interesting interesting interesting stuff. pretty awesome considering you have to have impressive timing to be able to loop record the amount she does
Wow!! I started listening with all the skepticism in the world thinking "great, another IDM freak", but the vocal melody turned this into a beautiful SONG!! Really a nice, well rounded composition.
So talented, and you can tell how passionate she is through her music. I love her voice so crisp and amazing. I also love the way she melds the classic and hip-hop styles and all the different types of instruments and effects to make some awesome beautiful music. Is she Ms. or Mrs., for I think therefore, I'm in love.
u guys our so fuckn iggnorant fuck the money fuck teh commercial shit i dont give fuck wwat any of u jerk off say she fuckn talents as fuck its new style ....
i dotn see u guys pulling this off like she did she dose it dope FUCK UR SELF HATERS!!!
Just saw them at triple door in downtown seattle. She and her band were AMAZING! i had to buy 3 cds :) She was even cool enough to autograph it for me!

so she can play a little violin, a little piano, a little xylophone, can use a simple multitrack recorder with a click track, and has a sorta interesting voice. don't know what the big deal is. since she puts herself out there she's getting noticed. mediocre self indulgent performers are always the next big thing. she ain't no Sinead.
I never leave negative comments about musicians. I suppose I was in a bad mood and I apologize to Emily and to all her fans. I listenend again and Emily is talented and unique. But I'm still not feeling her, so I'm going to check out more of her music. I will think twice before leaving a negative comment in the future. I'm always searching for new artists and was hoping to find something great. I'm not talented, that's true, but I don't love to hate. Again I apologize. Best wishes.

thats just not true. i could do better than this and im way more talented. i agree with the guy above. her voice is a bjork impersonation - she sounds too affected on this. the multitracking efforts are basic to say the least. its not a bad tune but its not amazing or anything its very derivitive..
That's quite a claim judging by the fact that you currently have no music to show and hide behind an overcritical and cynical front. She's definatly not one of my favored musicians but she's making music none the less, which is more than you can say for yourself, fuck face.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
actually fuckface im a professional musician, engineer and producer for the last 15 years and i can do better with loopers. the fact you dont like im a cocky cunt still doesnt change that.
haha.....and you have no proof of your claims of being more talented? Since were having a pissing contest Im a Berklee College of Music grad, songwriting contest winner, and I was one of six to win a private clinic with Paul Simon....I think this chic is quite talented and has her act down well and in all my experience in my modest career thus far (im 24) the ones who are the quickest to insult have insecurities about their own work. Don't be a little bitch. Keep your insults to yourself.
Some audience have got no idea what multitracking loops are so this remains an intelligent way to engage them.
Also it is hard for any musician to survive financially let alone a large band so this is a great way to downsize without pre-programmed backing tracks. Kudos to her for making the effort. Yes, others could do it but few bother.
She's making no claims about technical brilliance and you can't blame non- techies/non-musicans who have not seen this done before. It's a beautiful song.
Agreed. Unfortunately I don't know many musicians that can get attention without hype. Perhaps her naming is tongue-in-cheek anyhow. Correct me if I am wrong but she will be lucky to even make a living comparable to the dole; Such is the industry.
Tell you what. You get famous/acclaimed, then you can diss her. She's talented enough; you know how hard it is to use loop pedals with the accuracy she does? Her and Final Fantasy (owen pallett) both have tremendous composing talent for the style they choose to play. Remember that personal taste doesn't constitute talent. Talent could even be conforming to become the media's bitch. As much as I would like to say I wouldn't, I would probably do it for a couple mill a year. She's got talent.
she's a wonderful artist. refreshing break from the monotony of what the radio whores shove down people's throats. i only pray she isn't commercialized to hell and her music raped, and then become a slave to her label like Metallica.
if you don't know what I mean by a slave then I dunno what I can say. :)
they would do country and dye their hair pink if meant it sold their label more records. let's not even get into the whole issue with Lars (among others, but he was largely outspoken on the topic) and attempting to stop digital music?
That doesn't make them a slave to the label - outspoken yes. and for one, i supported them on the napster thing. It was a bubble bound to burst one day, don't matter how much money they have, if they don't want to 'give' their music away, it is their right to say they won't.
i've read a lot of interviews and stuff with them, everything they do in their career is their choice, i don't think a label could make 'em do anything. doing stuff to sell more records - that's good business, not slavery.
yes, now it's their choice. their record label told them "Guys, cut your hair, be emotional. this shit SELLS!" Dollar signs lit up in the guys eyes, and the whores came out of their shells.Nowadays yes, they did go back to the shredding solos and vocals that DID sell well, and there's no doubt it was their choice.
The point was that they, as an artist, by defending their label is like giving your executioner a blowjob before he beheads you.
Thanks NPR for introducing me to this terrific artist! I just heard E-dub for the first time half-hour ago and now I'm ordering her CD, watching youtubes, reading her bio.
