Great job! This gives me confidence that I can do the rockers on my '64 truck. It's similar enough to the '69 so I get the idea. Thanks for the knowledge!
Hey I have a Suburban I want to do this too. Im pretty sure I will have to line up both doors, cuz that just makes sense, but would you line up the front door first and work your way back or how would you tackle it? Any advice will be much appreciated. Awesome videos too, I learned a lot! Keep up the good work, cant wait to see more!
@Calplaya rebuild door hinges cut out old metal and line up one side at a time i would think have not done a sub yet so not totaly sure send pics or vid if you need more help
@jeepers2655 When it come to prep, it can be done a few ways. One way (my suggestion) is put some weld-thru primer around your welding area (over bare metal) and have paint wherever you aren't welding as a means of stopping rust. I will take some time but stopping rust is the hot rodder's mission. And make sure your metal is so clean you could eat off it before you paint/weld!
I love your demos, very helpfull for me in the future. Hey I see you maybe looking for music that suits your show. Please contact The Weber Brothers.com.Or listen to them off U Tube. There a 50`s classic rock band with great originals.Tell them Cousin Pete from sent you.
@FABRIC8TIONUNLIMITE1 thanks i try. check out my new one though. brian coons 1969 chevy pu i do alot more rust repair. line up, front end rebuild. rear end recondition, brake lines etc etc etc
@nathanlorimer before you do that next truck check out the new video.
how to do rust repair on a 67 to 72 chevy truck day 1 . i cut alot more than the rockers away do a complete line up with hood and all. if the budget makes it we are going with air bags, drop disc brakes, duel master with booster, aluminum gas tank, rust repair on the doors, drip rail, and a bunch of other stuff that i forget right now
thanks for the taking the time to say thanks. each video takes me about 5 hours to do it nice to know im helping somebody. ive got video on a 60 to 66 truck in the can but dont know when i can find the time to edit. i see what i can do
Thanks for the vid. I just started on a 61 apache stepside Ive had for over 13 years now. Got out of dirt track racing so this is my new hobby. The truck is all there and ok shape. But pulling everything off frame, for the new panels I made need this video really shows how to do it. Thanks.
go with thin wire .025 increase argon pressure to about 25 may 30 depending on how good of a weld your getting. weld in one short burst like you do when your tack welding something. line up all your panels first dont weld anything toghether just tack weld after your sure its all good then finish your welds
Awsome vid dude. Im new to welding body pannels and I have 69 c10 that needs everything from cab corners to full rockers. I have been running practice welds on some old pannels only to find out .....well its not that easy. Give me 1/4 inch and i can weld all day. Okay what pannel do I start with first? And what kind of welding tips can you give me? Thanks
@Metman2J each video you see takes is about 5 to 6 hours of work the total hours to do the repairs you see in this repair took about 16 hours. the larger the hole the longer it takes but only an extra hour or two normally
@toddbarksdale i should wear glove but i need to feel the metal and if the hot metal slides down insde it hurts but if you got some new cool gloves or something i might. are you a glove salesman?
dude, great job! But my knees are killin me just watching you kneel on that hard cement ha ha. I've got a '72 longorn truck, these videos are valuable.
thanks you should see the stuff i got coming. did you see the 69 chevy pu rewire video. i should get knee pads im gettin old. dont let your truck rust
These 3 vids are invaluable to people like me...thank you Dave! without them I probably wouldn't attempt it.
I would just add that the music is awfull and a total distraction, dosen't even need music...I'm hangin on your every word and that screamin idiot is drowning you out in parts. Sorry!
@Eightbanger thanks for the words of encouragement i need them i think the videos suck but its the next thing so i gotta. your right about the music i was just trying something different thanks for the advise if you have any more feel free to let me know thanks again dave
