  • For me it can't be any better...excellent voice, exciting string arrangment....excellent video too, wish videos todays was like this

  • Nothing is wrong with we don't go on videos to be nasty to people unless that

person deserves it and not all of us like hip hop music I don't I like this kind of music and no

life is not great its far from it for a lot of people but everybody gets by some how.

  • Oh My God!!! What kind of people are you all.... with your positive pleasant comments? I've been watching Hip Hop and Illuminati videos. Atleast they know how to insult and be bitter. You must all think life is great? Lol

  • first time i have ever seen the whole vid, saw a cut down one once on Top of the Pops. They had cut of the end....dont belive it! all these years i have associated a truly great song with a sad driving off with his/her dad ending, when that was not the end at all, it ends in triumph not anguish! I feel cheated

  • I've watched this video innumerable times over the last 27 years and this was the first time I noticed the fish bowl with the goldfish swimming around in it!

  • if willhelm reich was such a quack then why does a memoir about him from a person that really knew him cost so damn much.

  • Donald Sutherland is so sexy!

  • she is beautiful no matter what, but longer hair works for her in more ways than this elfish, hobbit hair.

  • @00paradiselost She's supposed to be a child in the video. Peter Reich. That's why she's wearing that wig.

  • So, I visited the Uffington White Horse today. It's a famous prehistoric figure and a national treasure, but I was more interested in the fact that this video was shot there.

  • 40 people like that they can bust a nut in 3 seconds less than 7 minutes...

  • omg cant beleive it havent heard this song in and years and never see the vid... its filmed ontop of white horse hill in uffington...a place that fill my heart with joy and love just like this song. coz everytime i go up there i know that something good will happen xx cheers

  • Fuck the FDA! Poor Dr. Reich:(

  • Kate - alway ahead of time.

Finest Steam-Punk Design long time before it get popular..

  • what happened to the real man? how sad..ive read but Kate does it so well, what was her interest in it..wow.

  • Only recently when I noticed the Dragon Hill in the background (5:48) I realized that this music video was made at Uffington Castle, and that I had been up there on a summer day in 2004.

It was a marvelous day with changeable weather, and the sun hiding behind rainy clouds every couple of minutes.

Later I saw a rainbow forming across the sky at the top of the hill. It was pure magic. I will never forget that moment, and now that I know this video was made there, it's even more special to me.

  • Donald Sutherland is quite frankly..the man.

  • PEAKED AT No.20??!!! This should have been No.1 for weeks!! Too advanced for the padded shoulder mob!

  • A beauty!

  • Beautiful...

  • One of my favourite Kate Bush songs and her best ever video!

  • Why didn't they make a biopic? :(

  • This still is a great video, great craftsmenship

  • kate is amazing woman <3 i love her <3

  • This song will get to the 1 million mark even if I have to watch it another 560,000 times myself!

  • This really does never get old. You look it up on Wiki...listen to the song...and immediately wanna invent a time machine so you can go back and...fix...it.

  • Who'd have thought a simile involving a glow-in-the-dark yo-yo could be so touching?

  • I discovered Kate 1 week ago - with the help of YouTube and these videos. I have bought two CDs since then and I think she is really a special phenomenon, taking into account all kind of art she is able to perform. I mean writing both music and lyrics, singing, choreography, dancing. Thanks for uploading this stuff.

  • From Wikipedia about Wilhelm Reich: "Dr. Elsworth F. Baker, a physician friend, said at his funeral, "Once in a thousand years, nay once in two thousand years, such a man comes upon this earth to change the destiny of the human race. As with all great men, distortion, falsehood, and persecution followed him. He met them all, until organized conspiracy sent him to prison and then killed him.""

Genious song in every way - Kate Bush is also the kind that comes around only in a thousand years...

  • more kate & david, we need more rain. fantastic

  • i am 43, and weather i am listening, watching her dance and sing, or just remembering in my minds eye. It can bring me to tears. As she can do with most of the people who do listen to her. (everyone should) No one in my lifetime has been able to evoke that type of emotion. No One. This is just one more reason i do listen, to be clean in the soul again.

Again, Thank You for the music, words, visions the mystic, and dreams. You are a treasure.

  • @preblemotorpower You express my feelings exactly and your expression "to be clean in the soul again" actually brought tears to my eyes... Kate Bush is and will always be in a league of her own...

  • @calanais06 At least i am not alone in the feelings area. I know what her music makes me feel, how it brought me out of a very dark place, from past milt, and made me feel like i could start over again without the judgmental BS that come with ppl. I often go somewhere overlooking the ocean, or woods, and play her music for hours. Last time, 78 to pres. 18 hours, on the shore in CA.

    Thank you calanais

  • @preblemotorpower Thank you for reading - and sharing... then we are at least two that are affected by her music... Sounds wonderful to listne to hear music in the nature, feels like it is there it belongs in some way, must try that...! Hugs from me

  • I love this still, it does never get old. I think she hit on something, in the 85 interview, with our u.s. idiots, she said there is a pert of music that you can use to change people, use the harmonics, sounds, noises, to invoke emotions, How ever she put it, it was beautiful, and makes total sense with her music.

I am hooked, i do have all of her music, i wouldn't change that for the world. It make sense she found the music that can change people, there true in soul feeling.

  • This is Brilliant...

  • That´s my all time Kate Bush Favourite..

  • early HAARP device?

  • @toprit74 Fairlight CMI I think but not sure.

  • @toprit74 Missed the joke, thought you were referring to the synth used here for much of the music rather than the Orgone manipulating cloudbuster in the video...or maybe you were!?

  • @Cyrus2182 y was reffering to the device..but the orgone u r saying i think thats a kind of energy that is the shield to haarp appliance..

  • 19 people belong to the government ;P Like if you get it ;)

  • This song is sheer genius....yeah-yeah-yeah-yeah-yo-ohhhhhhhhhh..!!

  • Sutherland is a Scot!

  • 1:48 "what've you got in your pocket dad?" glad i've never had to say that lol

  • beautiful. "Innocence and Experience".

  • @ scofdrem - hope you don't live in England as we have way too much rain here lol

  • I do desperately need a cloudbuster

  • This song makes me cry every time ... I have NO idea why

  • @lisa68au

Sort of does the same to me (to me its the perfect love song), a song about, pure love, something we are in danger of losing.

  • kate ich liebe dich

  • If this is the second best what is the first? Should I be hummmmphing?

  • Do you think donald had sex with her? hes always getting some bird in the sack.

  • the only thing i can say GREAT :-)))

  • I think it was very kind of Donald Trump to agree to be in this video but then again, WHO would EVER turn down Kate Bush.

  • @ricchardo What,s in a name;-)))

  • Make your own ORGONE CLOUDBUSTERS - FIGHT THE NWO

  • Reich's earlier writings on the connection between sexual repression and Fascism are much more interesting than his later claim to have discovered orgone energy. It's sad that people focus on that more speculative aspect of his life and work. That said, this is a nice video and song.

  • One of the best videos, and songs, ever! Great interpretation all-around. Based on the book by Reich's son Peter, A Book of Dreams, which is well worth reading... in which he tries to piece together his seemingly fantastic memories from his childhood of his scientist, cloud-busting father--and his father's run-in with police state reactions to his research and claims.

  • I grew up with a very distant father and everytime I listen to this I cry.

    It is so touching

  • @aaronxalapa I was very close to succumbing to the system and pressure of divorce and becoming a distant father. But i was driven by the genuine love for the miracles of my life which are my two children and found the strength to fight for them. That's my reading of it. Now a very proud Grandad of three and one on the way. My heart and best wishes go out to you my friend. People care about you. Kate Bush is modern day godsend, like the mother of all mothers. She knows. Terry

  • @TheMinerva82 Oh It's nice to hear you made an effort for your children, you sound like a great father, And thank you for the nice words.

    And Thanks for Kate too.

  • Terrific song, the real life inspiration was a little shall we say odd...

  • Best video ever created, even this brilliant album. My favourite ever.

  • ist echt immmer noch klasse...

  • ODDBALL!!!!!

  • Strings at 4:16.

  • So glad to see a higher quality official vid for this now. Such a beautiful song and arrangement and one of the oddest but greatest short music films ever made. And the best Fairlight strings ever! That sound of gut on string still wrenches something inside me.

  • >2:43 > Wilhelm Reich „Das orgonomische Pendelgesetz“ / a.d.1953.

    E=mc2 goes to E=L3/t2 (off-earth energy)

This was the end my friend. CIA and the US Goverment not allow to give a new interpretation of astrophysics by W. Reich; to give A. Einstein the boot.

  • This video reminds me of watching MTV at sunday morning with a hangover

  • This is the 2nd best way to enjoy 6 minutes 57 seconds of your life

The 1st best is well, you know.

  • @hummmph what's the 1st then... skinning up a big fat reefer..?

  • @hummmph Eating porrage you meen?

  • @hummmph playing 1 half of 6mins on fifa and then watching the highlights....right?

  • @hummmph I really don't know.

  • @hummmph You`re quick!

  • @hummmph Not taking an arrow to the knee?

  • Powerful song... I've never not felt something when listening to it, and i've always seen something new when seeing it

  • This is a great song! The name of the man is Wilhelm Reich, he develop a cloudbuster machine to get the orgon energy. See the wikipedia for more info.

  • never gets old one of the best she ever did

  • a song of hope...

  • I adore this song so much and yes it definitely has some creepiness to it, i love to just ballet dance to this. The weird thing is, and I know this is crazy but...I've always kinda had some weird crush on Donald Sutherland in this video (not other things.).

  • lookkkng oven kke edge...kn kkekn kkg klack cans you yo yo k can'k kkde you fnok kke govennkenk....

  • miss my dad so much listening to this song :"(( :"(( RIP daddy

  • @greenteacucumber Your dad had good taste in music. RIP. at peace now.

  • I still dont know why... but i was so scared of this song when i was a litlte kid :/

  • @the1Skyseer There's a tenseness to the ostenato (repeating rhythm), and the song's in a minor chord; plus there are "eerie" voices and violins, and the lyrics touch on mysterious and ominous themes. Taken all together, it's not too surprising these elements might have equated to fear in your childhood mind.

Just know that you are loved now, and cradled in the arms of the universe, which ever watches over you, though you may know 't not.

  • @the1Skyseer i remember bawling cryin too!!!! it was the part when the men were taking donald sutherland away.. i didnt understand at the time why i was so upset.. i loved the song but at the same time it upset and unsettled me.. i was probably only 4 or 5 anyway..

  • @the1Skyseer It has a build up haunting and hunting vibe;-)

  • the history behind this song makes it so much richer to watch again and again...

  • i remember, not bad.

  • I always say that I hate the 80's for it's music, then I always realise how wrong I am in saying it, when I remember abt songs like this, and realise that the 80's were not just "Like a Virgin', "Last Christmas", all the crap from Stock Atkin-Waterman and the rest of the purley commercial blatant-pop-in-the-face that first come to mind about the decade

  • @darren1naudi Yeah, a certain distance enables us to see better the past, to find the overlooked good stuff and forget the drivel. I wonder what jewels are being made right now that we'll only find about years in the future.

  • ...speechless! love this song now!

  • this is very clever music, get drawn in by the rythm and beat and you are on Kate's side instantly, and she WINS! excellent video and music.

  • ...this song is perfect for us, my beloved...

  • You get to accumulate belt buckles to keep your pants from falling down.up and down that hill..)

  • This song goes everytime to mu heart, it's a jewel! Very emotional and sensitive .. I will love Kate Bush forever and ever!

  • Kate embraces steampunk way back when...

  • my eyes always start to tears with this gem.

  • 17 people don't fist pump when it rains.

  • How on earth has a complete masterpiece in terms of the lyrics/story and video has this only got 363,538 views whilst the likes of britneys, gaga's, etc has millions?

  • kocham ten utworek i całą płytę Hounds Of Love Kocham Twoją muzykę. Pozdrawiam

  • fantastyczny kawalek !

  • I have fond memories as a child visiting the science museum in London at the weekend and watching a much larger version of the pendulum in this video swinging back and forth, odd maybe but nice!

  • Love Kate's/Peter's face when she/he gives him the drawing she/he has done!

  • @jmtw290 I get you man good stuff!

  • Und dann noch dieses Video....

    Gibts heute so etwas noch????

    Donald Sutherland als Daddy......

    Hut ab, Hut ab.......

  • @MrSuperheli Fatboy Slims Weapon of Choice mit Christopher Walken

  • @erwin8888

Danke erwin, hatte ich schon fast vergessen.

Und man sieht wieder, nicht immer (meist ich ;) gleich vorschnell loslegen...

  • Handy to know about Reich. He was in Oregon I believe. Again perhaps a strange place for a rain machine. Read biography by son Peter - A Book of Dreams - Kate playing Peter. I believe the idea was that a rain maker would be a good thing in a dry area. The sets are so amazing.

  • god i love her....so ahead of her time and very talented!

  • Any 80s pop video featuring the acting legend Donald Sutherland, is always a must watch.

  • @pypeworld Too true, so excellent that he's in this. To be honest if I were famous I'd still jump to be in a Kate Bush video - such a talent

  • This is what i call : timeless brilliant.

  • For The Father In Heaven

  • Lots of memories- awesome.

  • Genius at work

  • there will only be 1 Kate bush ever!!

  • I'm not saying anything new, but Kate Bush is brilliant. Donald Sutherland is perfect in this video. What a combination!

  • but love dis tune

  • i play air violin to this song....dont ask me why...i just do

  • @chopchopdoggydog Me too!

  • Definately one of my favorite Kate Bush songs and Videos of all time. Stunning vocals, really haunting. and the video has a real timeless quality to it. No one does it better than Kate!

  • _respect_

  • Something tells me Donald Sutherland is not checked out to operate this apparatus.

  • God this bloody good

  • Bombers circa 1953 (ish) carried an improved H2S Mk 9 bombing radar system (Green Satin) that was highly accurate. However, it was not immune to jamming.

    ----------Synapse. Fired. remembered --------

Coincidentally, Willhelm Reich, an staunch anti-fascist psychologist, discovered "strange signals" while operating his cloudbusters and claimed to be able to destroy them. Then he was to die in a mental institution. It wasn't "aliens". It was US that he had jammed.

  • 6:01..."I'm cloudbursting, Dad"...a high point in '80s music. I love how she sings "The sun's coming out" as a double entendre ("the SON'S coming out") as in, the son is taking over from the father.

  • Epic Video, Epic Song, Epic Artist! Nuff Said!

  • this is great :)

  • This one is outstanding...feel it !

  • HOUNDS IS SUCH A COMPLETE EXPERIENCE

  • I've always been a Kate Bush (and Eurythmics) fan!! Their music's got something you can't find in modern songs anymore! Let others say this is old fashioned music. At least it's real music!!

  • scary to think that was a true story and they came and threw him in prison, surely this is amazing for humanity?

  • It was an incredible feat to hide her full breast.

  • My Father is going to create rain! How cool is that. This video captures, the love between father and daughter. There's no better video that ever caught my eye. Luv Kate!

  • @peterluongo63 Actually, Kate portrays the Donald's Sutherland character's son, named Peter. Sutherland portrays psychologist and philosopher Wilhelm Reich. Reich conducted rainmaking experiments with a machine he devised, which he called a 'cloudbuster.' As a young woman, Bush read his son Peter's book, which describes his close relationship with his father, and his father's imprisonment. A reference to that book can be seen when Kate pulls a copy of it from Sutherland's pocket.

  • I like Kate acting as a little boy. She's so lovely. I wonder how tall that rainmaker is.

  • ...so that's how a cloudbuster looks like...thanks!!!!

  • First comment I ever made on here, just wanted to say how amazing this video is, I have not heard this song in a long time, always like it but never realized just how advanced and groundbreaking Kate was, the video is awesome, intelligent and fits the story behind the song perfectly.

God, the 80's were really the golden age of music videos and a lot of other things.

Who would of guessed back then? !!! lol.

  • Two of my favourite artists have written tracks about Willhelm Reich, Kate Bush and Robert Calvert from Hawkwind (Orgone Accumulator)

  • One of the greatest minds with wonderful ideas oppressed and destroyed So sad about Wilhelm...Beautifull memorial to his name...thank you Kate.
