For a fish, it's best to not handle them... It's bad for them.

If you wanna feel the electricity, hand feed them with a nightcrawler...

of course, don't use a rubber glove. For a fish less than 50cm, it is not lethal,

if it's as small as the one in the video, u'll be just fine. but bigger fishes give you more painful shocks

I once saw an african catch one of these with a trap. Its like a basket with no bottom and a hole in the top. You stand in the water and stick it over the fish then reach through the hole and grab it. Needless to say, up to his knees in water and not knowing what was inside, he got a nasty shock (excuse the pun) when he grabbed the little bastard. His first experience of the electric catfish. Hilarious!

This fish can actually paralyze (if it`s written like that) your hand for 2-3 minutes when it`s about 12 cm long.. I`m the proud owner of one of these beautiful catfish:D

Eels are far more powerful. They can generate up to 1amp! Tbh, I wouldn't want to upset an electric catfish though.

They're resonably alright with us humans. But you will get shocked if you sneak up behind it with your hand an suprise it. Nice vid mate. :)

I used to have a couple of ECF, and i had a habbit of touching them and get shock feel weird hurts for a little bit but funny but could also hurt the fish, they put out about 500volts when small and about 1,500 adult or more.
