is great music but pic could an arid scene with dust and mounds...some starving sagebrush or something. Not to be picky or anything....anyone seen bent?
I wish Kit Soden would do a "Bridgeburners Song". Remember Kimloc's Tano spirit song from the battle of Raraku in House of Chains? I'd love a tune to put to that scene... I kept trying to imagine what Fiddler was hearing in his head and I kept imagining something like Carmina Burana (the Excalibur battle scene segment) with really heavy drums, and slightly more "ghostly" vocals. I'm sure Kit Soden could pull something like that off. :) Please Kit?
This song is the reason for the Khundryl's later exploits.
Also, I think you forgot to add the sound of Squint's arrowshot into the mix. You know, so us listeners know when we're supposed to start crying in earnest?
Very beautiful. It really fits the mood perfectly. I have just now finished reading "The Crippled God" and am deeply moved by the power of Mr. Eriksons storytelling.
A movie for these series would be sweet, however, the amount of acters needed is huge, and making a lesser movie on a low budget ( probably what it would be if it was made now) would be spitting in the face of all of the fans around the world, with technology advancing though, we might see a movie within this decade, that is if SE will have it so :)
Next up MOI, and that one is my fav of the series. All this so I can be up to speed for TTH, ordered it off amazon and waiting for it anyday now. thanks for the music although a sunset out in the desert would have fit even better...hmm, maybe I'll do that :-)
rereading DHG right now, just starting the chain of dogs chapters, Felsin just became the whorllwind goddess and coltaine and crew narrowly winning another battle. I already know the outcome and it kills me flying across the desert unable to escape it, kind of like the thought of the 7th as well. They all know.
Thanks for this. Great music for the scene. I was moved to tears by the Fall, next time I reread the series I'll definitely have this playing in my head.
Very moving music indeed|(and sunset)..echoes wonderfully the pathos of Coltaine's fall......i wander if mr Erikson himself has seen this video?..im sure it would make him smile..
Man... I just reread Deadhouse Gates for the umpteenth time, and I nearly cried with the story of Chain of Dogs... Seriously. I was struck again how beautifully written and emotionally evocative it was. This music is almost perfectly expressing the story... Thank you.
and cold iron would be best to describe coltaine, hence his outstanding fallback tactics. he knew time was chasing him quick on that run and he knew the sacrifice he would have to make.
and ye kudos to my negative who wants to hear bout capustan was one of the dirtiest battles fought in this series.
but what about their leader.... who expected eternal damnation..... his own mother was a centerpeice to many tenescowri and now his body is ressurected as no other than toc the younger.
It has that dusty sandy dying taste like that of coltaines chain of dogs across the seven cities continent...reminds me of the proposition...coltaines tale is one of the greatest tales i've ever beheld, truly amazing and this does it justice ~nods~
I thought I was the only that knew about Malazan Empire. Books are incredibly subjective, but I have to say that out of the thousands of books I've read so far, this series is one of the best. Great music
You know, it's pretty cool that Coltaine gets a RISING sun instead of a setting one, which you'd expect people to give him seeing as how the Chain of Dogs ended.
Great song! So exciting to know there are other people that read these books. Everyone i try and foist them on refuses to treat themselves.

Just a great song that fits the book perfectly. If they ever make a Malazan HBO series, this song should be in it.

Amazingly beautiful...fits not just with Coltaine, but with all of those who have fallen throughout the series.

"Flies! Oh, spirits below—flies…
The swarm grew closer, a flapping, tumbling nightmare.
The horsewife screamed in wordless anguish, as if giving voice to a thousand
grieving souls. Releasing the widow's wrist, she fell to her knees.
The young woman's heart hammered with sudden realization.
No, not flies. Crows. Crows, so many crows—Deep within her, the child stirred."
I came buckets.
