  • omg I'm not even twenty seconds in and I have to thank you for posting this video. These films hold a special magic of my own childhood for me. More so, this is one of my all time favorite fairytales :) Thank you so much for the time warp oxox

  • It is so sad to see this little girl (the one from Savannah Smiles, Bridgette Andersen) seeing how beautiful and innocent she is here, and knowing someday she would become a heroine addict and die very early. Sad.

  • @poisoncupcake74

I never knew that, how sad. :(

  • @poisoncupcake74

She played the granddaughter of Rose Nylund on the Golden Girls too!

  • joan collins bought me being the queen bee as wellas michelle piffer <#

  • Ahhh fond childhood memories.

  • "Tomorrow we can start to make noise again." Wow. Fairy tales aren't just for kids are they?

  • "We can start now if you'd like- having children."

Another sexual hint I overlooked as a kid.

  • I love Youtube. Thank you for bringing back this WONDERFUL relic from my childhood.

  • There's pretty much two approaches, in the Humperdink operetta, the mother is just very stressed out and yells at the children, who run away. And this is the second one, where they have a stepmother who doesn't mind abandoning them. Although in the "Shrek" universe, the childrens' stepmother disapproved of how many sweets they were eating and made them go on a diet...which makes them run away from home.

  • this shit scared the hell outta me when i was a kid!

  • i'm on the AWESOME side of youtube!

  • OMFG! I used to watch this when i was little I grew up watching these episodes! I'm so glad i ran across these! Tv was so much better n the 80's and 90's now it almost al crap and kids never use there imaginations like we did. They use there cell's and video games! Its these kind of shows i miss! thnx for the upload!

  • That woman disgust me! Too bad they did'nt have foster care back then, Or Id call Child Pertective services on that skank! What a bitch! Poor hansel & Gretel...

  • @RockMegaBarbie lmao you call her out as a skank, I'm sure she was, & oddly, she played double duty, the stepmother & the witch... It's like in Faerie Tale Theatres Frog Prince, look closely, the evil godmother & the queen are the same person & Queen Gwyneth & Candy, they're the same. Shelley Duvall is Rapunzel & Rapunzel's mother. So it's an interesting trend . . :)

  • In the story I read, the evil step-mother left because she was tired of being poor. I agree that the Dad was an idiot to leave his kids for that creap of a women. I am a mother and my kids come before anyone else.

  • I love this story but I will admit, its freaky and flat out disturbing all together I mean come on, there father agreed to abandon his own children in the woods! the witch is a cannibal! freaky story!! but yet I enjoy it . Children in Germany are sure brave to have stories like this told to them while Americans are told the candy coated versions of these fairy tales,

  • she's a cocktease :/

  • The father is a big dummy!!!

  • My grandparents don't believe in watching tv so I would always watch this on my grandmas camcorder whenever I would visit them. This brings back so many comforting memories <3

  • man last time i watched this, was like 10years ago. Was so creeped out by the witch xD

  • Thank you very much for uploading these videos!!!! i've been missing them for ages!

  • I remember Faerie tale theater when i was still a kid. i STILL love this program till now,now im watching it with my 2 sons thru you tube this time:)

  • I remember Faerie tale theater when i was still a kid. i STILL love this program till now,now im watching it with my 2 sons thru you tube this time:)

  • Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooomuch for uploading this veidos!!! I miss watching them from when I was little. Now I have that joy all over again :]

  • 8:01 "God"? Oh no! Alert the censors! They're talking about religion! Alert the censors!

  • @JakobDailes hi jacob

  • @JakobDailes wow my little brouther can do better than you

  • I always thought that hansel and gretel were twins. but it's like hansel is the older brother and gretel is the younger sister.

  • I know, she died of an accidental overdose of alcohol and drugs on may 18, 1997

at age 21. Her ashes were scattered at zuma beach in mailibu, ca on may 25,

    1997. rip bridgette {july 11, 1975 - may 18, 1997}.

  • Uhm...considering how much of a bitch she is...why marry her in the first place? Looks aren't everything, and he's not rich. So....why?

  • How can you go wrong when your show is produced by Fred Fuchs?

  • Thank you for uploading! I was telling my boyfriend about this the other day and had to see if it was on here! I watched this literally everyday at one point when I was a kid lol. Really does bring back some great memories :)

  • LOVE these classic fairy-tale plays. The whole series was excellent! And BTW, the stepmother is a b!tch and three quarters, and Joan C is perfect for the role

  • This is SO FAR away from being a lovely bedtime story... it's an absolute nightmare, and NO CHILD should be watching this! The witch has always creeped me out!

  • @SeeY0uAtTheT0p the original fairie tales weren't meant to entertain but to teach children, if this doesnt keep ur kids from taking candy from strangers, nothing will

  • @SeeY0uAtTheT0p The world is more than smiling ducklings and selfish but somehow still kind bankers...

  • I love how hansel is so caring and protective of gretal they're both just so adorable! man that step mom is such a bitch! haha god! I can't believe i'm actually waching this movie! i remember I saw it when i was a wee lass haha this brings back so many damn memories! thank you for uploading! :)))))

  • I distinctly remember this scaring the shit out of me as a kid

  • whenver my mom would read me this story before bed i wouldn't be able to sleep for a few hours. i never told her that and kept asking her to read it. it scared me shitless but i loved it. i never got a chance to watch these but i am so glad i found them!

  • Thank you thank you!

  • The father is not smart; if I were the father I would have divorced the stepmother. After all who would you love more? This woman you just met or your own children whom you've cared for and known all your life?!

  • @hiedgar YOU NEVER KNOW !!!!

  • ha i used to watch these fairy tale theater movies all the time. my favorite was the three little pigs and beauty and the beast oh and the frog prince with robin williams :D ahh such memories :)

  • @Jujichan006 T an A :)

  • I think I would have some serious issues with my father when I got older if I were those kids.

  • I remember watching this when I was a little kid. I used to get scared over the witch. lol

  • god thats story realy realy realy like my parents (even more badder) and now my mom has my sister and i live with my dad this is so like my mom and dad

mom:doesnt care about the kids and yelling all the time

dad:give everything to have a great family

  • I also don't understand how he can love her when she says that Hansel and Gretel should be lost deep in the forest. Probably from 4:42-5:57 he must have thought she was saying all those things for the kids out of love all because he loves her. (From 5:16-5:18, I guess he felt on the inside she was saying a nice thing for the kids, when of course, she was probably lying to get rid of the kids). But still, I don't understand how he loves her. (He should divorce her for saying those things).

  • the canon movie version of this is the only one where the mom is actually nice and while she told the kids to go get some berries and not come back until they got them when she realised they were missing, she did feel awful for snapping at them and stuff

  • Bless you Shelly Duvall for making these classic movies! You've made the world a better place by giving us these wonderful tales made for "the young at heart"...

  • Is it just me or did anyone else notice that gretel was always talking negative every chance she got. i mean really it wasn't that serious. It was as if she was giving up without a fight. I mean sheesh girl get a backbone and stand up for yourself. fight back, don't let that evil step mother dictate what you do. At least her brother hansel had the guts to stand up for the two up them. The dad was a wimp if you ask me, he only did what his wife wanted him to just so he could get him a piece !

  • @Tentomon23978 in some of the versions he does protest not that it does any good

  • @mylittelucy Which versions are those because I have yet to see the dad protest against his children going into the woods, but i do love this version because gretel finally stands up to that witch and gives her what for you know.

  • @Tentomon23978 not the movie version,it's more in the actual written story ,have you ever read the actual story

  • She's probably a total freak in bed.

  • I glad they flim this outside rather then on set with card-board trees and brushes.

gahh if I were the husband I would throw the step-mother outside IN THE FOREST!!

why do all step-mothers in fariy tales are total b*tches

  • This was made in 1983

  • @thepaiayang1 2 days until my birthday and in 1992 :D

  • "we could start right now if you want?" "you might wake the children" "tomorrow we cant start making noise again"

I thought this was for kids what's with all the sex jokes?

  • I like the way the bad people always have british accents

  • since it says in the credits - that's real genius

  • cool

  • cold hearted bitch...they should leave her in the forest :-D

  • @Dragonlilly12 hahaha, indeed.

  • I LOVED this when i was a kid! So glad I found it on here.

  • OMG THROWBACK!!!! I used to be so scared of the with OMG

  • wow, I loved these as a kid! Thanx for posting these!

  • Well, the stepmother and the witch are both played by Joan Collins, and they both share the same interest in kids where the stepmother disrespects kids and the witch eats kids. (I wonder if the witch is the stepmothers senior citizen sister or if the witch is the stepmothers mother. If she's the mother then maybe she has brainwashed the stepmother when she was a young girl in order to disrespect kids).

  • Great flashbacks, thanks

  • this was back when disney channel was good

  • the bad mother is so pretty.

and the bedroom looks cozy anyway :D

  • Wow I use to watch this all of the time. "No! No NO!" (When the witch checks if Hansel is fat enough. :)

  • I just loved fairy tales! still do actually lol

  • Back then, if pesants hunted without permission from thier lord/nobles, then they'd be punished or something along those lines.

  • Anyone here read the comic "Fables"?

  • i found it finally!!!!!!!!

  • 2:46 what a bitch!

  • The stepmother can burnnnn in heeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!! Such a bitch!!!! If I were their stepmother I would give them my big bed and all the food on my plate, not to mention plenty of warmth and love for both of them equally.

  • me, too, I hope

  • I'm auditioning for this in a few months...and I'm pretty much hoping to be the witch. Yes, Joan is an inspiration here, giving a very skin-crawling performance as an old hag. Although I can also blame Billie Hayes from "H.R. Pufnstuf" as well...

  • I wonder if this was the only Faerie Tale story where at 0:08, in the beginning as the host, Shelley Duvall, was surrounded with blackness all around her.

(I know in the other Faerie Tale stories where Shelley Duvall is introducing them, she would usually have something in the background or something near her that has to do with the story. For example, in the story of Pinnochio, she had puppets around her where her arms were attached to strings like she was a puppet herself).

  • @afriendofbean you might be right...

  • One of my favorite tales... hmm... reminiscing my childhood days.

  • I'm surprised the mother didn't burst into the children's room and started screaming "NO WIRE HANGERS!"...

  • yes mommy dearest

  • lol :p

  • Probably didn't need to drop stones right by the house!! I just love this one!!lol

  • I'm so into Joan Collins! It's just like watching Alexis from Dynasty! :)

  • This one I don't like cause the witch is the creepiest I've ever seen, and a cannibal. The poor children just wanted to eat, but the witch wanted to fatten them up for her dinner. They cooked her instead and the ginger bread kids were brought back to life. I guess this refers to child abuse, and world hunger. The step mother in the beginning played the witch too. She hated the kids, and wanted all the attention and food from her husband. So the candy house meant her manipulations. It was more.

  • I might be wrong but, maybe the stepmother wasn't trying to get the kids to be caught in the candy house so they will be eaten by the witch. Since from 4:32-5:00, she mentioned that she and the father should get the kids lost in the forest hoping someone will find them and adopt them as their son and daughter or, maybe the person would help take them to an orphanage. (Maybe with the stepmother saying all this from 4:32-5:00 was out of love so that the kids won't die from starvation).

  • in the beginning of Hansel in Gretyl she said she wanted the bread for herself and her husband. She said she hated the children and wanted them gone. The character who played the witch was the same woman/step mother. So when the children returned to their father, she mysteriously disappeared. Metaphorically speaking, she was the witch all along.

  • Yes, I knew that the stepmother and the witch were both played by Joan Collins. Maybe as soon as she got the kids lost, she must have disguised herself as the witch to get rid of the kids forever in order for her to eat them or, maybe she was gone at the end when the father said she was dead either because as the witch being killed by Gretel or, she died from starvation. (If it was starvation, it was surprising that the father never died). Or, she could be the witches younger sister.

  • O_o

  • oh wow!

  • HAHA young Rick Schroder from NYPD Blue

  • Is the Stepmother in this Joan Collins? it looks very much like her.

  • yes she is

  • i remember watching this when i was a kid

  • the "God Bless Our Home" plaque cracks me up

  • Comment removed

  • favorite one not too scary either

  • Wow How did everyone on Youtube know the girl who played Gretel died?

  • Since she died on May 18, 1997, it was probably mentioned on the news that people saw. Or, maybe people saw on the internet when typing her real name (her real name is Bridgette Anderson) on google, and they saw under a picture of her that she died.

  • where can i find in spanish plisss!!!

  • Wow, I am so glad I found this on Youtube! Of the many versions of Hansel and Gretel on video format, this is my favorite.

  • My favorite one as a kid. And still is my favorite fairytale of all time. i wish disney would do a version of this fairytale, it would be awsome.

  • yo quiero verlo pero en audio LATINO please¡

  • OMG!!! omg! I've been looking so long for this! You have no idea how young I was when my older sister always rent this for me in betamax! We would watch this with Carebears and little golden book series!

  • WHY  SHE DIED;

  • too bad that little girl died so young in real life.

  • aww the mean step mother took hansel's food

  • Gretel is so cute and pretty!

  • I agree. I remember seeing her on a movie where she had a brother named Tobey, and they both had a gorilla named Sandy but, I can't remember what the name of that movie was. (Gretel did a good job on that movie too).

  • i cannot find jack and the beanstalk

  • Try season 2 playlist on mychannel

  • This brings back memories. Thank you so much for posting!

  • oh man, i never realized when i was a kid how whipped the father is... she totally used sex to manipulate him!

  • I like this story just as much as I like Little Red Riding Hood.

  • That was kind of mean when she said, "Don't call me mother. I am not your mother."

  • In the beggining, is the women with the blond hair the women from the shining???

  • Yes it sure is!

  • Thank you, thank you for putting this up! I haven't seen this movie since I was 9 or 10.

  • OMG, I remember watching this show. Way to post it! Shelley Duvall looks way better than in The Shining.

  • OMG Ricky from silver spoons oh he is so cute

  • Thank you for sharing these movies. This was my favorite one when I was a child. I just recently bought the whole collection on DVDs the collectors addition, I still watch even now! I highly recommend buying the DVDs, you will not be disappointed, thanks again for posting these so everyone can enjoy beautiful classic fairy tales

  • I always loved this movie. :)

  • Screw that stepmother! I would throw HER out of the house, and use her food to feed my kids. Not the other way around. I wouldn't be giving up my babies for nothing! And if ur desperate, you can eat bugs too, and I'm sure they have those around in the woods.. They eat them in Asia all the time, just roast them up like a crunchy snack. Tons fo protein, haha! I would do that before I gave my babies up. But still great story.

  • I agree the stepmother is a nasty harpy!

  • @MoviesRock569 i agree with you if i was the father i would kill her

  • I used to have this on VHS when I was younger and I found it! :)

  • Reminds me of my stepmom. Every birthday I wish she would die and all through the year I am dissapointed.

  • wow how cruel is she?

  • Ohhh I love Shelley Duvall! These are so magical and beautiful thankyou so much for uploading!

  • wow a pussy whipped father

and a stepmother is a bitch

    wow nice fairytale

  • Thats nothing rebels127, latter on they get held captive by a cannibal, then she is roasted alive in a giant oven.

  • Joan Collins is M-A-R-V-E-L-O-U-S!

  • Wow, the dad's such a push over.

  • OMG! This was my fav one! I can't believe this is up! THANK YOU!

  • Joan brought her Alexis COlby bitchyness to her character:)

  • I'd like to stomp a mudhole in the stepmother's ass.

  • She'd probably stomp yours first.

  • lol

  • is that ricky schroeder?

  • Yep.

  • i watched these as a kid over and over and havent seen them since. sooo nostalgic

  • OMG finally I found it... WOW i haven't seen this since I was like 8 years old... Memories! ThankS!!

  • The little girl, Bridgette Andersen, died. I don't know what it was. I think it was an overdose.

  • Correct. She died from an accidental overdose of alcohol and drugs.

  • Eso ehhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
