I have the Mario and Luigi still. Also had the Goomba. Never got the Koopa Paratrooper. I remember even new they didn't work as well as in the commercial. Mario wouldn't stick, Luigi never went as far or as fast, and the Goomba would just go flying.

Still, they were awesome. These were released right after SMB3 was released. I remember watching this commercial in spring 1990 and I got the game shortly after right before summer. One of the games worth the $50-$60 that some NES games cost.

Because we all played outside all day long until it was time for our parents to scream out the window to come inside...... I remember when they had Pokemon toys at Burger King... when I worked there! I got all of them, plus the display poster! No, there were not 150 toys, but there were the most ever, like 56 or something. They came to the store in several different boxes and each one would go for a week. Pikachu was rare because it was actually a quality toy and it talked, but he was the only toy that was in every box. The others each only got a week.

Man, these toys were too cool. Modern Happy Meal toys are awful, while back then they were totally reason to go to McDonald's. I think the toys started getting bad with trading cards, instead of these cool, somewhat complicated toys they just had to throw in a trading card per meal. After that they got lazier and lazier; oh well. At least we have cheap Angus burgers these days.
