When it has no more beam ammunition left, it reloads, meaning you can abuse the beam magnum (it's called Beam Magnum for the Unicorn) and spam it.
As you've seen in the video where it turns red (like Trans-Am), it is Destroy Mode, where as it takes form into beam melee and has more melee capabilities.
It's similar to using RX-78 Gundam, a charged beam attack and a Bazooka.
