very deep.

Hail to Coltain and his Dog Chain

    and respect for you

  • chain of dogs thx

  • RIP Coltaine. You brave, Hood cursed son of a bhedrin.

  • I actually want this music. Please, tell me I can acquire it somehow.

  • This is sweet. Great series.

  • nice one. Malazan book of fallen...new quality smth that changed the way I look on fantasy.

  • Awesome! Keep it up!

  • numerouno

  • You know, it's pretty cool that Coltaine gets a RISING sun instead of a setting one, which you'd expect people to give him seeing as how the Chain of Dogs ended.

  • wow. this is so stunning kit. its so fitting for him. it makes me so sad just thinking about his story...

    wonderful orchestration!!!

i miss sunrise over the mountains....

  • Sweet work dude
